😱 Oh no! Don't take my Island away! 🏝️
The DI isn't going anywhere. It serves a purpose well beyond obfuscating hardware. The main difference will be that it doesn't have to display 100% of the time, and can fade away entirely for things like full screen games and video playback.I wonder if they will still use a Dynamic Island type pop-up showing various app functions etc. Obviously they may change the name, but I really like DI, and now that it’s a standard across all new iPhones maybe the app developers will continue to develop it.
What a terrible thing to say. But not surprising anymore. And why do people want to film themselves? 90% of people are not beautiful enough to get filmed.
This is exactly what I hope to see. I really like how they have at least utilized the "dead space" where the FaceID and front camera module are. I know some don't see value in it, but I am fan and I hope they continue with it, in way in which you describe. The DI isn't going anywhere. It serves a purpose well beyond obfuscating hardware. The main difference will be that it doesn't have to display 100% of the time, and can fade away entirely for things like full screen games and video playback.
Its a Notch, and Apple can still annoy everyone by placing the software blob in the same spot. I beg of you Apple, please have an on/off toggle,..hate the old Notch and current Notch!
what about the dynamic notch? I saw a kind of home made ad on YouTube. It’s a Notch, and Apple can still annoy everyone by placing the software blob in the same spot. I beg of you Apple, please have an on/off toggle,..hate the old Notch and current Notch!
You never had FaceTime or video call or video conference using your phone?Or, they can just get rid of the front facing camera, switch to Touch ID, and have a full screen display ready to go for the iPhone 16’s.
I don’t think I’ve used the selfie camera in a phone in years.
Are you implying that there are under display cameras that don't have degraded image quality?Welcome to 2020 Apple!
The fact that a multi billion dollar company can’t fix something simple and has to make up for it with an gimmick called “Dynamic Island” says it all.
But then again, 5 years after doesn’t seem that bad. They discovered nearly 20 year old technology this year by some rules from overseas lol.
Shhh don't rub it in.You never had FaceTime or video call or video conference using your phone?
How do you "know" this?Dynamic Island isn't going anywhere. It just won't be visible when it's completely idle.
Pictures with friends so I can remember what I did 20 years from now since my memory sucksI do not like the idea, because how can you cover the camera with a sticker, if it is under the display? Then the sticker will hide a part of the display and the advantage of a camera under the display is gone.
And why do people want to film themselves? 90% of people are not beautiful enough to get filmed.
Right, iPhone 18 Pro seems like an odd time to introduce this. But I’m sure they also want to be ahead of competitors.Should be possible for the 20th anniversary of iPhone
They’ve also indicated that their end-game involves eliminating all the buttons and ports. An iPhone that's all screen with no notch or island cutout is clearly the smartphone end-form. Now to get rid of the rear camera bump.
I would say it absolutely ruins the whole user experience with the device as configured with Dynamic Island - it actually is worse than the notch at interrupting videos and so forth. Bad design language decisions for years so everyone knows from the front the use is using iPhone. I pray for the day Apple eliminates the monstrosity. Its a Notch, and Apple can still annoy everyone by placing the software blob in the same spot. I beg of you Apple, please have an on/off toggle,..hate the old Notch and current Notch!
It was dumb.It was a masterful way of making something necessary, work with the users to allow them to see it in a positive way!
