I don't understand why the antennae breaks are visible as a unique material on the outside but the inside looks like solid metal.

We don't even know that this is the final design. For all we know this could be an internal design that Apple was playing with. One thing I do know for certain however, is that Jony Ive is the master of design. I have yet to see an ugly looking product that he has designed.

Bigger screen + thinner shell = minimal if any battery life improvement. Why Apple. Why!!!
It's a wider and taller shell, and it is only maybe a millimeter thinner.
I don't understand all of these people talking about battery loss. Look at iPad internals

Why are people crying about the "breaks" on the rear cover. I bet most of you have a cheap plastic case anyways to cover it up.

Every time I see one of these mock ups it reminds me of the 5c not the 5s. And that makes me wonder if what we are seeing is the next generation of the c line.

Really, really, ugly.

Such a lame design, and those thick antenna breaks ugh. Guess I'll be keeping my 4S for another 2 years until iPhone 7 comes out :(

Yeah, every leak of a new iPhone design up to now have been really really really ugly.......until it has been officially announced!!

Then people have changed their thoughts.

I'd buy those spoons with diamond-chamfered edges Craig was talking about at WWDC :p

Yes but the screen will eat up a lot juice. While I love my air's battery life, apple has done the same thing with every ipad, barely any battery improvement (10hrs vs 11hrs is not a significant upgrade).

And that doesn't look 1mm thinner, it looks much thinner.

I want an high res display on next iPhone. Not a low res like 1704 x 960. WTF? We are in 2014 not in 2010.

Why are so many mad about the lines on the back? A tad trifling. Overall, it's an interesting update. The rounded edges, thinner device and rumored thinner bezel make me wonder how a case will properly fit.

Pretty sure it's space grey or whatever they decide to call 'black'. The antenna breaks are black and it definitely looks more grey than gold to me.

I'm betting that it hasn't got its color coating yet. Could be just raw metal or the undercoat/priming.

Not so sure about this being the space gray option (welp, my perception can be wrong), but yes, probably that will be just as you guys said. After all, this is Apple we are talking about.

Those antenna breaks look so awful... Like the clean cut on 5/5S. But seriously..... Apple spends so much money on R&D. Why can't they figure out how to get rid of those? -.-

Antennas have a bad habit of eluding design R&D, they have to be half physics and half black magic. Don't forget it wasn't too long ago that phones had extendable antennas you had to pull out to get decent reception.

I'll bet the separators will be the same color as the body, so my guess is that you will hardly notice them. And since everyone seems to use a case,it won't matter anyway.

let's hope the first bit applies! Having a case is no justification for covering an ugly phone.

----------

Having a phone (My Moto X) that has the power button the side is so much more comfortable, esp. if the phone is going to be 4.7in/5.5in. No matter which hand you grip the phone in either your thumb or finger is right there on the button. Imagine having a large phone and having to stretch to hit the power button.

Go try an HTC One M8. It's power button is on the top. You really have to stretch to hit it.

That's true but then like look at an iPad, it requires more effort to lock it, but like a button on the top it feels like a more conscious decision then a potential accident.

Am I the only one that has no problem with the looks? Those gaps don't look too well on these leaks, but if Apple put a right color combination, they will look fine. Besides, I think in real life, it will feel even better due to its thinness. And considering the amount of leaks, I think these are real.

I do hope Apple has some kind of water proofing. I doubt it would be like the Xperia Z, but I hope at least Apple use some sort of coating like the Moto X/HTC One M8. Also, I hope Apple adopt the knock on feature (like the LG G2/G3/HTC One M8). This is far more user friendly than trying to figure out where to place the power button.

So the power/lock button is on the side now? I kind of like that. Love the thickness of it too. I want to see some 5.5" version leaks though!

People are taking the most incredible pictures with their phones ... but yet they seem to be unable to take a decent photo of an immobile object they hold in their hands.

This is the 10.000.000.000 mockup for case makers ... or a cheap clone.

If Apple even uses these stripes, they would make them prettier than this.

If someone is trying to take a picture surreptitiously, then of course its not going to look particularly great.

Do understand that macrumors want trolls to visit the site. Its called click revenue. And it would be boring if all that Macrumors talk about are Apple rumors. We have seen this rear case rumor at least 10 times. And just look at how much Samsung news died once the Beat rumors started. This site sees clicks like $ signs. Trolls bring the clicks.

Damn I am setting up a website

There's always a backlash with leaks but this is uglier than every other iPhone leak in history. The iphone 4 was gorgeous from the get go, the iphone 5 was sorta dumb looking, but this is extraordinarily bad.

I fear that Jony's aesthetic without Steve's guidance is this sort of design. I hope the seed has been planted in Tim's mind to start looking at acquiring a new industrial designer. I do think Jony did a good job with IOS 7 (aside from the dock transparency bar, which looks even worse in Yosemite).

Iterative or incremental design evolutions are necessary, but the giant leaps come from mutations, risky and many fail, but the successful ones write history. The challenge is getting a designer with instinct and vision into a position of authority within a company, which requires a ceo with great taste and vision. The post Jobs Apple is firing on all cylinders and may be an even better company than it was, but without a tasteful leader, design will be their biggest challenge. And for me, that's a really large part of their appeal.

Edit: I'm over reacting, it's not that bad, but it looks like a shrunk ipad with vinyl pin stripes.

LMAO at all the people griping about the antenna "lines" on the back. Yet all you people will be falling all over yourselves to get one the moment it's released. And you will come back here and never once mention the antenna breaks, because it will be the greatest cell phone ever made (according to you).

I've got the M8 and never once have I thought "man those antenna breaks ruin a beautiful phone". I've also got the 5S and think it's a beautifully designed phone and this iPhone 6 design puts it to shame. I'll be picking the 6 up as soon as I can and I won't gripe about the design.

Some folks around here need to get a life and step back into reality.

I managed to bend my iPhone 5 somehow, even though it never fell once, was always kept in a case, and I typically wear loose fitting clothing (like scrubs). Apple's pursuit for paper-thin is starting to put me off.

The design of iOS 8 and the hardware of iPhone seems to be getting uglier. I think Jony has lost his touch. Those breaks on the back make the iPhone look cheap.

First off those are breaks, that is still a one piece chassis. Besides you don't know what if any function those features may have.
