Climate change profiteers?

Because oil comes out of the ground and into your gas tank for free...
So, instead of denying that there are climate change profiteers, you're just pointing out that there are also oil profiteers.

So, instead of denying that there are climate change profiteers, you're just pointing out that there are also oil profiteers.

Out of curiosity, how would you feel if Al Gore said all the stuff he says, but then didn't invest in these technologies at all? Is there a possible investment portfolio that you would find acceptable?

Lots of people invest in green tech to make a buck. Lots of people invest in green tech to push the tech forward for social reasons. I'm interested in learning how you know which are which.

The point s/he was making in the quote above is that there is a lot of pushback on green tech because some people will benefit financially from it, and therefore their words shouldn't be trusted. However, the same "scam" is going on with oil and the oil companies don't even say a word. So to push against green tech for this reason seems disingenuous.

Al Gore flies around in a jet. The jet is bad for the earth, no doubt about it. However, if Al Gore showing up to tons of events gets people engaged and moving toward a green movement, it is probable that the negative effects of the jet are outweighed by the positive effects of his attendance at so many events. I don't know this to be true, but I don't see it as an impossibility. Those who cry loudest are the ones who get heard. If Al Gore practiced all he preached, no one would hear what he had to say, and the total effect would be one person harming the world less. If he travels around with his story, his impact can be many fold greater.

Yet this is used as an excuse for people to not change their A/C habits. If Al Gore can fly around in a jet, I shouldn't have to suffer the extra 2 degrees in my house. It's lazy logic. The thought process should be to do what one can within the confines of their ability to be as minimally impactful as they can. Al is doing that by flying around and talking about climate change. If Joe Schmoe is doing something similar and having similar effect, then go for it. But if it just means going from 68 degrees to 70, that can be a victory as well.

LOL. If something happened to them (Gore and DiCaprio) the world would yawn and go back to what they are doing. Same goes for nearly everyone on the planet!

If it's such a non issue why didnt the guy who insulted Ivanka fly with her?

How should he arrive?
A commercial airline flight like the rest of us, if not by electric or hybrid vehicle?

I agree. But what does that entail?
Ask Ed Begley Jr., a celebrity that actually practices what he preaches, and inspires others to follow suit instead of insulting them.
Until Leo and Al start acting like Ed, I couldn't care less what those global warming profiteers have to say on the matter.

... because he's nuts and/or a myopically political hate filled wonk that sees red anytime the name "Trump" is flashed before him?

There's a difference with the President's family vs some random celebrity. I'd even argue that losing political figureheads is a non event. We've had Presidents assassinated before and survived. Most people are "important" in their minds only.

And then every other flight they are on gets cancelled/delayed because some Conservative blowhard* says the wrong thing, and/or rather than saying something stupid before takeoff they force an emergency landing mid-flight.

OR like all other celebrities they could fly first class, but that is no better in terms of fuel usage than flying private.

* Just like the liberal blowhard did earlier this year with Ivanka

If you don't take those assassinations seriously no-one will do the job.

Not really, because if they do something stupid and cause a plane crash that still kills hundreds of innocent people.

And there are plenty of Conservatives in the same boat. So rich liberals suffer the same treatment.

And it doesn't even need to be a political enemy, it could simply be a whole series of fans who want a selfie with Leonardo di Caprio when the plane hits some turbulence or who simply unbalance the plane.

They can't fly with the regular folk for security reasons.

And first class uses a lot more carbon too.
Do you mean rich folks use more carbon or that the first class section of the plane uses more carbon than coach?

Al Gore should use this....

The seats in the first class section are bigger, therefore they use a larger proportion of the planes carbon.

Not true, I upgraded the RAM easily and added an SSD to my 2011 Mac Mini greatly extending its life and making it much more usable. I could not do that with todays lineup.
I’m in the same boat, the only difference being that my Mac is a 13” MacBook Pro instead of a Mac Mini. The 8 gigabytes of RAM and Solid State Drive really help keep it running smoothly despite being 6 years old. Personally, I think it’s pretty close to being as fast as the new MacBook Pros, especially considering its age.

I'm all for Solar and renewable. It's cheap (in the long run), environmentally great and reduces our dependent off Middle east oil. It's clearly the way of the future. There's an amazing video on YouTube about Dubai's Sustainable City which really blew my mind how amazing the future cities could look like with renewable energy.

With that being said, Gore's last oscar winning movie which was mediocre at best, painted a really gloomy picture and 10 years later it's really more of the same. With all the virtue signaling and propaganda coming from the left, I'm seriously doubting the extent of their vociferous claim. These are the same "scientist" who're pushing there's 51 genders, so there's that too.

But the ten hottest years are all in the last 15. And the Chinese government is certainly on board. And they are the most competent regime around. All those shovel ready projects after the 2008 crash. You can't just magic that up in a week.

So many people against science, where do you guys come from!?

I don't see such a phenomenon with the people around me, it's just on the Internet. And I truly don't understand it. We may be in Trump era, but we're not in 1950 anymore. There's been a countless number of scientists, years of research, and thesis statements to support that there IS climate change, and I see a few guys here just stating there is not, based on... basically no valuable explanation.

It's a knee-jerk hatred of liberals and the "liberal agenda". Even things that could drastically improve their lives are outright rejected because of the whole "us vs them" mentality.

I differ from most conservatives on the issue on global warming/climate change.

I agree, the climate is changing. The planet is warming.

Where I differ from liberals is the cause. Liberals say that human activity (i.e. cars, factories, planes) is the sole cause of global warming - that it’s all our fault. I disagree. We didn’t cause global warming. We’re just accelerating it. The earth has natural heating and cooling cycles. We just happened to catch Earth on a heating cycle.

I agree on that. It's likely not one or the other, binary thinking doesn't help the cause. But our influence is making it worse, the warming is more rapid than usual, and it does need to be dealt with.

Nobody will deny that the climate is changing. But a scientiest (M.Sc.), i see IPCC and a hockey stick -scam.

Reasons for the changing are questionable and even in the western world, reseachers have manipulated data before to support their idea and ideology.
