God you are annoying,
You are complaining, I don't care what perspective you think you have on this. I'm 17 too, so just a year older than you. Funny thing is though; I have plenty of money, I have my own Apple computer too, and I'm about to have an iPhone (maybe/maybe not). But you know what, my parents haven't helped me pay for any of this. Nope no allowance or anything. In America (so yes, I'm assuming you're an American and if not, disregard anything I'm saying) you can get a job at 15. Jobs help you pay for stuff, like your little iphone that you so badly desire.

Seriously kid, don't go off on a rant saying you don't have any money when I doubt you even have a job. If you get good hours at a place of an employment you'll be surprised at how much you can make monthly at just minimum wage.

Synopsis: Get a job, don't say you can't cause that's just irresponsible and ignorant.

Now I know the economy is tough too, so it's easier for me to say go get a job than to actually go and get a job. BUT, you give me the feeling you haven't even tried looking for one and that's why I sound like a jerk... if you have applied places but simply haven't heard back then I hope you one day soon find a job.

I grew up always wanting Apple products too. I didn't get one until two years (2008) after college graduation. That was a MacBook Pro. A few months later, I bought the previous iPod classic when Apple updated it. I plan to get the next iPhone as my first smartphone. Patience is key. Don't go into debt trying to get something when you turn 18 just to have it. You'll regret it.

I have applied and I have had a few jobs and I got a job right now but aside of the fact that some of my money ends up going to my family cause of this ****** economy taking a toll on us I hardly end up with anything saved and when I have close to $200 dollars something always comes up and then there goes the money and I just want to find someone who is willing to sell it to me that will let me pay it in small amounts of maybe $30 or $40 every week or two since I cant pay in full and all at once, I doubt anyone will do this but I want to give this a shot and before you start acting like an ass learn your facts, your close to an adult and you dont even know how to get your facts strait or even ask, and just hanging around on forms like this cause if you really had a job and have all that you say you have you wouldnt be on here, get a life.

Good Grades = Good Job = iPhone

Not all of us have good families that can provide us with that type of money for that type of expensive device, I like the suggestion tho, thanks.

Hello, Ive always wanted an iphone for the past 4 years since the 1st generation iphone was released, I remember seeing Steve Jobs go out on stage and start talking about a device that would revolutionize everything and would offer everything the user would want.

A phone, internet connected device and an ipod. Soon the iphone was shown to the world but you should know all this by now without the need for it to have been said.

Point being is that its been four long, hard years and I have never even laid hands one cause I haven't had the money and doubt ever will. Ive always wanted to have one to hack and special customize with cydia, and the iDroid hack which is still in development for iphone 3GS and iphone 4.

I am tired of being tied down to my computers but also my computer isnt smart at all. I known what you are thinking, I am complaining but I really am not, I just wish there would come a day where I could finally own my own Apple device.

The closest I have ever gotten to have anything related to Apple is itunes and safari for my computer, other than those two programs/products of Apple; I have never owned an Apple device in my entire life or even used one or have even seen one up close.

I am only 16 and am currently working to try to save up enough for at least an ipod touch (64GB) 4th generation or newer. If possible, I would really love to buy an iphone 4 or a later generation of the iphone.

Sadly I am no closer to owning an Apple device than I was a year or more ago. If anyone out there has an iphone 4 that no one wants or wants to sell that is a legitimate iphone 4 that perfectly works, minor to no scratches, still in the box if possible and with everything it came with, I am sure we could come to terms about a trade of devices or possible cash if I can get a better job.

I doubt anyone out there doesn't want an iphone 4 and I doubt even more that anyone will respond to this in a polite way and be realistic with me to workout a compromise with me but I still would like to give this a shot. Message me here, Thanks everyone and happy holidays and I hope you have an excellent New Year.
Don't worry bud. I was 16-17 when the first iPhone came out, and I wanted one SO bad, but I thought the same thing...i'll never be able to buy it. By the time you're 18, if you have a job, and aren't one of those lazy college kids that don't work, then you'll have no problem getting one. It'll be easy to save up $200 at that point and the $85 i pay a month is a breeze. I actually got OFF my parents Verizon plan to get it, what a risk!

