Makes sense to me, nobody should be actively developing for a platform when they don't support their newest devices this long after launch.

I'm a developer and I agree. The most important thing is backward compatibility, if I submitted my app before iPhone X it has to work on the new phone since I didn't know about the new phone when I released it. When submitting a new app or a new version of an app I have the SDK and I can make changes to the UI

Apple just offered-up a significant nugget as to the success, or lack there of, of their iPhone X.

I wonder if Warren Buffett knows the significance.

Anybody with an IQ of ~85 or greater should be able to figure it out.

The rest will need to wait until someone spoon feeds it to them.

The iPhone X is so successful that apps not suporting it will annoy many customers. And these are all customers who were willing to pay $1000 or so for a phone. That's customers who will be willing and able to spend more money on Apple products, therefore customers that you really don't want to annoy.

"Lack of success": More profitable than all the non-Apple smart phones sold worldwide together.

No sympathy for lazy devs not implementing support for larger screens. Was the same when Regina displays became a thing.

I hope they also crack down on toolbars being slapped right behind the swipe bar... that is so frustrating. Also just shoving random stuff in the statusbar areas so things overlap. Do devs not test these things?!!

Seems like a marketing driven decision to me, sure newer/smaller apps are easy to update, but with larger codebases and many 3rd party tools it has the potential to be a lot of work to do well, by forcing people to do it before the developers see sufficient benefit it certainly makes more app's Iphone X/swift 4 compatible, but just how many shortcuts developers are going to take to get it done within budget remains to be seen, wonder how many of IOS 11's problems are due to Apple facing the exact same issues.
