Did you use Sparrow before though? The reason people are assuming those of you dumping Sparrow now also use Gmail is that Sparrow started life out as a front-end to Gmail...and was hailed as how tightly integrated it was with Gmail.

Sparrow started life as Gmail-only and later added support for IMAP. I've never used Sparrow with Gmail because I don't have a Gmail account or any other Google account.

Sparrow & Google

When I learned that google bought this company, I immediately deleted the app along with chrome. Next stop, getting rid of gmail.

Pretty funny and topical YT vid from boingboing:

So who died and made you God? AFAIK, this is still arn's forum.

Of course you do. You don't think it shows?

Back to the God thing again?

You really need to work on your reading comprehension if you are going to quote things to prove a point. That or you need to learn to not put your own bias on an article.

That lawyer wasn't even asking the court to invalidate all of Apples BS patents. He is asking the court to require Apple to offer licensing. When you pay you aren't copying.

Interesting that your only contension is that Google developed a phone OS to target multiple (IMO, crappy) blackberry-style phone hardware.

Your failure to read all the links I posted and just reposting a debunked picture shows you are not actually interested in debate. You know nothing of the topic and are just here to elicit responses.

Why don't you try having an open mind and read all the evidence I pointed showing why you're completely misinterpreting that single picture ?

Not to mention this thread isn't about Android, it's about Sparrow. You've thus gone completely off topic and derailed the thread. What is your purpose on this forum ? Disrupting our conversations ? That's pretty mean of you.

Oh Well . . .

. . . and I was just about to try out Sparrow too after hearing so much about it . . . :(

Oh well . . . I guess I'll just go back to Thunderbird . . . Oh, wait, that's dying too . . . :(

We really need more quality email clients on OS X, don't we . . .

To any aspiring programmers out there willing to fill the void:

Number 1 Killer Feature: Exchange Support (MAPI/RPC, EWS, OWA, or ActiveSync) with Calendar Integration!

I don't care how you do it, just do it! I can't stand Outlook, and I can't get around it with my new job!

Mail.app just doesn't cut it! :(

What about postbox?

Mail app is crashing not so stable and not good with gmail.

I'd be on it if it had Exchange Support (MAPI/RPC, EWS, OWA, or ActiveSync)! Without that, it's no better than Thunderbird! :(

It might be feasible for them to add support! Postbox already has the Lightning add-on from Thunderbird for Exchange Calendars! ;)

I don't wanna have a smartphone anymore, I feel as if by having a smartphone I'm associating myself with all this internet debating trash.

I laugh at all the Google followers who love to take shots at the Apple users, calling them fanboys and poke fun of their "walled gardens" when in reality, they are the ones being "led on" by Google. Their entire OS is one big walled garden. If you want the latest androidOS, you have to buy a Nexus phone (walled garden). If not, you have to wait in line until your manufacturer says you can get it while you watch others use it freely. They don't care that 89% of Android users don't even have ICS yet and they are pushing out the Jellybean. They put out a fragmented product and don't care who does what with it.

LOL you don't even need a phone for the latest version of android. Google gives it away free to anyone who wants it.

why did you even have chrome installed in the first place? its not like chrome and gmail were just being bought by google.

You probably don't know about the Bungie-Microsoft case, do you?

Man I was at the MacWorld Expo where I first saw the small demo for Mac game called "Halo" and noticed the Microsoft BU booth right across the way. The MacBU team were all checking out the same game demo and i always thought they were the reason for Microsoft getting it since the XBOX was only months away.

I miss my old RAZR flip for other reasons. We've become so obsessed with mobile devices, every soccer Mom and even teenager has an iPhone or Droid, etc. Do we really need a small computer with us at all times? I hardly call on my iPHONE as texting and email are the go-to methods of communication(s).

It's making us less social animals (physically) and defining us through our electronic devices. Rather sad if you ask me.

I was hoping video communication would become a standard. I know it will take time with mobile carriers to support the bandwidth. However, I was excited when Apple implemented "Answering Machine" in iChat in a Leopard beta in 2006. This allowed you to leave and record video away messages through OS X. With iDevices supporting FaceTime, I would love to see more of this incorporated, especially for the deaf.

Anyone know alternatives to Sparrow that are promising? Fluent sounds good, but it's web based, which is not good for bussiness users on the go.
Wish PostBox will improve their UI (specially their left pane)

Maybe this opens the door for new developers to take sparrows place!

Anyone have any other alternatives that are not the usual old school email clients?

I don't know I feel sort of cheated. They placed the app on sale last week for the first time, and I am sure like others, I bought it. Then a week later it's sold and is not longer being developed. Seems like a big cash grab just before the sale.

I think I am going to request a refund. It's just does not sit right. I am sure they were in talks before the app went on sale.

What do you think?

Don't know what you are talking about. Gmail is great on iOS and android. Haters gonna hate.

i'm sure that the gmail app on android is good and all that, but on iOS its just a wrapper for the web view, nothing special and leaves a lot to be desired.

At least the gmail app doesn't crash on my 4S half as much as the stock mail app.

I think you paid money for an app and you got the app you paid for. No app comes with guarantees of updates for life, or guarantees that it won't get bought out by people who you disagree with for purely asinine reasons.
