What type of Anodizing is used? Type 2? Or Type 3 mil-spec hard anodized?

Is there a type 1 or type 0 that equal super crappy, cause that could explain some things about a certain other case brand. Wear is something I haven't given much thought to and now that I think about it, apart from the random scratch I wonder how long it will take to wear the coating off when you typically hold your phone, sorta like how many licks to the center of a Tootsie Pop. We may never know.

that "other case" looks like they use cheap anodize style paint from krylon or something...the pics make it look like a super cheap finish like they just paint em to look anodized...which would explain the flaking of and easily scratching etc

Just a thought... it would be pretty awesome if another version of this case came out that had:

1. back plate built in so it's not just an aluminum bumper
2. built in side buttons so that both sides can be extremely symmetrical and the volume buttons can be protected as well.

I completely agree. its a big step up symmetrically from the vapor imo but i'm still not a fan of how it dips in where the volume buttons are. i think integrated volume buttons and a version with some sort of built in backplate (not necessairly aluminum) would sell me on this case. that and of course depending on the price :) i don't want to feel like i need a case for my case cause its too costly to replace.

I wonder if I can take a bumper type case, and surgically put it over the volume buttons and inside the alumacase?!

Alumacase, are you preparing to be flooded with orders. Meaning is there a large stock in all colors? Or are we gonna be waiting after ordering, for you to manufacture each order? I dont think that has been addressed yet.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one constantly checking macrumors for updates on this case!!

I want a silver one with silver carbon fiber.

This is real carbon fiber and not just "carbon fiber pattern" right??

Alumacase designed the case totally different from Elementcase and other knock offs of Element. This is how we managed to maintain the reception issue. We also designed the case where all the buttons are easily reachable to no other buttons are needed.

Here are some of the different Carbon Fiber backings that we will offer, not just your traditional black.

We have a 1x1 Black Carbon Fiber, 2x2 Black Carbon Fiber, Black and Red Carbon Fiber, Blue and Black Carbon Fiber, Titanium, Silver, Yellow, and Pink.

Ahh!! Yes! There is a gunmetal I didn't even notice that.

I'm out of the loop. May I ask what the "other" case is? I saw someone else mentioning Fusion in this thread...

well since it seems we are talking about cheap knock-offs which probably have cheap anodizing I'll have to say the Atomic Case.

Hey alumacase- would the case work with a wood skin like this?

@alumacase, $25 flat shipping rate seems pretty high considering it is a phone case. I ship aircraft floor mats for a lot less than that. Is there a mistake? Any discounts for us MacRumors folks? Can't hurt to ask, right?
