Bought both silver and SG with the plan of keeping the silver. Had a few issues with the build so returning it. Thankfully the SG is flawless and a fantastic piece of modern technology in a small package.

Gestures are great and it's hard to pickup my 7plus and not try to swipe.

The screen pops although I'm not completely sold on truetone as it's a little more yellow than I like. Thankfully the screen looks great with it off.

Speakers are fantastic with a little more bass and loudness compared to the 7plus.

Call clarity is fantastic as always with iphones.

Face ID is the future. When it inserts passwords you know. Looking forward to it getting faster. Would like the option for it to open the phone without a swipe though. Or at least the option to swipe anywhere on the screen.

Size is spot on as is button placement. Happy to see reachablility is still an option as phone is tall.

Like the stainless steel apple watch this phone is a work of art.

I agree 125%

The combination of the silver iPhone X and AW3 is AWESOME

Is it just me or does there seem to be more complaints about the silver than the space grey? Maybe I’m just noticing them more.

Don’t forget, if you haven’t already, calibrating the screen, especially with TrueTone off makes a huge difference to the quality.

Calibrate as in General/Accessibility/Display Accommodations/Colour Filters/Colour Tint?

For my display this seems to work better with truetone on. My display is more red than yellow with the colour shift. It's difficult to adjust the color Tint to be cool blue white.

That’s the chappie. Whatever works best for your preference, TrueTone on or off. But I’ve found adjusting the colour tint has made a huge difference to my display. Even the off-axis colour shift is much less noticeable when you get it just right.

I know this is my "All Good" thread, but I had a thought yesterday, I think the Silver would be perfect for me if it came with a SG bezel. I don't love the chrome, but that is just me.

Back to "good", day 1 and a half, I don't even remember having a home button or resting my finger print to unlock. Unlocking is actually like a background thing. I love the big screen coming from a 7. The notch issue was overdone I think. It is fine with me, I don't even notice it. I love my $10 wireless chargers from Walmart. I prefer the Apple silicone case on this phone vs. the leather. It seems slimmer.

Finally, it is nice having a thread with positive posts. That is not to say there is not stuff you think was better on the "old" phones. I can't think of any, but I am probably biased.

I actually agree with this. I don't mind a bit of contrast in a phone (I had a white one for a while) but that chrome just doesn't do it for me. Mine will be in a case so it's a moot point really, but if both had the darker band it wouldn't really matter which one I got, and to that end I might possibly have gone for the silver for a bit of difference when out of the case, which would be rare.

It’s good you’re still enjoying your phone. I’m inclined to agree with you about the notch, complete storm in a teacup, not that it’ll stop people prattling on about how it’s a “flaw” ffs.

I’m loving Face ID too, it’s just so, seamless. Even more so than Touch ID I’m finding. As much as I loved Touch ID, Face ID is definitely the way forward for me.

Yeah, I have been second guessing my color choice for 2 days after seeing the silver in person, but the reality is I will have a case on it for life. Although I ordered a clear case, so we will see. The silver seems "different", I love my new SG phone, but it kind of looks like Jet Black, which I had.

If stock becomes plentiful before my return frame, I might, I will have to see what my phone looks like in a clear case first.

I haven't been this impressed by an iPhone since the 4 came out, or maybe when I got my first iPhone, a 3G, and everything was new. It's not any one thing, though Face ID, the display, the swipes, the cameras, are all impressive on their own. It's that it all comes together to feel like one big leap forward, and it all works really well. I agree Face ID is great, even faster than I expected. Moments like 1Password just opening because I'm looking at my phone are... kind of magical. Portrait Photos using the front camera are great. The size is maybe a tiny bit too big for my smaller hands, but hardly a deal-breaker (the regular 6/6s/7 was already a tiny bit too big for me). I'm even impressed that I was able to walk into an Apple Store on Friday and pick one up. So, very positive experience here. Love it.

You may find that with a dark back and a clear case, you get "wet" looking spots where the case essentially sticks to the phone. This will depend on the case of course. I bought my girlfriend a jet black 7 and thought that looked stunning so I think that's why I've gone with SG myself. My current phone is a SG SE so even thought the colour is similar, it's huge step up in size and performance. I've always gone for the official black leather cases too as I find they age well and slip in and out of pockets easy.

Same on the leather and the slip. I preordered a Saddle Brown and a Cosmos Blue. I was underwhelmed for 50 bucks. I actually like the silicone one I have on it now better. I do know that when it comes to Apple leather cases, YMMV. They do not aways look like what they are supposed to. The shipment I got looked and felt like preather.

All good – perfect – with my X. The design, the build quality, the display, the gestures that – at least to me – really show how reduntant the home button actually is. You need to experience the X to realize that. Now everything is just fluid interaction with the screen: a seamless flow of action without breaks.

I was sceptical about FaceID. Now I'm awestruck by it. It just works: with glasses, without glasses, in the dark & even the side of my face resting on a pillow at night!

Apps that require authentication have usually logged me in before I've had the split second to even think about that login is required. For example 1Password – open the app, and you're in. No need to think about an action (touching the home button on my iPhone 7) to authenticate it.

X has been a thoroughly pleasant experience all weekend. It makes the iPhone 7 feel really dated & boring!

Bingo. You nailed it. I think the biggest surprise is how well Face ID works. I wear readers, sunglasses and nothing. I barely remember the set up, but it was a whole lot easier and less time consuming that the finger print thing. When I went through it I actually thought this is going to need a redo.

Yeah that's the thing with leather. It will be genuine, and being a natural product the quality and grain will vary slightly. How are you finding the silicone with respect to picking up pocket fluff?

It's not that bad, not much at all.

I got a Caudabe case for that reason. I don't like bulky phones, nor do I like to hide the back really 🙂
Great call on the Caudabe case. Just put it on and it is perfect. I had the Apple Silicone case on it all week and it's really a nice alternative. Sure, it's bulkier than the clear Caudabe, but it's definitely a keeper for when I need a bit more protection and grip.

I posted this in another thread:

I'm getting used it.(screen size vs. 7+) and I think I prefer the look and usability of the "longer apps" I get my on my X.

that being said, if apple does a X+ with a 6.4" I will buy that.

For me, I feel I am already getting used to the smaller screen.

But more importantly for me, the FACE ID IS THE KING TECH OF ALL TECH.

I had "forgotten" I was using an X last night, talking to girlfriend, I casually unlocked my phone AND 1Password which was the front most app ~ with my ugly face ~!!!!

OMG WORTH IT RIGHT THERE

if I had a dime for every time I had to press that damn Touch ID (that's how convenient faceID is to me now, I now swear at Touch ID) so if I had a dime for every time I had to touch it, I think I will pay off this X within the year!!
& to think people defected from Apple because of Face ID. Lol panic merchants.

But the keynote blunder had a lot to do with it, though people just needed to look past that & see the many real hands-on impressions to see it wasn't worth stressing over.

What people don't realize is that the keynote blunder had nothing to do with Face ID. The phone was trying to be unlocked after a first restart. Still piss poor on Apple's behalf, someone had to get fired for that.

Yeah, but as we know, some are just quick to judge, sans logical thought process.

It did a lot of damage to the X's reputation no doubt.

Many positive views coming out now are clearing things up, but it may be too late for those who've already changed their purchase decision.

I have been watching a few comparison videos. One thing I can say along 2017/18 models, Apple as created a unique looking phone, you will not mistake for another, in the iPhone X.

It is iconically Apple. It's not just the notch, it's everything, a package look.
