Says the person with at least 5 different Apple products. :)

/I have a whole storage shelf full of Apple product boxes.

Lol I didn't say I was happy about it but somehow they always end up getting my money.

Also, I removed the 2009 iMac from my signature as I've recently replaced it with a LG 4K USB-C monitor.

$69? For just the case? For headphones that were already over $150?

Hey Apple, I usually don't say this, but f--- you.

Prices are going up for seemingly no good reason, Apple's ability to produce their products in sufficient quantities to limit long delivery times is decreasing (likely on purpose), and their design missteps (IMHO) and lateness to market is disappointing.

As dumb and anti consumer as this is. I want it just for the airpower mat to charge my AirPods, Apple Watch, and the new iPhone together. As I have wayyyy too many wires and power bricks going on.

But this is exactly what Apple wants. They want you to have the convenience of being able to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods simultaneously without having any wires. This is what they're trying to sell you for the convenience factor. And for someone like yourself, you see the value in the this and there is nothing wrong with that.

$69 = £69 Apple exchange rate.

$69 = £51.49 U.K. import duty = £1.90 and V.A.T. = £10.67 = £64.06. Which by the time sales tax is added to the $69 U.S. price probably doesn’t fare too badly.
Why do we always forget taxes when slagging off a price.

Great. This will be a wonderful stocking filler for my friends.

Come on people it's only 69$ for wireless charging! If you can't afford that then you probably should not be shopping at the Apple store. For the average person this is not much, I know that there are many people who live in poverty, but they shouldn't complain about Apple prices because they just can't comprehend the real value of things; they come from a different world! Here on the internet everyone can go anywhere and almost forget that there are any differences between people, but just because you are on a site that sells something to people who can afford it but you can't doesn't mean that that something is "overpriced"!

I wish MacRumors had a filter for posts that moan about the cost. If you don't like the price, don't buy it.

Damn that is a good point... didn't think of that. I wonder if they can make it somehow work while the watch is on its side.

You’d think people would be used to it, no Apple price really shocks me anymore. After 20ish years of Apple products I’m used to paying a bit extra. I’m also used to the stunning after sales support that comes with it, the quality of the product, the length of time Apple will keep a product up to date with new software and the knowledge that if I don’t like it, nobody is forcing me to buy it.

But hey, that’s just me, I’m getting older and surprisingly less shockable :D

There are zero tariffs on electronic goods from US <-> EU
You're correct, I mistyped that. I should have typed taxes (Apple's global tax rate is around 25%). That's part of the cost of doing business but maintaining a multinational company is expensive (but well worth the costs). It results, however, in pricing schemes that sometimes appear unfair. Sometimes they are but some of that is because of the costs of overseas business.

It's too bad that Apple Watch users with Link Bracelets, Milanese Loops, and similar bands can't easily use that AirPower mat. Otherwise I would get one!

Excuse me for my ignorance, but why won’t these specific bands allow the watch to charge wirelessly?

Just detach one end of the band from the watch? Maybe this doesn't meet your definition of easily, but it wouldn't be that hard to do.

I would hope so, but don't hold your breath. If they are pushing wireless charging tech, which it seems like they are, then it seems like the logical choice, but we all know how Apple is with their accessories.
I don't think they're pushing wireless charging. They're including it as an option for people who want that, and they're charging extra for the accessories. Maybe that will be different for Watch and AirPods, but I'm sure the iPhone wireless charging will be a side feature that few mainstream users notice.

People in this thread be like, "The thing is too expensive! I'm not going to buy it!"

I'm glad y'all figured out how "buying things" works.

Is this an assumption on your part, or did you read this somewhere?

Will gladly pay 69 dollar for a new case with Qi. But I won't need it for another 6 months.

Apple pricing it like wireless charging is completely new tech that came out yesterday. They really went full retard with pricing lately...

It’s cause Tim is a numbers guy. Apple is only about the numbers now and they’ll price products as whatever makes those aforementioned numbers look good.

Can you charge two iPhones with charging pad?

You can charge 3x Qi compatible devices.

Apple are going to come up against serious pricing issues if this continues. Their heads are firmly in the clouds and the bubble is bursting. Consumers are waking up to the fact Apple are ripping them off, and the new £1000 iPhone could only look bad to none-fanboy consumers, there’s already been bad press and I’ve overheard numerous conversations along the lines of, “Have you SEEN the price of that new iPhone? Apple are having a laugh!”

Just because you do or don’t decide to buy something, doesn’t mean that something is not inappropriately priced (overpriced). Too many people simply allow Apple a pass on their ridiculous pricing. It’s indefensible even if the money is chump change to you. Accessories are a particularly lucrative area for Apple.

For example, their silicone iPhone case is £39 here in the UK. That profit margin is enormous. £40 for a plastic case?! Do you realise the far more substantial things I could buy for £40?! That price is plucked out of the air and then inflated more, because Apple can. It’s shameless extortion of consumers and people shouldn’t give them a pass for that. They’re a common brand with delusions of exclusive luxury like Chanel, and setting their prices as such.
