I am not worried about it coming out or not, I do not use a lay flat charger for my phone as in that orientation it is not useful for me

It's too late. A lot of people don't care about this product anymore. They took too long. Everyone has a wireless charger or two already.

I care, simply because it means I can have 1 thing plugged in instead of 3, both for home and travel. That being said, I'm sure Apple will price me out of the market.

The only way I would be interested in this is if they somehow secretly embedded wireless charging into the iPad Pro. But there is no way they did that and so this will be too little, too late. And too expensive.

Probably would have helped stop them bending

They simply should not have announced this product so early. I can understand, with their attention to detail, how they might take much longer to develop this type of product than most people would imagine--but why they would choose to announce it before it was proven ready to be produced simply baffles me. It's not like the case of the modular Mac Pro, where they really had no choice but to throw the pros a bone. Nobody would have thought twice if they never released their own wireless charging pad.

Is the only thing different about AirPower is the ability to charge multiple devices at the same time?

Yeah. At the time it was announced there were not many, if any, chargers that charged the Apple Watch and phone at the same time. Now there are a lot more options, and definitely a lot more that are not $199. The product really doesn't have a place in the market with the price they were originally wanting.

I bought one from Ali, about *$140 cheaper than this thing will be, don't really care for a mat which charges more than one device nor one that's flat on a surface, I got one for my desk, a mat is useless on a desk.

*Think this Airpower mat will be close to/minimum $160

Wasn't one of the other things about it that you could place your devices anywhere on the mat to charge? Current mats have specific points you have to align your device to if you want them to charge. Maybe I'm wrong.

Money bet is "shes dead Jim"..I think the bigger engineering issue is the coil layout required and what the user experience would be for Apple products. It's not very Apply to have to perfectly line things up for an optimal experience.

And, well nobody wants it to catch on fire.

You don't know if they're implementing secret feature/s that nobody else has.

YEAH BABY.
THE BEST OR NOTHING

i dont have, i wait for the premium one, not some cheap devices
ONE PAD TO CHARGE THEM ALL

One pad to charge them all! Unless you own an official Apple Watch with a Sport Loop band. Then you'll need to get a third party one, because the Sport Loop band won't fit it.

Is there even a demand for this product at this point?

Was there demand for yet another mobile phone when Motorola, Erickson, and Nokia (colloquially referred to as MEN, in the wireless industry) dominated the market in 2006?

You actually want a wireless pad? But are waiting for a premium one.... you know there are premium charging pads out there if just want to throw $$$ away. They All do the same thing . You can pay a lot more than an Apple lightening cable if you want “premium” ;)
I'm looking forward to seeing AirPower come out. I am looking for a charger to charge my phone and also my AW S4. So far, none of the 4 chargers I've tried off Amazon that are cheaper can do it. They're all junk

I’m not sure. I have an iPhone 6S and don’t intend to upgrade at these ridiculous prices nowadays. So, whenever I do, I’ll be in the market for a wireless charger. I’m sure lots of people are holding out. And true Apple fans will still buy it when it’s released.

But it doesn’t really matter. It’s just a charger and market share isn’t relevant. I find the HomePod and Apple entering the smart home a far bigger failure of 2018. If Alexa and Google Assistant become the defacto standard every third party device supports, then Apple has already lost.

Sure, and how would you position an iPad Pro on an AirPower
