I don’t think Apple puts X chips in the ipad air and if they would then they wouldn’t introduce them on an ipad air but on a pro first. The A14 will be a beast tho, so for a regular ipad air user it probably doesn’t matter

Not too sure about TouchID on the power button. The button would need to be stiffer to press, or using touchID will result in a lot of power-offs/sleeps.

However, if this has pro-motion and quad speakers, it could replace my 10.5" pro.

It won’t have ProMotion and it will have two speakers.

Apple would never put Touch ID in a side or top button. Same reason they’ve never put one in the back of something. Not as user friendly and would create a bad experience.

If touch ID can be made to work as well on a side or top button as the current design, it would be a a smart move since it would support using the entire front real estate as a display. A top or side button also means cases do not need to have a large hole if it was on the back.

I'm not sure why they would not incorporate Face ID, if the rumor is true, as well unless it helps keep the price point down.

Is that a flush camera on the back? I love using my iPad case-less, but ever since the iPhone 6 series, apple has embraced that ugly tumor. I’m looking forward to getting this one! Hoping the next iPad mini version will be of this design!

other members are saying the A13 which is a fine soc, but the air 3 was released with the then current A12, so there is a possibility for it to have the A14 if the air 4 is released just after the iphone 12’s. Pro models will then have A14X, with entry level ipad getting an A12. Bionic chips in all the ipads will be great all round.

If it’s released in the next couple of weeks per a couple of rumors, I could see it sticking with an A12 and bump the base storage to 128GB.

Keep the price the same

The regular iPad could also see a bump to A12 and potentially a laminated display and call it a day.

That gives Apple some space to really pull the Pro away from the Air with the A14 variant in Spring 2021.

Finally Apple’s products are becoming uniform. Mini, “iPad” and Air all need a refresh on those bezels. I actually believe Touch ID will be in the button. People will buy it.

My 8y old MacBook Air just died so having the whole iPad Air/Pro vs MacBook Air debate. If this didn’t support promotion/120hz display do people think that’s a deal breaker? Is the difference that noticeable? Reviews on the Samsung s7 tab are pretty superlative on how good that screen is with oled and 120hz support.

It is a dealbreaker for me personally. That’s actually the ‘Pro’ feature I most wish would trickle down to all products. Using the Air 3 I got for my grandfather it is extremely noticeable and choppy.
