I can't comment on the mini, but the Air does it constantly.

Sadly the Mini does it too. I never really noticed it until now though, chalking it up to my network. But I can have the Dell Venue 8 pro, Note 2, and a Macbook Pro on the same WiFI network and watch them fly past my Mini when it comes to browsing.

Every time I leave a tab and go to another one, I have to wait while it loads the page again and again and again and again. This is just switching between two tabs mind you.

I do get better functionality out of Chrome though.

ehhh....I have a HTC One M8 Google play edition..it's snappier and smoother than any iPhone/iPad anything out there.

I have a ONE M8 too but there are two glaring problems:

1) Non-sapphire camera lens. Mine is scratched to hell. This is a widespread common problem. The lens coating easily gets scratched. Google "HTC ONE scratch camera" and see the hits. Not an exaggeration.
Even if you have in a case, it will get scratched. Barely looking at it, it will get scratched.

2) SD card. The appeal of 128SD card was a pipe dream for me. Spent over $120 just to find out KitKat 4.4 and Google's direction in Android is to lock down SD card for security. Android is now sandboxing app access. Apps can only write to their private sandbox. You can't use ES File Explorer to move files, delete, or create folders. I can't even copy files from a USB OTG cable anymore. It is really depressing.

I like the phone but those two MAJOR problems are annoying. THe camera is basically useless to me. I'm reading about people sending in their phones for 2,3,4 replacements. Using toothpase to grind away the coating as the recipe to fix this is just plain wrong advice.

I have the same issues with Chrome and Safari, that's why I don't think it's all 64 bit Safari like some have claimed. IMO, it has to be a combination of memory management and lack of memory. If I am reply to a post on here on MR, and switch tabs to check a link, spelling etc, when I go back to the MR tab, everything I have typed is gone. And there are still the random crashes with Safari and Chrome. This is not a premium experience and the blame lies squarely on Apple. They knew about this before the Air was released. I will wait before I buy an iPhone 6 to see if this problem rears it's ugly head with the phones too.

That's something to think about. I do plan on putting the 6 Plus through it's paces, like I do with my Note 2. If I get web browsing issues similar to the iPad mini I'd be more than upset.

I just tried it with Chrome, sure enough the same thing happened. It took three tabs before it got noticeable, and I had to go home, then back to Chrome for it to start up.

That's very upsetting, and a total shame in this day and age.

It also depends on how long you wait before switching tabs. I have had it happen with 2 tabs open. And I get at least a crash a day with Chrome too.

I'm guessing you are not understanding what we are talking about. Here is an example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7pEgZ-SIVI

It's OK, others have claimed to not have any issues, until seeing the video. Then they say "Oh yeah, that happens to me"

I think he understands just fine. Check his post history and it will clear things up.

I have this problem on my air!

They all have it. It's not defective, that's the way it was designed. And that is really sad.

I understand perfectly. But I don't experience it very often. I believe the people who experience this the most are probably running modified or jailbroken devices.

Yes, just that, in just that manner on my Mini. I don't dare write posts on the iPad, but that happens when I'm reading a long article or something, then switch to answer an email, then switch back and the article reloads back to the top of the page.

The same with Facebook, which as we all know changes the newsfeed based on popularity, so if you're far down the feed and it reloads you may never find your spot.

I hate rooting and jailbreaking, so nope it's not that. I think it's as Scruff said, it's designed that way.

Did you watch the video? Stock air, no jail breaking, no mods. Just safari, just two tabs, and a lot of reloads.

I know what the issue, I don't need to watch the video. But I don't experience it very often so I don't know what is happening there. Watching the video won't solve it if he's just blaming Apple for a problem that doesn't routinely occur with my iPad Air.

Nonsense. It is a major complaint, observation, disappointment, flaw, whatever you chose to call it. They all do it with a few tabs open.

So you basically accuse me of complaining about a jail broken air, but you won't spare the couple do seconds to watch the video?

Please keep on belittling others experiences without even gathering information.

The minute was 112 seconds long - not a couple of seconds. But I've watched it, and I haven't learned anything new as predicted.

TBH MR has had plenty of issues on iOS devices for me. I've experienced routine crashing (usually the result of hard to track ads) so much that I don't dare visit the desktop experience anymore. I use tapatalk.

Looking at the walmart site, I see a lot of ugly code that may well cause issues even on a desktop/laptop. And those issues are magnified when you visit a page with a large number of user-generated content as was done in the video. It bloats things up even more.

I suspect the issue is related to the sites you visit. Those that do sensible things when detecting mobile devices will give you a much better experience. Those just just throw a truckload of scripts and information at you will cause problems.

So in summary: I see this as the fault of developers and not an issue to blame Apple for.

Page refresh may be a problem but one can control it.

Go to Settings
Tap on “Safari” from the list of applications
Tap on “Open New Tabs in Background”
Tap “OFF” option
