I think its ugly :) for some reason.. maybe Im not used to seeing that kind of size when folded.

The only advantage about this Samsung design is a small footprint in your pocket. Other than that I guess there is no other benefits.

I like the Microsoft Surface Duo better than this or Galaxy Fold. Google already has support for foldables in Android 10 (API 29) so it wont be hard to create a more productive apps with foldables or dual screen devices.

Microsoft Surface Duo in my opinion is an idiotic device, at least if you consider it to be used like a smartphone.

Apparently you haven't used either. This couldn't be more wrong.
Nothing wrong here.
Samsung keep changing their mind on almost everything is a matter of fact.

How the hell would anyone pocket that thing? Also, there is a reason the camera pans to the other side of her face once she puts it up to her ear.

You mean...like the phone that you can't touch with your FINGERNAIL and costs $2300? That punch? No thanks.

You certainly can touch the phone with your nails. You just can't dig into it. In the real world, they've proven to be surprisingly durable, with very few people reporting it complaining about damage.

I don't personally want a clamshell phone, but I don't doubt these will sell well. I am very interested in future generations of the folding tablet design.

You can’t see a single case where an iPad mini sized screen is easier to make use of than an iPhone Max sized screen?

Really?
It is NOT an ipad Mini.
It has a ridiculous plastic display with an horrible line in the middle, and you have to take care not to scratch (or destroy) it while using.

It basically is a poor smartphone while closed, and a poor tablet when opened.
Worst of both worlds.

My point is if they could do an edge to edge display and have a nearly seamless join between the hinged segments there should be little to no tactile issue and little to no visual gap. No bezel.

"Nearly seamless" isn't seamless. Even a very thin line between the two screens would be problematic when viewing full-screen content in portrait or landscape orientation.

Oh wow... I’m so stupid. I had always assumed it would fold along the length of the phone so you would have twice the area that you have in present day smart phones. Who wants to fold their phone up using today’s sized phones?

Given how big todays phones have become that sounds like a perfect idea.

It would be better if they used two separate displays instead of one folding. With the precision today at Apple the two displays touching could only have a millimeter or less gap resulting in a much sturdy display and feel.
Think of the old trinitron displays, they had an two fine horizontal lines on the displays yet they were the finest displays at them time.

Different people want different things. The clamshell design does not mean they are not also making the folding tablet. I look forward to a future where we have all sorts of interesting options.

I bet that screen was folded during testing 1000s of times.
Which is about the average for a week for real world use. This thing won't look pretty after a few months.

If they can get the screen life solved and the price down to $500 I would be interested. I use my phone only occasionally and would like to have it take less space. But I need a larger screen.

Ok, someone had to say this...where's the notch? j/k of course. It seems Samsung is attempting to find use cases for this tech. Only time will tell if it pans out.
