An image allegedly showing the box for a new unreleased MacBook Pro has emerged on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
alleged-m3-macbook-pro-box.jpeg

The picture, re-shared on X by ShrimpApplePro, shows what looks like Apple packaging featuring a MacBook Pro image with previously unseen wallpaper on the display. The wallpaper bears a passing resemblance to the one Apple used for the iPhone 15 Pro.

It's unclear whether the image is legitimate or simply faked.

Apple's upcoming "Scary Fast" event on October 30 will focus on the M3 series MacBook Pro models, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also says that Apple has been testing M3 Max and M3 Pro MacBook Pro models, suggesting that these machines are going to be refreshed.

Gurman just last week claimed that Apple would not update the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M3 Pro and M3 Max chips until early 2024, so it seems that his predictions have since changed.

In its promotional graphics for the event on its website, Apple has included the smiling Finder icon, essentially confirming that Macs are the focus of the event.

Another hint that we should expect new MacBook Pro models is Apple's use of "Scary Fast" as a tagline: When Apple launched the first Apple silicon-based 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models in October 2021, the company's marketing described the M1 Pro as "Scary Fast" and the M1 Max as "Scary Faster."

Wow. Apple coming out with M3, M3 Pro, M3 Max at the same time is a huge surprise.

It also makes me think about all the predictions that M2 15" Air should have launched with M3 at WWDC. It made far too much sense. Now all the chips are ready. Strange because Apple usually gets the base M chip out first, then the Pro and Max a few months later. Something unexpected must have happened for M3 to not launch with the 15" Air.

Also, like I said many times here, I fully expect Apple to do a quick text press release saying they "upgraded" the M2 to M3 for the release version of Vision Pro. Of course it never made sense to say Vision Pro is shipping with M3 at WWDC because Apple hasn't announced M3 yet.

I'm more interested in the M3 performance. I want something that can beat SD Elite X.

It will be odd if the higher end M3 chips are released ahead of the regular M3. It's all good to have new processors that provide improvements in performance.. but lately Apple has been a bit of a hot mess with regards to releases. For such a large company to be on the back foot.

Base 10th gen iPad and 1st gen Apple Pencil... they should have had USB C version ready for that instead of a humiliating adapter required

15 inch MacBook Air... was the larger version an afterthought? it certainly looks like it was

VisionPro could end up releasing with tech thats behind their best... when it costs so much... it just looks ill thought out and rushed.

Irregular updates to many devices... at this stage a yearly fixed (or two year) update cycle for such a large company that designs its own devices and silicon would just look like a better run and thought out product lineup. When they irregularly update devices and release devices with problems... it speaks to 'rush' instead of releasing it when ready. Tarnishing their build and design reputation does cost them...

Apple: Whatever we have, just push it out! (But it's got problems!) Push it out, we need that revenue.

it will become much more expensive though, unless you will find thousands of people willing to work 13+ hours a day with next to no breaks at almost 365 days a year for a pittance

Apple will not want to lose any of it's revenue, after all
I understand, that was just me with my head in the clouds. I think that is precisely why they are trying to move more production to India, as it's still cheap and is not as geopolitically unstable. So it's win-win for them.

Wow.. this was unexpected (in a good way).
I’m upgrading from an embarrassingly old MBP so anything would have been fine TBH but always nice to catch the beginning of a release cycle.
Hoping for a few base spec bumps too.