All i'm saying is that don't say never. I did once and now I have all the Apple products listed below, and that's just what I CURRENTLY own. I had a 3GS as well. I'm also getting the new MBP refresh if it comes out as rumored. So don't fret, you'll get all the Apple products in time if you just hold out! I know it's hard...I had to wait like 6 months to get the iPad...that was difficult. Keep strong!

If you took the time to read and comprehend my post, which you clearly didn't, you would have noticed that I said if the economy is what's holding you back then you have my empathy. But, that aside I'm now going to call you out. At $7.25 (minimum wage where I live) you'll get $200 in 30 hours (after taxes and all that). Assuming you work at a place that gives you good hours, say 15 a week (good for a minor) you'd have the phone in two weeks. That is, if you can be responsible and save that money. And for reference, I didn't need any facts- As I said before, I told you that you would have my sorrow if the reason that you couldn't get one is because of financial hardships upon your family.

And for the record, I do have everything I stated; I see no reason to lie and try and live up to something I'm not on the internet- it's stupid. And if you checked my forum usage you would see I haven't posted on these boards in a couple of weeks. So how about you, one who is also being close to an adult, get your facts straight before calling people out.

I have a great life bro, so thanks for your concern. With my job I find myself happy with getting the things I want, but not only that, but I have well developed relationships with the people around me too.

So I'm a happy kid. I'm just tired of ignorant ones like you who are always asking for help. You should realize that being in debt over a phone is stupid. Debt is a bad thing and that's just the start to how the economy went through/is going through what it is.

Peace.

Cut the kid some slack.

And the economic crisis occurred because of sub-prime loans with interest rates that started at 2% and were jacked up to 18% immorally, not because of errant spending, it's completely different. The fact that people are saving their money right now and aren't out circulating the economy is actually hurting us worse. For a person who just told someone to "get their facts straight", you obviously need to do some fact checking yourself.

Thanks for the support dude, and it is very difficult, I am an impatient person but I hope sooner or alter the iphone that I so badly want well come soon, thanks again.

I still doubt you have everything you claim and I dont even have to check your profile to know hat I want to know cause honestly I barely on here my self and I have my facts in check, and also at 7.25 an hour you would make it in exactly 27.6 hours or 27 hours and 10 minutes.

Why do you need the 64GB iPod touch? Get an 8gb. It's more affordable.

I agree with the majority, stop whining, I bought my first ipod at 18, it was out of date the month later, but I loved it and I lived.

You're not even old enough to have a job yet, unless you're a paper boy or a celebrity. It sounds like your parents can afford an iPhone or iPad, but aren't willing to pay the monthly bills.

Here in Kentucky you can work at age 14. Ive been looking for jobs and putting in applications but they don't except me because "I'm too young" but maybe it's for the better so I have more time to studie. I want to be a cardiologist or a neuro surgeon. :)

The 3GS is alright but I am not going to settle for the 3GS, I will get the iphone 4 (or better) sooner or later mark my words, I am not a beggar, I am simply disgusted that Apple/Att make it so difficult to get an iphone in the US.

The more you talk the more begin to think that you a little snob whos parents won't let him have a iPhone because he's already too snoby. Not trying to sound rude but a original iPhone should be good enough I mean after all it's still a iPhone. If you want a iPhone I'll ship you my old 3G. /warning: 3G has a broken screen and has been hollowed out\

Just start saving now, don't get tunnel vision on the iPhone 4, next year Apple will release a slightly improved even shinier one and you might be able to afford it.

Op.... God help you...

U said att and apple make difficult to own iPhone? That's because you are too young and probably don't have any credits to start. Att wants deposit of 500 dollars. This applies to anyone including getting phones with other carriers.

People at craiglist aren't willing to negotiate. That's because iPhone 4 retails for 599 dollars and people want money as close to that amount. When u negotiate, you have to offer the money or something else in return, what price did u offer?

