I’m curious how are people putting these tags onto items that don’t usually work with a key ring - like wallet, phones, remote and hard surface items. I suppose find adhesive cases or cases that would cover the entire items with a hole for key rings?

I ordered the 4 pack at 8am EST with custom engraving and the order says delivery on April 30th. I'm not sure I believe that but I'll see.

This is what I get when opening the Apple store app to check on my order status. 😂 hope all is well. (Edit: Screenshot was taken 2 hours after the launch at 5am)

Excited to try them out!! I ordered a 4 pack at 5:01 PST, and two individual ones for pickup at my local Apple store at 5:04 PST... was able to get the appointment for 11am-11:15am when my store opens here. I hope that stays true!

Ordered my 4 pack at 8:00 am EST. I am a little disappointed they are not better designed for tracking stolen items (as opposed to lost items) but I still find value in this product.

There are fabric cases with adhesives , like this one
If you are in the States I guess it’s cheaper than being in Canada.....if you’re willing to wait till july
I can sew maybe I can make my own or wait for similar ones on Amazon
BTW my 1 tag order is coming on May 10-12 ....

I was excited about this product but after seeing all of its shortcomings I don't think I can justify purchasing it. My main concern is how easily it can be fooled in the case my property is stolen.

I wish Apple could implement something like a "Stolen Mode" but after reading yesterday's interview where they suggest buying an Apple Watch as a solution I don't have any hope now.
For God's sakes. Just hide it on the device you want to track. It is not complicated

Could you please elaborate?

What shortcomings?

What interview?

What do you mean by "fooled"?

I'm sorry, but if you gonna post an argument without any base/info, it’s like hard to understand your point.

Been covered in many other threads. But basically because of the "security features" it can't be used well as a tracking device. There are many valid use cases for a device like that. Hopefully over time Apple will adapt a bit to provide some sort of happy medium to improve its usefulness.

I’ve ordered one to mess about with and have a generic holder on order from eBay.

I’m more keen on the Chipolo effort, which will attach to a key ring WITH A HOLE, and doesn’t need an accessory to inflate Apple’s profit margin.
