Hmm not sure how I feel about this. The curved screen makes the phone look so much more svelte and modern, but it's also slippery as hell. The phone won't look as streamlined with the older design, but should be easier to grip. The bezels will seem larger because the side metal of the phone now reaches the screen, instead of being on the side with the curved screen.

It's probably moot because for the first time I think I may skip a year of getting a new iphone, wake me up when Apple releases a foldable phone.

What happened to the smaller notch? That was literally the only thing I was looking forward to in this year’s iPhones.

So the notch in the same, unless the notch is smaller and it has 120hz it won’t be a good upgrade

The notch does not appear to be any smaller in these molds, but this may be because case makers would probably not need to have an accurate replica of that area

That's fine. I don't mind a full forehead. I just want a full screen that's not interrupted by a notch.

Apple is unlikely to backpedal on the notch to something like the pixel 4’s large forehead.

We also do know Apple is working with suppliers to reduce the component sizes and make a notch-less display but that phone won’t be coming for some time yet - the technology is not yet there at an “affordable” price

the 5.4" will be called the iPhone 12, and the 6.1" will be called the iPhone 12 Max. (Then you have iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.)

There's a certain catharsis about finally getting what I want in an iPhone after almost four years of waiting (A proper 4"-ish sized followup to the first generation iPhone SE) but everybody else is flipping out for whatever other reason instead.

I am not buying that the same thing every year smh

There are tons of alternative phones out there with no notch, "better" designs, fingerprint sensors, headphone jacks, and the list goes on. These are things people around here constantly complain about and there are plenty of options for these folks, so why not opt for those phones and move on with your lives?

Naturally design is totally subjective, but although I love the iPhone 4 as the best industrial design Apple ever made, I've always felt the humble 5C had the best ergonomic design. A soft rounded back where your palm rests and squared front which let the screen run closer to the edge.

Of course everyone hated it because it was 'cheap and plastic', but in my opinion the functionality of it was excellent.

The 5C was gorgeous! I loved those colours. If only I could have that design now, but without the forehead and chin.

It’s is entirely possible to like a product but produce constructive criticism about what you’d like to see improved. Telling people to go and buy an Android phone like you have here is dismissive and lacks any real merit in these discussions. You also can’t tell people what they can and can’t talk about here.

Catching up? Why would they catch up to something when they already have a superior unlocking system in Face ID?

People who complain about a slippery phone but refuse to put their $400-$1300 phone in a case . My XS Max has been in an otterbox since day one.. sexy, NO. Functional, YES! Functional without freaking every time the phone heads towards the floor... now THATS sexy. I take it out of the case on friday nights for “cleaning” and enjoying the slim phone while I am home and its relatively safe.

If we wanted a Lurch style forehead on our phones... We could just GET Pixel 4 XL’s, eh? Having come from a time when phones didnt have screens for anything but the phone number, i think my 6.5” with a little tiny notch cut out (for my own convenience) will be fine. Sure it would be great to not have it. Personally, my life is not so perfect that my phone design is on my list of complaints... Now, we can talk about how many bugs ios13 has... or at least in relation to my xs max which has never been so unreliable... but theres a thread for that.

have you looked at the new iPads in person? That squared off sides make it more futuristic to me. The rounded corners looks dated. I mean its been around since 2014...

I’m not angry or annoyed otherwise I would have been clear about that in my posts. I have simply asked you questions and explained why it is reasonable to offer constructive criticism on this discussion forum about the products were use and enjoy. If you have come here for entertainment and to provoke people into getting angry and annoyed then you’ll be disappointed with me I’m afraid. That is not encouraged either.

It's not just software, hardware too, lack of space. You cannot display vpn, dnd, battery %, etc.
