Good taste is not needed, it's about bragging having the newest Iphone, so yeah, they found the way to stand out again... next year there will be even more bumps

Yeah we go through this every year. iPhone 4 was “so un-Apple”, iPhone 5 was “long”, and the iPhone X notch would reportedly end lives.

People will either get over it or switch when upgrading.

Agreed this mockup looks terrible. I really hope apple does not make the phone look like this. I hope Jony Ive has a trick up his sleeve to make this look better.

Let's looks at price points this phone will probably be £1400. And it looks ugly. I'd buy a half decent smart phone, iPhone XR and then the remainder on a dedicated DLSR camera.

The entire camera on a cell phone thing is getting a bit long in the tooth here. It doesn't replace a dslr or even a dedicated digital camera. My cheap $300 digital takes pictures 100 times better then any phone camera ever will. You can add all the camera's you want, still won't make the pictures any better. This is going to be horrible. Wait until the entire back is a bunch of camera. So much for thinness .

If Other makers can do a good job in putting their lenses in a row (which looks good), I am sure Apple can do it but I guess they prefer to be different. This one looks really ugly.

Makes sense. Other makers put their lenses in a row, or grid, which is normal and looks good

Especially if they continue with the design mistake of the camera sticking out like many phones now have.
Just wish they made the phone a bit thicker to hide the camera more inside.

It won’t matter one bit for the 99% of people who put their phone in a case and in the process getting this flat back people are ranting about.

While I’m not defending any design elements your point is valid. In 2018 87% of iPhone owners used a protective case. I’m sure the bean counters in Cupertino factor this into design these days.

That leaves roughly 12% of 2019 iPhone owners
using naked and exposing their bumps. While a very vocal minority, in the end it will have a relatively small impact on sales.

The Price/Value component is still by far the largest driving force in a purchase, IMO.

It's APPLE we're talking about, not Lenovo! Of course we care/worry about the design! Good golly, if it wasn't for Steve's perfectionism and eye for aesthetically pleasing design, Apple would have died off with Michael Spindler and Gil Amelio.

Yeah for better or worse, the aesthetics of Apple's products are a big part of their appeal. Sometimes 'marmite' (divisive) designs can work quite well on established aspirational products (i.e. several BMW models) but so far I don't think anyone at all is saying they actually like how this looks. Being such a big block of a feature it now looks silly not to at least have it centred.

That's getting considerably less likely with more leaks rolling in corroborating this design. I'd say there's now a pretty strong possibility the phone will end up looking more or less exactly like this. We usually know what an iPhone's going to look like from leaks months in advance.

You're entirely putting your right arm into a wasps' nest with this declaration. I used to think something like this, but in the end the best camera is the one you're with when you need it

It cracks me up that people give a rats ass what the back of their phones look like. If it means I can take uncropped photos at a greater range of focal lengths, and improves dynamic range, give me 20 cameras with bumps everywhere.

I don't know. I mean, a better camera is nice, but the extra bulk is starting to add up. Plus at least the mockups looks quite bad, especially the white version.

What bulk? A few grams of extra weight and a camera module that will not be noticeable once a case is put on the phone?

Everyone’s worried about the design and not what the potential this camera has to offer in terms of technology. The results are what I care about, more than anything, I want to see what this camera Can show us what advancements Apple made.

These are the same people complaining that MacBooks are form over function.
