Alumacase

I got mine also, all black showed up about 30 minutes ago and I took alot of pictures and went on a drive and I will post the pics here in a minute when I get them uploaded but all I am going to say is, the packaging is nice. The on button is kind of hard to push because my fingers are kinda large but the case really does look nice. The case fits fairly well but the sound of the case sliding up the antenna kind of made me squirm but when I went on the drive to test the gps, bad news guys, it does the exact same thing as the element and the atomic. First it would not follow me and then it found me but it was showing me in the field and not the road plus it was lagging behind by 50 yards or so then I would stop and it would stop also but way past the intersection that I had just stopped at. My signal strength was lower than usual so I had my apple bumper with me and switched the cases out real quick and my signal went back up. I did not think to take my camera on the drive but i did compare the signal in my house in the exact same location with the alumacase and the apple bumper and the pictures will prove my point. This case is NO better than any of the others in reception or gps. What upsets me the most is that alumacase came on here and made all sorts of claims on their case about how good the reception was and how well the gps worked and even went into other threads and posted the same things so I jump at the chance to get one and when it gets here, its just as disappointing as the atomic. The element actually did better in all test I put them through. I am in no way bashing this company and mean them no harm but when I put the case through its paces and tested it like it should be tested and it failed to meet his claims and my expectations, it makes me upset. So I will post the pictures here in a minute and then I will contact alumacase about returning the case. I really really wanted this case to work because I am sick of trying to find a decent aluminum case but now the only one left is the fusionwerkz raw and if that one does not work then I guess I will keep using my apple bumper.

I was holding the phone is this picture, I am not sure why the db's jumped up so much when I picked up the phone but it did and does every time.

Update Pics

Here's more pics, I would get more but I have to get to this wedding. The case looks really good. I didn't do any extensive testing, but I have to agree with UFC my GPS wasn't as good with the case on and also my reception did reduce, but mine wasn't that bad that it bothered me. I do have texture wraps all around the phone though. Its probably why its not that bad. Probably in a week I can give a better opinion on it.

I think the conclusion we will all come to eventually, is there is no way to wrap the I4 in a metal case of any kind and have optimum reception/GPS, insulation or not....
 
Any info on tracking numbers yet? A little bit pissed, Element did the same thing saying they shipped them but in reality they didn't.

What type of back cover is this?

What is the shipping method of the product? USPS? My mail came today and I received nothing! I live in Socal too... =( sad....
 
So didnt receive the aluma today, btu did receive the delrin/graphite hybrid from atomic - in the process of finalizing a vid review right now so if you're interested, check the atomic thread.

Meanwhile this is definitely discouraging to hear about the alumacase...I really had high hopes, and liked the look etc etc...but it seems the hunt continues :(
 
Honestly I think your exactly right. I have tried the Element, Atomic and now the Alumacase and I mean no offense to any of these companies because I know they are all trying to make good products but I just don't think its possible to get one of these cases to work. Maybe the new Atomic case will work since its not aluminum. From what I have seen its looks like aluminum and still looks good but its some composite or something. Maybe the raw will work, if not than there are no more aluminum cases to try. So its either the raw or the new Atomic. I'll try the raw first and wait for some reviews on the Atomic. Like I said, I hope the best for alumacase, its just not for me because it just don't perform like it should.

If its not clear, let me make it so for you.

If you got the email about the shipping mistake you are not getting a tracking number.

Assuming it was sent USPS a tracking number isn't issued for anything other then Express shipping, and for $5 I'm not expecting Express shipping.

At best we would have gotten a delivery confirmation number, which pretty much tells you what you already know, your case has been delivered.
 
Looking forward to your review. I have seen a few pics of this case and would like to know what you think and how it performed.

Great looking combo. too bad about the gps and reception. My reception is poor at home already, I am not willing to compromise unfortunately. sigh.
 
Alumacase

I received shipping confirmation on Wed afternoon and finally got my case today (in SoCal). The case looks pretty good and fits well even with screen protector, vinyl wrap around the edges and back. I have pretty strong signal at home so I can't tell the difference in reception. I will test GPS reception will driving around this weekend.

**UPDATE**
I drove around with the GPS and compass on and the case definitely affects the reception. The compass kept on asking me to recalibrate due to interference and the GPS was erratic. On a lot of instances, it was off by 500ft or so. However when I tested my 3G download speeds, it was normal.

Apple bumper: -72 vs Alumacase -88 :(

ufcfighter, is the alumacase same size as the bumper? Trying to gauge if existing holsters for the bumper will work with aluma. TIA.
 
Got my silver case today (Central Florida). It is excellent! The case went on very smooth and I didn't notice any noise or grinding when sliding the case on the phone.

Not true at all, I ship things all the time USPS Priority and I give my buyers a ...... Gasp......a TRACKING NUMBER!!! Wow I know crazy huh?!

Edit. Early thoughts.

Waiting on pictures but already I can tell you this case isn't going to be any better for me then the Vapor. I live in a valley and reception is pretty weak in most parts of the house. I just went down to my work area to install the case and it already has killed my signal and sent it into "searching" and finally no signal.

The build quality is okay, but not as good as Vapor. You can tell the bottom and top aren't made together and as a result they don't line up and actually create an "edge" to catch on. The case also caused my Power Support Screen protector to peel up at the top and bottom of the screen.

Love the color, but so far this is going to be a no go on my end.
 
This thread is definitely depressing...Alumacase really got my hopes up high. I'm still going to reserve judgement until I actually get some hands on time, of course, but these early reviews are not exactly screaming with joy.

+1 sorry to say. My high hopes for this case are quickly fading.
