Tag (noun) :attached to someone or something for the purpose of identification or to give other information.

These aren’t tags, they can’t attach to anything, they’re discs. I’d buy one as soon as iFixit shows me where to drill a hole.
Hi friend!

The tags on your shirt and pants can’t attach to your clothes either.

We achieve that through the wonder of sewing.

I'm British, we don't have tags on our shirts and pants are things we wear under our trousers, which also don't have tags, they have labels. Perhaps that is the issue, in England's English tag means things that attach for purposes of identification, in American English it means things that, if you splash out a few dollars more, you can attach to other things. That would certainly account for my confusion and others acceptance of this design flaw.
For now I will keep my Tile, I only lose things in the house and 9 times out of 10 its my iPhone, so I press the Tile button and it makes my iPhone ring.

Yep which is why I want them to make a tag that is the shape of a credit card but say double the thickness would be perfect. Tile has that right now so it can easily be made that side. Plus there is enough extra space for the circuitry.
I'm sure some third party with make that and have it work on Find My network.

Unfortunately it is the U1 chip that would be really useful, and Apple has that competitive advantage on lock down.

I hope to find a way to stick these to my airpods case. "Find My" for airpods doesn't help me much--I never lose individual airpods, I just can never find the case.
