i saw this movie a few days ago.

all-in-all it was fine.

I did not think it was "weird" or "trippy" or any other adjective used to describe works by Tim Burton.

Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter reminded me way too much of myself and Willy Wonka, maybe its me, but you can tell he definitely used portions of his willy Wonka training for the Mad hatter.

alice was pretty cute. and I was surprised that Lindsay Lohan had campaigned somewhat vigorously for the role back in 08.

avatar was better though.

and i always knew that Johny Depp loved to futterwack vigorously.

i had a slight problem with the animal cruelty depicted in the film though. I called up my local WWF chapter and they said they were aware of the situation.

Watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas before you pull the ol' "Depp is being Jack Sparrow or Wonka".

I believe it was Bill Murray who said that people who play hunter thompson end up using his persona for the rest of their acting days...its just that pervasive.

I saw it in 3D IMAX recently. I was actually more excited to see the new Tron Legacy trailer. Alice was good, it dragged in a couple spots but I left with a better understanding of the entire story line. Parts were very good for 3D but not as well used as in Avatar. The message that you're in control of your own life and how Alice regained her "muchness" was very well stated. You could see it in 2D and be satisfied, but the 3D images of the cheshire cat, for me, were worth the admission.

you mean you were able to get the story line that Tim Burton created? Although I didnt read the book, from what I have heard, Tim Burton's take on Alice is completely different than the book, where Alice remains a child.

Interesting.

I have heard many interesting things about the movie, such as the post people making depps eyes 30% larger, all the green screen work, etc.

BUT

The trailers I have seen do not pique my interest in the slightest. Not at all.

I'll probably rent it, but it sounds pretty ho-hum from everything I have heard.

if you liked charlie and chochlate factory, you would like alice in wonderland. No, I am not just saying that because of Johnny, but both seemed to be a little quirky and interesting takes.

Well, if you've seen it, the film isn't a retelling of the previous books, its like a third installment. She's returned as a young adult with only vague memories of (w)Underland. Tim Burton's story can stand alone with or without the books, IMO.

I just got back from seeing it. It was ok and the story had its moments, however, I do not recommend it in 3D, it gets in the way. At one moment you are focusing on things floating, then the next everything goes blurry when the scene changes around. (brain/eye readjustments are not fast)

The Red Queen gets boring after a few scenes, the Mad Hatter also. Was it worth it? Yes, liked it and was fun/good to watch. In 3D? No. Tim Burton does not do 3D well or rather didn't film thinking in 3D.

I agree with this. I didn't enjoy the 3D version nearly as much as the normal one.

Is this a joke? Weren't all of the animals computer generated?

I really want to see this film, with all the mixed reviews it got.. Not the movie of the year or anything but will be very interesting.

I liked the cat.

The rest was pretty meh.

I saw the movie in 3D IMAX theater too which I think contibuted to a better experience altogether. The movie was ok but their pushing of feminism along with lots of historical errors made it less exciting than it could've been otherwise.

Technically, Victorian Age women were really pressured... in any case, Alice did recover what she felt she lost, her 'muchness'.

I can attack that movie's historical inaccuracies in so many ways that it will make a huge list. Some of them are outright ludicrous. Unfortunately to do so I must reveal some details in movie's plot and I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet.

It's Alice in Wonderland. Were you also screaming at the screen, "A cat can't just disappear and float around like that! And all the animals are talking. That's impossible!" :p

Yes, that's exactly what happened. :)

Jokes aside, I do realize it's a fairy tale but the author based it somewhat on real events and they should've been a bit more accurate. I'm definitely not a history expert but some things were very obvious even to me.

Inaccuracies or not, we must remember it was a movie with talking animals and a disappearing cat. I highly doubt it was trying to be accurate.

Finally watched it, I agree with this. Though would have loved to have Lindsay lohan in this lol. :D

Claim-to-fame - I'm related (in a very loose way) to the person the book was based on.
