AirPods to be Available in Apple Retail Stores Starting Monday Morning

Wow that's great news for the folks looking to get some in stores tomorrow in the US. 50 in stock is pretty solid too, I would expect most US stores to have about the same and maybe more in the big flagships

Just called two of my stores. First store had no clue when they'd be selling them. The second store said Monday but she doesn't know when Monday. I'm concerned because i'm paying someone to stand in line in the AM so i can get them.

Yeah I have limited time from 8am-845am and then have to head out of there, so really concerned shipment will arrive after that time...

If we're assuming the shipments will arrive tomorrow via UPS, who doesn't even leave their building till 9 AM, then i'm even more afraid. Hopefully the stores received stock last week and are just sitting on them until tomorrow.
From my short research stores get fedex shipments but that still not assuring 8am availability. I was hoping they have some stock in store already but few reps said they don't have anything - unless of course they didn't tell the truth or don't know
So how did the Australia stores have it first thing Monday morning? I'm sure the stores have them already sitting in the back. Apple knows customers will want these as soon as stores open
I'm hoping currys, John Lewis or Argos will have some in the uk. I can only do pick up at the Apple Store. I can't just go there and queue up as I have a 7 month old to look after.
What if Apple purposely is stalling online orders in order to drive customers into Apple Stores the week before Christmas?!
One word: Exclusivity
It's the newest marketing trick out of Cupertino. "You'd better buy it now, before shipping times slip to 4 months"
It may not be one per customer, but I bet they won't just let you buy however many you want. If they did, what would stop scalpers from buying up the whole stock. You know there will be these available for resale on ebay later today, at a little mark-up of course. ;-)
I did not realize that my local store is opening at 8 AM today. Doh. I was going to get there by 10 for opening. Now I am at work and can't scoot out till later on.

All local Best Buys in my area do not have any stock either as of 8AM this morning. (They are also all open now too).

i'm paying someone to wait in line for me right now and he says there's only one other person in line, I think I just made a big goof then.
I was 9th in line at the Apple Store in Norfolk VA. They had 6 to sell.

I bought a pair in Staten Island in a strip mall. Was here for an assignment at noon and got to the mall early. Apple store opened at 8a.m. and I was there at 818am. and the store was empty except for two people getting help with a laptop. Two pairs were left on the shelf and i was asked if i wanted 1 or 2 pairs. apple guy said most people were there at 8am when they opened. the rest of the mall was deserted except for starbucks.

Store opened at 9am and is one of their flagship stores. 20 people in line and I was #9. As we walked in with the associates clapping a few had AirPods in their hands. There were 5 boxes on the shelf. I got one and asked if I could get another. After a quick intercom to the manager they said fine.
So far I really like them. Just like the EarPods but so much more convenient. My guess is they had about 50 in stock and they all went within minutes.

I'm not sure Tim Cook has ever invented anything. He is the CEO, not an engineer or designer. Steve was a visionary and "designer ad litem". Of course I don't KNOW, but from what I've seen publicly, Tim puts more faith in his team to develop the products than Steve did.
