Has Apple ever lowered their prices once a tier is set?

I would think the $1,000+ line of MAX phones will remain the same if not get more expensive.

What about the first iPhone to the 3G? Price drop if I recall correctly.

If i had the talent Ive has, I wouldn't want to stick around either.

There has been nothing particularly pioneering since the iPhone 5.

All apple products are now essentially rounded rectangles. Not exactly exciting when you have Ives' creativity.

Either he is being told what to produce or he feels he's hit a creative wall based on accounting and units.

No other competitor has the same facial-recognition tech. I'd rather keep the notch than compromise for the sake of aesthetic. The notch doesn't bother me.
the notch only bothers people who don't own the phone.
and the camera bump..who care what a phone looks like,,its in a case anyway

It won't. I thought the notch was a horrible idea, but it proved just how much other companies rely on Apple for design because after the iPhone X, everyone suddenly had to have one. Put an ugly bump on the back, watch everyone else do it.
Function over form.
The notch fades away after you use it and the camera bump just means more and better cameras.
I'll put it in a case and upgrade from my XR!

Jeez, get rid of those stupid camera lumps already! Do this by making the phone a bit thicker and use the space for extra battery capacity. Not rocket science.

There are reports coming out that Apple may not have enough time to switch over to Qualcom for the 2019 iPhones. So it's reasonable to expect this year will be the last year for Intel wireless chips.

https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...business-because-of-apple-qualcomm-settlement

Okay, but that would almost mean that Apple was developing their product using 'beta' modem chips. Seems really risky to do something like that. Intel blowing something like this seems out of character, but... *shrug*

What makes everyone think the notch design is going away anytime soon? Didn't they say when they launched the iPhone X that it would be the foundation design that would take them through the next 10 years?

Heh, but based on the most recent story, there's a good chance he didn't look at any of them. :p:D
I’ve been reading all the articles and I still can’t tell what he actually did bless and what he lethargically and apathetically let slip past. At this point I’m willing to believe the Keebler elves just took over.

Well anyway the design looks a little funky and I know as always, my finger is going to end up in a lot of the pictures because the lenses are too close to the edge where I brace the phone as I snap the photo. But...I’m pretty excited to be upgrading and moving on from one lens on my Xr to two or 3. Not sure yet what I’ll be able to upgrade to.

I’m not expecting miracles or Da Vinci levels of design this year. I just want a modest upgrade. The Xr has been a good workhorse.

I’m interested in what sort of pricing strategy Apple takes with these new phones.

I think the appetite of $1000+ phones is over, regardless of status, or features or ecosystem.

Unless Apple is completely tone deaf and out of touch, they might want to consider some mid-range product options. Either the new XR or existing one needs to drop down significantly to the $500 range.

The iPhone 8 is so tired looking. It’s basically a tricked out iPhone 6.

I'll be very interested to see how the market reacts if these phones are basically a spec bumped iPhone XS/Xs Max with a wide angle camera that has been available on some competing smartphones for months at the same price as they are currently.

Here in the Uk the Samsung S10 can be had for £200 less than iPhone XS, the S10 base model has double the iPhones 64gb storage and already has the wide angle camera feature.

These phones aren't even competitive with the other flagships, same for a lot of European markets.

I still see the x design as a polished iPhone 6 from 2014! It’s the same shape, curved sides and glass. The screen is only different with rounded corners but it it’s not a new design. To me this design is on its 5th year.
It even has the same speaker holes!

Did anyone even notice that these CAD photos so the same mute switch and not the "updated" design everyone has been talking about with the leaks and renders?

i sent my CV to Apple already, for the position "Chief Design Officer". it seems working at Apple has less pressure and workload than in my current company :cool::cool:

Can i still speculate on here....If so, here’s my guess on the new form camera bump...the bump will allow for magnetic camera attachment/lenses.

Who wants an even thicker, heavier phone? Who needs more battery when there’s already 60% battery left at the end the day?

Ugliest iPhone design ever!

As someone that buys a new iPhone every year, I greatly anticipate the 2020 5G iPhone with the money I saved on not buying the 2019 one.

The design is the same! Only thing different is the camera layout which is at the back which will bring big advancements.

Im sure the camera quality will be great! Still ugly tho... An iPhone XE design would be stunning! Regardless, not buying another iPhone with a lightning port... USB-C or no upgrade for me. Tired of all these various ports and cables. Commonality, Apple, commonality.

I don’t expect iPhone to ever have USB-C. It’s a worse physical connector than Lightning and unlike the iPad Pro, wouldn’t add value to iPhone with any new features. Lightning already accommodates fast charging via USB-PD and how many iPhone users would benefit from 10 Gbps data transfers?

I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new cables/chargers just so a few people can carry one less cable when they travel.
