Trying to hardI do not like the idea, because how can you cover the camera with a sticker, if it is under the display? Then the sticker will hide a part of the display and the advantage of a camera under the display is gone.
And why do people want to film themselves? 90% of people are not beautiful enough to get filmed.
And 99.999999% of people (including you) are not of enough interest to need a sticker on their iPhone camera.I do not like the idea, because how can you cover the camera with a sticker, if it is under the display? Disregarding your comment about most people not being photogenic, I'm pretty sure you'll be very aware of when the camera is in use, because the pixels directly above it will need to switched off in order for it to work (otherwise the lights from the LEDs - microLEDs, whatever - would blind the sensor). And if you're THAT concerned about being surreptitiously recorded, perhaps smartphones in general aren't a technology you should be using.I do not like the idea, because how can you cover the camera with a sticker, if it is under the display? It didn't use Face ID of course, but the popup camera could be used for Face Unlock, which was a nice bonus to the popup design implementation of the front facing camera.I prefer the OnePlus 7 Pro implementation regarding the front facing camera, although that does not use Face ID...
Many Chinese phone manufacturers have tried the under display front camera but the output is like photo and video taken from early days of the smartphone as we know it [late 2000s to early 2010s]
My issue is the displaying of notifications/status information is becoming too fragmented. There’s the top status bar (parts of it relegated to Control Center due to the notch/pill), notification banners, and the DI which is a bit of both. They should recombine those into a single consistent, practical and unobtrusive UI.I wonder if they will still use a Dynamic Island type pop-up showing various app functions etc. Obviously they may change the name, but I really like DI, and now that it’s a standard across all new iPhones maybe the app developers will continue to develop it.
Dynamic Island, we hardly knew ya
F'n hilarious!Apple shrinks Dynamic Island in 2025.
Dynamic Island disappears in 2027.
Apple will say "the Island is sinking due to climate change" and then market the iPhone 19 as their first 100% sustainable iPhone.
Yes, is it UDC, or UPC? Both are used in the article. If it's an Under Display Camera, then it's UDC, right? The UDC vs UPC is confusing, @MacRumors
With a FineWoven screen, an Under FineWoven Camera, and Under FineWoven Face ID! BOOM!Apple shrinks Dynamic Island in 2025.

I think if anyone can make this work, Apple can.Thats a reasonable expectation but you have to know why all the companies that tried with this idea dumped it very soon. The camera and the display part over the camera both were a big compromise and all the reviews called the technology pointless for most users. Thats how most Android OEMs then settled for punch hole cameras.
Sure but Apple isn’t a display or even a camera company.I think if anyone can make this work, Apple can.
And, suddenly, all the apple devotees will agree with those of us who said trying to make a notch into a "feature" was silly nonsense.Dynamic Island, we hardly knew ya
