A 4 pack for ~$95.00 honestly isn’t that bad. Not when majority people will probably want at least two for their household. For me personally, I’ll probably purchase two initially, and then if I find any other use cases, I’ll end up purchasing more. Also, I think it will be great gifts for those who you know who are absent minded.

waited too long. I ordered personalized ones and the shipping estimate is for June

I might leave it to the professionals! My point is that apple are moving away from function being more important from form. IPads are brilliantly functional, they look great too.
The latest iMac looks stunning but is in fact less useful than other machines because of some reduced functionality sacrificed for beauty.
These tags are stupid, they don’t attach securely to the thing you may lose!
design 101 fail.
How is it design fail? Apple leaves it up to you how you wish to secure the AirTag. I see nothing wrong with that.

Giant fail for me as I wanted it to remind me I am leaving something behind (like a backpack) instead of me driving 30 miles back home then wondering where my backpack is, only to discover that it's another 60 mile round trip to go get it.

I've never lost my wallet or ATV remote...but I do leave things behind. Think about it...it you are warned you are leaving a geofence around your item, you'll never have to worry about losing it! Duh!

High anticipation turned to disappointment for me.

Can you? Who is going to stop you? Is that what this is made for and will it work for a dog who likes to take off? Absolutely not.

Your ability to locate the dog will be next to nil. Once the dog is out of bluetooth range of your devices, your only chance of getting a ping is if the dog comes within bluetooth range of another iOS device thats on the Find My network. So you can figure out for yourself just how useful that would be (not at all).
It crowdsourced with all the billions of Apple devices, so yes it will work

Not really, you buy a product that allows you to attach the AirTag to the item you want to attach it to.

You refer to the iPad to be brilliantly functional, but have you tried to get one to stand up without having to buy a case?

what surprises me is how inadequate an understanding you have of the human mind, and how it works.

there are simple, and i mean kindergarten-level ELI5 descriptions of why even extremely intellectual people, we're talking CEO/PhD holding/neurosurgeon type people, have difficulty with menial tasks such as keeping track of ones keys.

but sure, they must be scatter brained. because i care terribly that the person poking around my brain with a probe needs a bluetooth tracker for their purse.

And also what surprises me is the desire of many people to tell people that a product is pointless because they don't want or need it. Like me saying a wheelchair is a useless invention because I can walk.

What surprises me here is the amount of people who are so scatter brained they cannot remember where they put items they use every day. 😂
Orrrrrr, it could be for people who don’t wanna risk accidentally dropping and losing their wallet or if a bag gets stolen. Hows the view from your high horse?

Strange that people will buy a product that no one needs in a pandemic - just shows you the power of the Apple brand.

Plenty of collars out there for this. I would use a collar like this and not just attach a holder that dangles off the collar.

I applaud them being so quick. However, if they get too much attention, Apple will make them stop.

I guess I went about it all wrong. Seeking approval, certification, etc. silly me.
