I got my Apple Watch Ultra with the S Orange Alpine Loop but have a little trouble getting the band over my hand. Once, on wrist it is fine! I already have a M on order and it should be here 9/28.
Same. I have a dainty ass wrist and got a small alpine loop. Once on wrist it’s fine but fitting over my hand is a challenge.

You're trying to squeeze your hand through it? You don't hook the clasp until after you put it on. No need to squeeze your hand, that would be annoying.

I'm a 175-180mm wrist. I ordered the L which fits but the hook is pretty close to the end (6 or so away?).
The M is perfect - loop is right around the center of the band. There is less play between the two straps as with this sizing.
Yes, but if you get it longer the hook won’t be on the bottom of your wrist scratching stuff like your laptop.

Medium fit my 170mm wrist perfectly, but as others point out, the ideal fit leaves the hook on the bottom. I’d size up if I were to do it again, just so the hook would wrap more of the way around and not touch my MacBook during typing!

I have a 155mm wrist and I got the size S. I hooked the clasp to the 6th or 7th slot from the other end of the strap. I don’t like too much excess band (the sport loop would wrap almost all the way around my wrist and it was annoying).

The only issue is when taking it on and off as I need to pull the clasp all the way to the end and it hits the watch all the time. Haven’t seen a dent or scratch yet but I’m wondering whether I should change to size M.

This is the position I hook the clasp
Similar size wrist. I originally had S and the clasp was really on a good looking spot at the bottom of the wrist. Same at 6 or 7 slots.

however I find it difficult to take off unless I put it all the way to the end. I have to be very careful whenever I want to take it off. So at the end I went in and swap to a medium. I need to hook to 2, 3 or 4 now. It’s not as good looking but become easier to use and it doesn’t make noise when using my MacBook Pro.

a tough call tbh.

In my scenario having roughly a 180-5mm sized wrist and choosing the Medium Alpine Starlight

When taking the Watch off over my hand, its slightly awkward to get it completely off.

The metal hook comes very close to hitting off the Watch case which I don’t like happening, over time it will start to mark.

To get the Watch off, I need to open the loop fully which will inevitably allow the hook to smack off the case. So I need to be careful. I am in the process of seeing if a Large will alleviate this issue.

So I replaced my size S with size M and the size M alpine loop does fit better and the clasp is not at the bottom of my wrist anymore. It pushes the loop you need to hook onto by 3 slots. And it’s easier to take on and off without banging against the watch

My wrist is 160mm which is supposedly the limit of the small band but my wrist takes the 7th spot leaving more room to go larger if I wanted. Putting it on I do have to be careful to not bang the clasp against the watch but with the medium band I found I had to pull too much of the loop around to put the watch on.

I toyed around with both the M and L Alpine Loop as I wasn't sure where the buckle should sit. While the medium fit great and probably had the buckle more at the bottom of my wrist (where I saw a lot of others in videos/photos), I ended up keeping the large for the simple fact that when I'd type, the buckle would click around on the table/laptop and it was annoying me. First-world problems, for sure, but I liked that the L placed the buckle a little more on the side of my wrist. My .02.

I would like to try a two piece alpine band that was sized to your wrist, like the braided solo loop, with just 3 or 4 adjustments. Because I’m not crazy about the doubled-over loop.

Which size M or L compares to the Ocean band? My Ocean band fits great but, not sure on Alpine size M or L? I think the M?

I'm loving my green Alpine. We have to remember that we're unlikely to be typing on a Macbook halfway up Mont Blanc and in that position if the hook comes adrift we don't want our AWUs falling off and down a crevasse🤣

It might be a bit of a faff to get off at security when flying but for that I just switch it out for one of my Nike sports bands

I wear an Ocean Band on the 3rd or 4th hole from the end and the large Alpine Loop is best for me. I first bought a medium sized Alpine loop, and although it worked, it was a bit of a struggle getting my hand to fit unless I really pulled the band open and risk scratching the case with the G-Hook. The large fits over my hand easily, and there are still plenty of adjustments.

As a frequent flyer, I have a small satchel where I put my watch, wallet, phone, keys, and any other loose metal items before I get to TSA security, and all of that goes into a side pocket of my back pack which is carry on. Generally, I breeze right through without so much as a by-your-leave.

Agreed. When I flew last week I didn’t bring the Alpine as I like to wear Nike sport bands for air travel. They are an easy on/off, breath well and can be scrubbed easily to wash off the travel gremlins 😅

The Alpine is my favorite band, I managed to snatch the last Starlight M in the Apple Store in Florence the other day, got the watch with the Orange, and ordered the Green one right when I received the watch, so happy owner of all 3 now :)

I am so glad I traded mine in from Small band (Only one available last Fri.) to Medium on Monday. The small DID fit around my wrist...just a slight struggle to get around my hand. Medium is perfect.

Also after seeing this brief YT short video, I would have ran into this issue with the small Alpine loop if I kept it. (Titanium clasp hitting, rubbing the Watch lip as you get this on and off.) I realize this watch will get scratched, just don't need the actual band doing most of the scratching..

You can solve some of the problems with the alpine loop by cutting off the extra loops where they overlap when clasped. The band will sit a lot more snugly against the wrist and will slide much more easily since you don't have to forcefully pull the loops through. If you leave the last few loops before the clasp, then that will act as a buffer to keep the clasp from slapping against the watch when taking it off.

The loops cut off cleanly, btw - I just cut them close to the 'stitch' and scraped off the remaining threads with my thumbnail. It leaves little lines where the loops were attached but that's all and since they're on the inside of the loop you don't see them. You can seal the end of the last loops with a hot knife just to make sure that they don't unravel. I don't know if they would, but better safe than sorry.

BTW, my clasp is dead center at the bottom of my wrist and I haven't noticed a problem with it scratching against anything. I think actually if it were clasped further then it wold be more likely to scratch on something since I usually rest my arm at a 45° - 90° angle on the desk.

Same here! The small fit me perfectly and the clasp was sitting at the centre bottom of my wrist but the clasp would hit the watch every time I take it on and off.

Got the medium and now much more room to take the watch on and off without worry about scratching or hitting the watch case.

I wear my Ocean band on the third notch to the last. Sounds like the medium might not work for me. I can’t cancel it as it’s preparing to ship. I will try it out though in case it does work out. If not, I will send it back for the large.
