I agree that centering the thing could be awesome and look better. But more importantly I hope they don't start differentiating between the phone sizes in regards to the camera specs. I remember how ****** it felt when they did that with the 7/7Plus. Hated that buyers that couldn't/wouldn't buy the bigger phone was left with less features.
centering this thing is not better , since the phone will wobble both ways..

This is getting a bit ridiculous. For instance, take the Huawei Mate 30Pro with 4 cameras. The phone basically takes really impressive low light shots and ridiculous zoomed photos but for the rest it is basically destroyed by any other phone (Pixel, iPhone, Samsung). It's miles behind in terms of HDR, bokeh effect, and video dynamic range. It doesn't even take 4K 60fps. In terms of slow motion the Samsung destroys the Mate.

For the majority of cases the Pixel 3 is still better than the Mate 30Pro and for day light photos I think the iPhone is still better.

So my question is: why do we really need that many cameras? Focus on 1 or 2 cameras and make them really great. Improve colors, dynamic range, portrait mode, low light capabilities and get rid of that AI marketing and of that many cameras that don't really bring anything useful.

Why do people dislike camera bumps so much? While I think this particular one is ugly, as a general concept I think it makes sense - they save your entire phone from being needlessly thick and protect the camera.

There will be some refined design element to make it premium looking - don’t worry. There are 3 camera cut outs but that’s all we really know.
Right now I’m more interested in speculating in the new tec/software that will go along the 3-lenses. I remember long ago reading about some 3D-effect or something.

Same size same everything, just change the camera and make it bigger, so people need to buy new cases again, apple is so smart

I don't mind it thicker but I do hope they put a 3000 mAH battery on the 5.8....

Let's hope that both versions have all the same features, I really don't wanna get a Plus just for the "premium" experience since 5.8 is the perfect size for me.

What makes this hideous? What is it about this camera design that produces such revulsion in the majority of commentators here--besides the fact that it's trendy and produces easy likes?

That almost triggers my trypophobia. Absolutely hideous.

It probably will trigger it if I stare at it long enough, like this one. Eww it actually triggered

Weird, apple's mantra was always about aesthetics as much as function.
Some people even criticise it for being form over function.

This is just form over function gone wrong.

Make it 2mm thicker and there's no protrusion
Actually, this is definitely function over form.

They should just extend the thickness to the entire iPhone for extended battery life.
Or put a magnetic ring around the square for lens attatchments.

Compared to Samsung S10 and Huawei P30, Apple seem to be falling behind the competition. Most Apple users are not abandoning the ship because they are heavily invested in the eco system, not because Apple offers better hardware or better prices these days.

The main thing that's going to piss a lot more people off isn't the ugly bump but the middle iPhone 11 not having a third camera when the middle S10 has it.

Indeed. The X had the best cameras and the XS has the same as the XS max. I predict this parity will continue. You pay more for the bigger screen.

They should put a lens on each corner, then it wouldn’t wobble…

Line of lenses definitely looks more elegant. Maybe the fugly arrangement is better for post-processing.

I like how Samsung did it. They can add 2 more cameras in future models and it will still look good.
Hi-diddly-ho !
For 10 days ago I upgraded myself from iPhone 8 64Gb to iPhone 8 Plus 256Gb Red Edition. Now I'm good for another 2-3 years. I just want my touch-ID ... and YES...this design is fugly.

We got fake schemes for the iPhone 7 Plus and X anyway, why would we trust this right away?