Even if u get an iPhone, u will most likely going to struggle to pay monthly bill anyway...

iPod touch is obviously better choicemat this point.

I don't mean to be harsh because i understand having wants and desires that are out of reach (and i'm a 24 year old with a good job), but having the latest technology for personal desires should be the least of your concerns based on what you are describing as your life.

If you are 16 and working (good for you) and are helping your family make ends meet (even better) then you have bigger issues than obtaining an iphone 4. An iphone is a luxury item and the 4 is the highest luxury in its category. Buy a cheaper phone and save for a rainy day. At your age, an iphone is nothing more than a fashion statement because it serves of no purpose to your job or managing your life. A basic cell phone will serve any need you have.

I see that people some people are trying to start jumping on me and I get that but hear me out. I really, seriously, really am not one to go and jump on people. But when people start begging for ways to get something they can't afford it gets rather annoying, especially when the kid is someone my age and I've been there and done that.

Now, economics- no, I would never intentionally insult someone due to their economic/financial hardships. For those of you who thought I was doing so, that was not the case- by any means.

And the economic crisis occurred because of sub-prime loans with interest rates that started at 2% and were jacked up to 18% immorally, not because of errant spending, it's completely different. The fact that people are saving their money right now and aren't out circulating the economy is actually hurting us worse. Mike, I'm not one to start an argument. Really, as hard as that may be for anyone here to believe, I'm not. I was trying to make a (uneducated) point when I referenced to the economy. So you got me, and that's why I limited everything I had to say in regards to the economy, because as you know, I'm an "uneducated" young adult- in terms of politics. So that's why I capped what I said.

All I was trying to say was, having debt at our age is not something we should start off with financially. My parents raised me to save a lot and spend a little. And I find it hard for anyone to disagree with that. But to each their own...

I guess it's safe to say you got me, but because of my limited knowledge of the current economic situation I'm really not going to comment further on that matter.

I still doubt you have everything you claim and I dont even have to check your profile to know hat I want to know cause honestly I barely on here my self and I have my facts in check, and also at 7.25 an hour you would make it in exactly 27.6 hours or 27 hours and 10 minutes.

I really don't care what you do or don't doubt. I know what I have.

And thanks dude... I really didn't know how to use a calculator to divide 200 by 7.25. So thanks...

Sarcasm aside; If you had a job you'd realize that if you are being paid at $7.25 an hour you would realize you're not really getting $7.25 an hour because of taxes. So I said 30 hours to account for taxes.

But thanks for the math lesson.

I dont plan to go on the month to month (at least not on att with its lousy reception). I planning to jailbreak it and get it on tmobile, simple mobile or a ispot from clear (since the iphone has the mics and GPS system unlike the ipod touch, I wont need accessories to get those functions) while still keeping the opition open if I would ever want to go back on to GSM if att would improve their service or another gsm network is built say as I dont know, vodaphone, they wanted the cingular spectrum but didnt recieve it and still want to be in the US without a "partnership" with verizon and want to just sell their shares with verizon and crate their own rival network like how they want in China currently.

Well... well...
Looks like we have a boy who wants pretty much everything, but doesn't want to pay money for it.

1. You would have to pay full price for your iphone 4. No doubt. You don't even want AT&T, so apple will charge full price and that's 599 dollars. On ebay, people want similar amounts or higher.

2. You want to unlock it.

3. You want to jailbreak it.

Good luck with that. There is no such thing as freebie. I did not have a cellphone until I was 19 years old and it was a phone with VGA camera on it. I don't see how you should get a special treatment. No way you will get discount on one of the hottest selling cell phones in the planet.

You also might want to reconsider the using the word negotiate in the future. Negotiation means you are trying to come to an agreement with another person. In order to come to an agreement, you need to give them something in order to get something. Based on what I heard so far, you don't want to give anything. You don't want AT&T contract. You don't want to pay monthly bills. You don't want to pay full retail price for the phone.

That's not how negotiation works in real world. You have to compromise something to gain something. You cannot just ask something and give nothing in return.
