Alleged CAD Images of Apple's 2019 iPhones Surface Online

I'll reserve judgment on the aesthetic properties of the new iPhone models. What concerns me more is the wireless chip set.

There's no way I'm moving from Qualcom to Intel to get the latest iPhone! I don't care how "beautiful" the latest phone is if I can't get a signal or get respectable 4g/LTE speeds. At that point, it becomes a pretty brick to admire.

But Intel killed their modem line, last I heard. How could Apple use a chip that's not available? Makes no sense, plus Apple and Qualcomm are an item again. I mean, I thought this was settled months ago. Relax... Be happy...

I hope this abomination bombs and give them some perspective.
So the design that is essentially the original iPhone X + 1 camera is something you think is an abomination? The iPhone X, XS, and Xr all share a similar design.

I mean, if you hate it, fine...but don't act like this is anything new. It just means you've hated it since the iPhone X, which Jony designed.

Apple has a 3 year design cycle. They aren't waiting on tech or unable to "figure out" a notchless design. They are riding a 3 year old design for maximum ROI and will redesign when they feel appropriate.

I’m specifically talking about the Sam Fisher splinter cell style protruding piece of ugly look bump.

Apple corrected the iPhone X's lack of DRAM problem when they introduced its successor, the iPhone XS.

The iPhone XR will very-likely get a GB bump-up in DRAM, that will make ALL the difference !

More so than anything else Apple does !

Apple's marketing team screwed-up BIG time by NOT promoting the extra RAM of the XS & XS Max.

We'll see what happens in Sept, when the 2nd-Gen XR is introduced.

-----

1st-Gen iPhone XS Max: 3.735 GB of DRAM

1st-Gen iPhone XS: 3.754 GM of DRAM

1st-Gen iPhone XR: 2.813 GB of DRAM

-----

iPhone X: 2.823 GB of DRAM

It won't. I thought the notch was a horrible idea, but it proved just how much other companies rely on Apple for design because after the iPhone X, everyone suddenly had to have one. Put an ugly bump on the back, watch everyone else do it.

There are reports coming out that Apple may not have enough time to switch over to Qualcom for the 2019 iPhones. So it's reasonable to expect this year will be the last year for Intel wireless chips.

I don't know if there's any substance to it, but that charging port looks more the size of USB-C than Lightning.

Just remember boys, apple compromise on the back with that huge ugly cameras, but the quality of the camera result will blow your mind. They surely don’t put ugly things on the back and only come up with minor improvement to the camera result. They’re not stupid ok!

Yes, it has already been rumored that Apple will be switching from lightning to USB

I get that. I don't think Apple would put something ugly on their phone unless it was worthy.

I am certain the camera upgrade will be remarkable.

However, with no 5G and still using inferior modems, this is not a big release. It's like an SE bump at best.

Really, for those that own the 2018 iPhones, it would be much better to save your money and wait till next year when we already know that 5G and more superior parts will be put into the phone.

I’m interested in what sort of pricing strategy Apple takes with these new phones.

I think the appetite of $1000+ phones is over, regardless of status, or features or ecosystem.

Unless Apple is completely tone deaf and out of touch, they might want to consider some mid-range product options. Either the new XR or existing one needs to drop down significantly to the $500 range.

The iPhone 8 is so tired looking. It’s basically a tricked out iPhone 6.

Has Apple ever lowered their prices once a tier is set?

I would think the $1,000+ line of MAX phones will remain the same if not get more expensive.

iPhone camera has been on par with many Android phones (and worse than Pixel) for quite a few years now. So, in this case, the ugliness does not pay off.

I'm 99% they won't change the price.

Have you seen pictured from this years iPhone? I bet no. So why think it will still be worse than the Pixel? Especially now that every phone tries to pull off a good low light photo, Apple sure is cooking up something.

Both the front and back cameras need to beat the Pixel's otherwise I don't see any reason for anyone to get this if they already have the XS or XS Max.

I hope this abomination bombs and give them some perspective.

I don't know, how much "bombing" is needed, seeing, that XS and XS Max was not selling as well as anticipated and XR sales also are...questionable, yet they are going as previously- some camera improvements, but same form, some CPU and and battery improvements, spices surely will be around 1k in any currency...
I'm kinda sure now Apple is 100% not focusing on iPhone any more, as the whole genre of smartphones is kinda wearing out and reaching innovative peak, where additions could only be gimmicks or already existing things in different "packaging".

I will very likely upgrade this year. If for no other reason than I always prefer the latest model of a current generation. This applies to phones, cars, etc.

My iPhone 8 is definitely the best and most issue-free iPhone of the previous generation (I had them all from 6 to 8). If experience tells me anything, it's that the iPhone 11 will be the most "sorted-out" iPhone of the current generation (going by the assumption that this is indeed the last model, given how everyone is talking about a complete overhaul for 2020).

I also think the phone looks good. I like the camera layout. To me, the squared off protrusion looks better than the thin vertical bar-like design.

It’s not gonna be that ugly as on the renders. The square camera module will be a single black piece of glass with cameras hidden behind it, just like in the notch.
So it may end up even kind of stylish. Also there may be a reason to position 3 cameras like that and not in a single row. It may be used for better depth scanning (in portrait and landscape), better AR, 3D effects, etc...
