We just need to know if we can buy a whole set for 159 with the new wireless charging case.

My return period is running out.

You know returning perfectly good AirPods for that is just another reason why Apple's costs (and prices) go up, right? I know it's their policy, etc, but does everyone really buy Apple products just to demo?

So are they going to offer a trade-in value for old cases? Or are they just destined for everyones junk drawer?

It may work through the watch band? maybe...
Maybe for the Milanese Loop, but it has a magnetic clasp and IDK if that will interfere. As for the Link Bracelet, it doesn't lay flat when you unclasp it, so it would hover an inch or so above the mat and it's difficult to balance it. Hopefully the charging mat will work if the Watch is placed on it's side, but I think the way these charging pads work is that they need larger surface area and need to be well-aligned on top of each other, so I doubt it will work that way.
Oh no, I just thought of this. I love my link bracelet
I don't think it will be a big deal to have my current watch charging stand alongside a charging pad. It's just as easy to pop them both on, and my stand makes the Watch look better. I'm not planning on upgrading my Watch for another year anyway so we'll see how this works out. It's pretty rare that I need to charge my Series 0 during the day, but sometimes it runs out later in the evening if I've been working out a lot.

That seems like a perfectly valid reason to me. If they are offering a better package for the same price soon after they bought it, why shouldn't they exchange it?

I thought I could not be more speechless after their recent change towards a completely malignant price policy, but this proved me wrong. Absolutely out of words.
Remeber ipad pro price change without announcing it publicly?

I wish MacRumors had a filter for posts that moan about the cost. If you don't like the price, don't buy it.

It's too bad that Apple Watch users with Link Bracelets, Milanese Loops, and similar bands can't easily use that AirPower mat. Otherwise I would get one!
Damn that is a good point... didn't think of that. I wonder if they can make it somehow work while the watch is on its side.

The current cost to replace the charging case is $49, and that is all I would be willing to pay for one that supports inductive charging. I understand they have batteries and other tech inside them, however they are swapping a lightning port out, so it’s not really gaining anything.

As a convenience, I just do not see the point of having inductive charging for the AirPods. Setting something down to charge may well work fine at home, or in your car, but I don’t see myself doing this in a public setting. Too easy for someone to distract and swipe your device. Perhaps I am more paranoid than the average person, but I even pocket my phone when I charge it in public, using my own personal Apple charging brick.

Why do you people keep supporting apple by buying this overpriced crap!? Vote with your wallets people! That case should be no more then $15. Just like charging cables and dongles should be no more then $5.
NOONE needs wireless. It's bringing laziness to the next level. Because plugging in a cable is so hard. /s

To be fair, it's a battery case. It's not that cheap.

Point is many people go into the purchase knowing Apple is likely to release a new version the following week and they will likely have to return. I don't take issue with using the policy - I take issue with abusing the policy.

LOL this is obscene. $159 for Airpods, $69 for this case, probably ~$99 for the AirPower mat whenever it's available. I mean, honestly, this is idiotic. I hope this crap backfires in the biggest way.
how do you think AAPL has all that ca$h? but of course, some are willing to pay. so.. ;)

I don't get all the criticism. From a business point of view giving an absolute minimum for the highest price possible makes a lot of sense.

The Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock works with the Watch on its side. Wonder if the Dock would charge an iPhone, given enough time?

So it costs $69 to replace an airpod, and the case costs $69. $69+$69+$69 = $207. Ridiculous
Why? Think of the normal price as a discount for buying them as a set.
In any case, I cant understand how anyone can see this as anything other than good. It's rare that you can upgrade modern tech at all. This sure beats buying a whole new set in order to get the wireless charging. Also if you don't see the benefit, your current investment will continue to work as is.
Considering that the new case is exactly the same cost as the current replacement price, I am confident that any new AirPods sold after release will have these included.
