Thank you. You visualized my thoughts exactly. The “cases” cost more than the @#$&* AirTags.
The vast majority cost a fraction of the cost of an airtag.

I would just like to point out that Memphis design is having a comeback moment and I am 100% here for it.AirTag Skins
If you want to add some flair to your AirTags or prevent them from getting scratched, you can find a series of custom skin options on Etsy. Skins are priced at right around $5 each.

Nice options. I really like the use of an AirTag in this example I found on eBay for a sticky silicone case… on an axe! Seems so practical 😁

Lots of people spend money -- sometimes hundreds of dollars -- on key fobs and similar personal accessories. Visit your city's high-end boutique shopping area and you will find quite a few such items prominently displayed in stores. The people who buy these items aren't putting Tiles on their keychains, but they might have a need for a tracker that's properly accessorized.Sufficiently stylish on your keychain? Imagine being the guy that would rather spend an additional $29 because the tracker on his keychain wasn’t stylish enough. The mind literally boggles.
(PS I hate Tile as a company, I only use them on my keys as they were the only practical option at the time. Even though it wasn’t suitably stylish).
I completely agree. After buying one of each, I went back and bought two more Belkin. The Apple holders just don't provide enough value to be worth the extra money.Got the Belkin and Apple Leather.
Go with Belkin. Cheap and gets job done. Not a fan of my leather.
If you want them sooner, you have to order them from Apple. I got one last week (the one with the key ring), and my engraved AirTag just showed up today. The AirTag is a tight fit in the holder - you put the AirTag in one half (side) of the holder, snap them together so the key ring loops for each half are at 11:00 and 1:00 (you'll see what I mean when you open the box, how the halves are snapped together in the packaging), then twist it together so the key loop halves meet. There's bump molded inside the top of one half of the shell (the top of the key ring loop), that fits in a recess in the other half.Ordered the Belkin ones - 6 weeks until I get it!

Once they're together, it's a real pain getting them apart. You have to gently pry between the two halves where the bump fits into the recess, then twist them apart. I ordered some skins on Amazon to protect the AirTag from scratches, but they won't arrive for a few days. I temporarily used a piece of the clear wrap that's on the AirTag when you unbox it, to protect the metal disc.
The one thing I'm disappointed in is the way the metal disc sticks out from the plastic body. I thought it would be recessed into the plastic body, or at least flush with it. It doesn't matter if you've got it in a holder of some kind, but if it's not (like in a bag), dirt and crud could get trapped under the edge of the metal disc.
SuperGlue?Ordered a 4-pack and have been looking feverishly for an accessory that acts as an ID badge reel and holds an AirTag. May not be a huge demand for them now while lots of people are working from home, but when offices open back up, this could be a hot product!
