I would not be surprised if the design is similar to all these mock ups that have come out. I mean, there are only so many ways you can design a smartphone. It's become too predictable. :(

It costs very little for someone to design a plastic mockup of such a simple case. This seems like someone speculating to stir up excitement and/or get attention rather than anything we could point to as evidence of the coming phone's new dimensions.

any case manufacturer could've made these. we already have solid evidence that we're getting a 4.7" and/or 5.5" iPhone.

this article does not prove anything...

I think the size of the iPhone 5/s is so awkward. I can't believe they're keeping the same screen dimensions and just making it bigger. Huge missed opportunity.

Same as every other phone. Still don't get why people don't realize the iPhone is 16:9.

I dont want to speak for the iPhone 6. But man... those Cases... gotta be the worst Cases I have ever seen. They look like a six year old cut them out

No, 4.7" case on the right, 5.7" on the left.

Still looks to tall in proportion for my taste.

I wish they would make an iPhone that does not need a case or breaks when you look at it wrong. Instead of trying to shave another millimeter in width they should concentrate on making these things more useable in the real world.

How about spending a few million on shockproof / waterproof research.....

I see two logical possibilities.

Shutter button, as many people are thinking. However, I think it's a pretty poor location for one.

Home button. Think about it. The reason I think large iPhone would be bad is because they have that large bezel at top and bottom. Phones like the note have a bezel that's probably like a third of the size. Auxo 2 showed a terrific implementation where the home button can be utilized without a physical button at all. But it's always good to have a physical backup and the ability to do a hard reset, etc. The only issue would be touch ID, but rumors seem to point to Apple switching to sapphire to allow accurate touch ID readings through the screen... Not sure if it's ready yet, but seems to fit together.

16:9 4.7" screen is 4.1"x2.3", which is just slightly shorter and almost exactly as wide as the actual dimensions of the 5s.

Unless Apple makes a radical change to removed the home button and rearrange the speaker/front camera it's going to be pretty tall. I'm really hoping they throw a curve ball out and change the entire design to limit the overall physical size.

The new cutout is for a projector.

Personally, I think a revolutionary new design for a phone would be to make it in such a way with materials that were robust enough so that CASES WERE NO LONGER NECESSARY.

I've haven't used a case on my iPhone in 6 years so found me in the group that ha no idea why anyone thinks cases are "necessary".

If those are the dimensions I will not buy it. Might as well stick with my 5s..... I don't see any benefit of having a taller screen.

If the screen size can be expanded with zero to minimal overall size expansion, I won't object to it. Shorter would make it closer to the iPhone 4/4S size, which was my favorite size.

Just think, home button moves to the side, power button on top. TouchID integrates into the screen. Screen goes edge-edge left/right, and leaves just enough space at the top and bottom for speakers/mics and a well placed front facing camera. This leaves the iPhone 6 as almost all screen on the front, and the same physical dimensions as the 5s.

Oh..sorry, I went off into Wonderland there for a second.

for the 4.7" they can remove top and bottom 2mm bezel for each so in total 4mm, and for right and left sides maybe a bezel free, so a 4.7" iPhone at 129mmx64mmx7mm is not bad at all

I wish I had more faith in Apple to roll them out at the same time or at least give us info on the larger phone, but I'm skeptical.

Yea man Apple sucks. Samsung on the other hand releases the Galaxy Sx and Galaxy Note at the same time... oh wait...
