yea I call BS on this for sure

They are holding the $1299 Slate Gray model for me. Truck comes at 8pm tomorrow and the Apple Specialist says they'll give it to me straight off the truck since I've been basically bugging the tar out of them for the past 3 days trying to find out when they deliver. Will post pics tomorrow night.

I thought they got them "a few days ago" ?

The first batch are still en route from China to TN right now. No Apple store will have a truck dropping off Macs tomorrow and certainly no Best Buy will lol

This. Middle of the week is when these will hit B&M. Also don't forget places like frys and micro center. They usually carry macs.

Hopefully those who want one already ordered one as its still unclear what day they will show up in stores. If supplies are this limited, stores may only get something like 10 at a time to sell.

Apparently Apple is going the way of Dell now. You want a computer? They build it when ordered. You want a watch? They build that when ordered? Lol this is bad stuff

The following comment response is intended as a light hearted humorous observation.

Comments like this remind me of an old [probably bad, not quite cult] movie called PCU. I'll skip the plot for those that haven't seen it, but there's this one scene where all these different social groups are standing in line, each one complaining about why THEY should be at the front of the line because of how "oppressed" they are by society. And still, every single one of them hands over their cash on their way in the door.

I probably shouldn't submit this. . but sometimes you just gotta say [expletive deleted] it! ;)

I liked it better when I could buy the machines in store. I liked their service in particular. Sometimes I feel like people are being punished for being willing to spend thousands of dollars per year of their hard earned cash on Apple products. Im sorry but the experience of waiting all day at home for a product pales in comparison to going to the Apple store.

Yes, and oh by the way, if Apple isn't going to SELL products in stores, why the heck are they investing hundreds of millions (probably more) in building new physical stores, not to mention operating the large number of existing stores?

I may be weird but I'm approaching 60 and I actually enjoy the chaos of product launches at the store.

Just because you couldn't buy a Watch or new MacBook doesn't mean anything. There are still a ton of things for sale in Apple Stores. I don't know how many times people need to be told the same two things, but here we go again.

1) Apple never once said the MacBook would be available to buy in stores April 10th! They said it would be SHIPPING through the online store, retail stores and authorized resellers.

2) Quanta Taiwan botched the job. They were making Watches with a 70% defect rate last month and way behind on MacBook production. There was a limited supply because Quanta failed miserably.

Good point. Apple probably needs to phase them out and someone else in...Perhaps an american company for a change.

It was the first time Apple had used the Taiwan plant. They were the highest bidder, thats how Apple does it.

That's what the misinformed employee told me over the phone. Made the post and headed over to it a few days ago and they had no idea what she was talking about.

This is the same employee that said he would pull it off the truck for you today

Angela? Is... is that you?
You must have copied and pasted this into about 25 threads since last Friday!

Regardless of what they said, it's still massively annoying when thy didn't make it clear that for European folk, it wouldn't be anywhere close to SHIPPING on the 10th. Hell, it isn't even bloody well built yet, clearly.

Lets be honest, it's been handled relatively poorly. No store in the UK even has a display model.
It just doesn't make sense to me as a consumer, nor does it really make any business sense - and I aint no business man.

If Quanta failed so miserably, Apple should have delayed the release/ship date. This half-arsed product introduction seems to be the worst ever for Apple; both the watch and the MacBook.

Exactly Apple failed to manage it`s vendors plain and simple, they also failed spectacularly to manage their customers expectation. In my industry we send experts to monitor both quality and timeliness of vendors, as a result very few if any issues occur.

Apple management was too busy doing press rounds and not making sure vendors are pulling their weight.

Apples motto currently: we botched the shipping on the new MBR & watch. But don't worry they'll come back, they always come back. #

Sad but true. Think of someone who had a watch appointment the day of the pre-order. And wasn't able to wake up at 3am EST because they had work at 6am. Now they go to the Apple Store at 6pm after work. Try the watch on & say ok I'll take it. And the guy says...... " Ok that will be shipped sometime late June" why the hell even bother at that point lol. My friend placed his order at 3:25am EST which is 12:25 PST. He set his alarm & he got June for a 42mm sport.

Hell I was on at 12:00 PST and got 4/22-5/8. And by th time i entered my CC it slipped to 5/8-5/27. Crazy!

For the MacBook it says pick up June 2nd at my local Apple Store. Get the hell out of here lol. I was on the fence to begin with as I fall for the "new" product hype. I think I'm going to pickup the 2015 13" MBP Retina today from BB. It's on sale for $1234. In reality it's WAY more powerful and fairly light for its power. I've held the 2015 13 MBA and MBPR in each hand in store and I don't feel a HUGE difference. Actually the 13.3" MBA has a larger surface space oddly. I'll deff be on the lookout for V2. Hopefully a 14" model in a super slim profile.

The MBR obviously SUPER light but I will be using it at home 95% of the time. So I don't really need the lightest MacBook avaliable. I was already impressed how slim the current MBPR are for their power.

I've just ordered (UK) and have been given a delivery estimate of between 18th May and 29th May.

Is it possible that this may be shifted forward if they quicker with delivery?

You will love the 13" Retina I have 15" & 13" Retina`s and more often than not the 13" is my weapon of choice very nice machine. The 15" obviously has the power, equally it`s a big slab to carry about.

I agree, like I said I'll use it at home 95% of the time if not more. I was surprised how slim and light the 13.3" compared the the previous non retina model. It should last me a bit. Or until Apple makes a 14" MBR #

They basically did delay the release outside of the U.S. they had enough to fill orders for the U.S. and they did, they are a U.S. based company and if you don't like it, too bad. As I said, people in the U.S. don't cry when Korea and Europe get Samsung products first. Grow up.

No you are not weird at all. Handling a product in person and then being able to instantly make a buying decision and actually leave the store with product in hand is part of the enjoyment process.
