Lol, you are a complete and total outlier bud.
Are you sure? Could be. But most people don’t live on their phones.

Sure, a good chunk has less than 60% by bedtime, but whether you end the day with a 60, 45 or 20 percent charge, most people don’t have to charge during the day. I have no idea whether that “most” is 55, 70 or 80% but if I had to guess I might say something like 70-80% of users end the day with at least 20-25% charge remaining. Just a wild guess... maybe I’ll try to find some survey stats :) I could very well be wrong!

I don’t expect iPhone to ever have USB-C. It’s a worse physical connector than Lightning and unlike the iPad Pro, wouldn’t add value to iPhone with any new features. Lightning already accommodates fast charging via USB-PD and how many iPhone users would benefit from 10 Gbps data transfers?

I don’t want to have to buy a bunch of new cables/chargers just so a few people can carry one less cable when they travel.

The exact reason Apple WILL do it. More sales in adapters and accessories with the new ports. I expect it next year.

The notch fades away after you use it and the camera bump just means more and better cameras.
I'll put it in a case and upgrade from my XR!

Yeah...no it absolutely does not, especially when videos have to letterbox because of it.

The next best phone design will be whomever takes advantage of the camera under the display technology first, perhaps stick the earpiece above the display somewhere along the phone body.

There is absolutely no good reason for the user space to have interruptions.

That doesn’t make any sense. USB-C is non-proprietary and a total commodity market—there are hundreds of vendors for those chargers, cables and adapters. If you think Apple’s decisions are all about money, why would they ditch their proprietary, MFi licensed and certified Lightning ecosystem?

I’ve heard the rumors that iPhone is dumping Lightning next year, but this is the third or fourth year in a row that Apple is supposedly switching to USB-C. I’ll believe it when I see it.

I was speaking only for myself. I don't care.

Apple corrected the iPhone X's lack of DRAM problem when they introduced its successor, the iPhone XS.

The iPhone XR will very-likely get a GB bump-up in DRAM, that will make ALL the difference !

More so than anything else Apple does !

Apple's marketing team screwed-up BIG time by NOT promoting the extra RAM of the XS & XS Max.

We'll see what happens in Sept, when the 2nd-Gen XR is introduced.

-----

1st-Gen iPhone XS Max: 3.735 GB of DRAM

1st-Gen iPhone XS: 3.754 GM of DRAM

1st-Gen iPhone XR: 2.813 GB of DRAM

-----

iPhone X: 2.823 GB of DRAM
So... in what way does 3GB of RAM rather than 4 limit the 8+, X and XR exactly? Only 15 tabs in Safari rather than 20? Arguably as iPad OS advances with more elaborate multitasking features, and Apps like ProCreate and Photoshop, the extra RAM is welcome there, but on a phone that is limited to running one app at a time?

But Intel killed their modem line, last I heard. How could Apple use a chip that's not available? Makes no sense, plus Apple and Qualcomm are an item again. I mean, I thought this was settled months ago. Relax... Be happy...
Apple's settlement with Qualcomm came too late for this year's iPhones, which had likely undergone extensive validation testing with Intel modems by then. They can't just swap these things in and out at will because it requires extensive work; their choices at that point are to either stick with Intel and release on time or to delay the release for Qualcomm chips.

Intel blowing something like this seems out of character
Intel is really good at blowing lots of things. It's not out of character at all.

You do realize Forstall had nothing to do with hardware design?
Now, now, that disrupts the false image of Forstall held and perpetuated by many users of this forum.

If his ego hadn't gotten the best of him and he had managed to work productively with anyone who wasn’t him, he would most likely still be at Apple. My own speculation is that iOS would likely be far worse off than it is today for it.

But there's a reason—his toxic reputation among people who actually worked with and under him—that no other tech company has hired him for a software engineering management role since; ordinarily, having worked such an important role at Apple, and with his accomplishments, would have companies begging to poach him, at any cost.

And, thus, the reason Apple phone sales are declining. Thanks for making my point.
What? all phone sales are declining. And apple are not the only using the notch.
Anyway..good luck with whichever phone you are using.
I'll be upgrading from the XR this fall, notch or no notch

Enjoy your new phone when you get it. From a functional perspective, I'm sure it will be awesome.

I just thought it was funny when you said "the notch only bothers people who don't own the phone." I absolutely agree with that, and I'm sure the many lost sales Apple has are from people that feel the same way. It's all good though. I'm convinced the 2020 model will be an improvement.

Yeah..different strokes :) I don't watch enough video on my iphone for the letter boxing to bother me,, I think had the phone for a week or two and stopped noticing the notch. Not 100 % sure I'll upgrade the XR this fall..I won't mind having more lenses..we'll see what else they offer..cheers!

What exactly are you wanting Apple to do? A circular-faced phone with triangular sides and Plexiglas on the front and back?
Exactly what they did with the new iPads... flat design like the iPhone 4/5’s. Flush glass front and back with the band in the middle.

iPhone camera has been on par with many Android phones (and worse than Pixel) for quite a few years now. So, in this case, the ugliness does not pay off.

Just be patient and see what kind of improvement will be. I bet a huge improvement on low light and massive optical zoom.
