Now that’s what I call a solid, believable leak.

Nah... not blurry enough.

Kidding, I find it to be mostly positive. I just don’t know how much difference there is between this iPad Air and the 11-inch Pro model such that it would warrant the price bump.

Touch ID integrated into the power button feels so un-Apple.

You could argue it may be quicker to unlock as you wouldn’t have to move your hand as much whilst unlocking the iPad in landscape mode.

That ~1.5s inconvenience (on average, taking into consideration failed unlocks) unlocking w/ FaceID could be reduced to ~0.4s if they use their most recent iteration of Touch ID, which I remember to be blazing fast in comparison. Those guestimates are based on a few years of using an iPad Pro.

But yeah, it’s very un-Apple like. But the notch is un-Apple like so I think we’re way past that.

Same.

But the iPhone and iPhone Pro is shaping up to be the same issue:

Pro gets one LIDAR and bragging rights of spending more money. 🤷‍♂️

What this doesn't reveal are the edges of the iPad. Is it slim and tapered or squared off like the Pros?

And if it's slim, how can you magnetically hold a Pencil 2?

Apple would never put Touch ID in a side or top button. Same reason they’ve never put one in the back of something. Not as user friendly and would create a bad experience.
when you purchase something with Face ID, you must interactive with the Power button to proceed, and now the Touch ID work as the same way.

I hope this will be the design. I'd welcome USB-C, although it would stink to have to buy a new Apple Pencil, but the Pencil 2 with the magnet is much nicer anyway. I hope they announce a new Apple Pencil upgrade, so the 2 may drop a bit in price *wishful thinking*

Nice, will be interesting to see what features distinguish the iPad Pro from this model -

  • Face ID
  • Camera
  • Pencil 2 compatibility
  • Screen size
  • Processor(?)

What else?

  • 4GB RAM vs 6GB RAM
  • 60Hz display vs 120Hz display (ProMotion)
I think the new Air will have Pencil 2 compatibility.

Different storage capacity doesn’t get a different model number. 1&3, 2&4

Ah in that case i am thinking:

1. iPad Air 4 Wifi 11”
2. iPad Air 4 Cellular 11”
3. iPad Air 4 WiFi 12.9”
4. iPad Air 4 Cellular 12.9”
5. iPad WiFi
6. iPad Cellular
7. iPad Pro Max Cellular (WiFi only model coming later maybe).

I don’t think Apple puts X chips in the ipad air and if they would then they wouldn’t introduce them on an ipad air but on a pro first. The A14 will be a beast tho, so for a regular ipad air user it probably doesn’t matter :)

edit: i guess A12Z is possible although I’m having my guess on regular A14
True, Air 4 could get upgrade from A12 to A12Z.

Good to see that non Pro models are getting updated with the Pro features fairly quickly. This only speeds up the innovation and keeps developers and consumers moving forward.
I’d like to see Apple moving faster on adding more RAM so that app developers can have the leeway to create more complex or taxing apps. We know the SOC’s can handle it.

If this rumor is true, the next iPad Air will be harder to wake up, unlock & get to the home screen than the current one...

With iPad Air 3 (or any other current iOS device with touchID), pressing the home button wakes up the iPad, unlocks it and takes you to the home screen. All in one action (pressing the home button).

With this new iPad Air, you would need to wake up / unlock the device first by pressing / resting your finger on the power button and then swipe up to get to the home screen. That's two distinct actions there.

Apple making usability worse in newer products of the same category makes no sense. I hope this rumor is wrong.
I can wake up iPP 2020 and iPhone 11 with just touching anywhere on the screen. Why not the same for Air 4?

It will wake if you pick it up or tap it. So pick it up, and touch the home button.

So we have 7 new iPad Models coming and 8 new Apple Watch Models, this is my prediction:

Apple Watch
1. 40mm Aluminium
2. 44mm Aluminium
3. 40mm SS
4. 44mm SS
5. 40mm Ceramic
6. 44mm Ceramic
7. 40mm Nike
8. 44mm Nike

iPad
1. iPad Air 4 WiFi 128gb 11”
2. iPad Air 4 WiFi Cellular 128gb 11”
3. iPad Air 4 WiFi 256gb 11”
4. iPad Air 4 WiFi Cellular 256gb 11”
5. iPad WiFi 128gb
6. iPad WiFi Cellular 128gb
7. iPad Pro Max (iPad X) Probably a larger 15” screen...
If a 15” ipad was coming we’d have heard about it by now

See, now this is really interesting. I was curious so I just pulled the box down from my shelf for my iPad Mini 5 and took some pictures:

This leak definitely looks legit to me, the subtitles are all in the same places with only slight variations.

I'm not sure about this leak, as it would be very easy to fake. However, that's kind of irrelevant, since everything in there has already been rumoured anyway.

As far as the SoC is concerned though, I don't think there is much chance this will get either A13 or A12Z. It will be A14.

My bigger concern though is whether or not it will have quad speakers and mini-LED, or if they'll have a new 11" Pro with these features.
