My 12Pro was flush against a flat surface with a silicon case. Got the same case for a 14 Pro, it wobbles way too much. One of the many reasons I returned it today and went back to the 12 pro.

14 Pro cameras are ridiculously large now. I don't mind them making them larger in diameter but the height just sucks.

For you guys that have the 14 Pro/Pro Max and have put in a case, is the bump something you think about?
I’m currently using a Spigen case with a sliding door over the camera, so no not really. It’s protecting the camera lenses and keeping them clean in my purse pocket and jeans pocket. I think it was called Spigen Optick or Optik.

I kinda look at the screen when using my phone. The only people that usually see the size of my bumps are people I don’t know, so who cares.

If you’re buying a Pro, it’s most likely for the camera. Want a quality camera, you get larger sensor and lenses. I don’t see what the issue is.
Do they all get get get get drunk? They get drunk on all your bumps? Your bumps your bumps your bumps. Check ‘em out.

Sorry had to 🫠

If I set it face-down, the screen is far more likely to be scratched and that also defeats the purpose of having an AOD. Not to mention that I like to read the news over coffee, and occasionally reply to a text while doing so. The wobble is incredibly irritating.
I suggested putting the screen facedown assuming people put scratch protector screen film on the display.
The wobble reading the news over coffee? Well... need to be creative..
I fold a small face towel up roughly the size of my phone and place it on top. Experiment to see what you can place underneath to help absorb the wobbling. Tim would recommend an Apple Polishing Cloth but I can't.

No screen protector. Until the screen's oleophobic coating wears off, anyway.

And yes - I always put the phone on something to alleviate the wobbling. I even put a rubber door stopper sticker in the opposite corner on the back of the phone, which helped. But then I had a black rubber bump on the back of my phone. Lol

Regarding that wobble, has anyone checked to see if there are any iPhone case manufacturers who make cases that compensate for the bump allowing the iPhone to lie flat - face up?
If you use the Apple MagSafe wallet, it compensates for the wobble with or without a case.

I understand your frustration and you are not the only one for sure. Just have to find what best suits your preferences. If Apple put all three lenses across horizontally, the angle created by the height of lenses would tilt the screen nicely so its easy to scroll while drinking your coffee!!!
But Apple is Apple.

We have to submit to using a case or using our creativity.

Indeed. I guess the reason they do it is that transitions between lenses is fairly smooth, as the lens arrangement puts them all in close proximity to each other. Still, the wobble is lame. 🙄

Anyone with a 14 Pro in an Apple case have any problems with wireless charging in the car?

My car has a completely flat surface for the iPhone to lay on and I’m concerned that the bump and it’s big slope/gap will pull the phone away from the charging pad and will prevent it from working.
Charge it at home/in the office, or use a cable in the car....
How much charging do you get done using a wireless charger in the car anyway?

We take several 10+ hour round trips annually, see the kids, vacations, etc. Putting my iPhone on the wireless charger in the car while running CarPlay for 10 hours keeps it from dying and gives me a full charge when we reach our destination. And it's very convenient to just plop it down in its compartment in the console ahead of the cupholders, it's where I'd put it down anyway, and no need for wires and car system confusion between wired/wireless CarPlay.

I'd rather skip the upgrade completely and live with a 2+ year old iPhone than give up wireless charging in my car.

Love the camera. Doesn’t bother me.
Just curious - what did you upgrade from?

I honestly can't tell the difference between the 12P and 14P pictures unless I really pixel peep. The background bokeh on the 14P is *slightly* better and there's definitely more detail on small textures like skin; but you really have to zoom in to notice and at the end of the day we're still talking about a mobile sensor that can't replace a real camera If the 14P made me feel like I didn't need my A7III when I wanted truly good photographs, then I would be accepting of the physical bloat. But, compared to real cameras, it's still a compromise. It's still a phone-camera and so it feels like a bad trade IMHO.

As I said before, ironically the selfie camera is soo much better. Display is definitely better. This is the first time I've ever upgraded an iPhone and felt like the new device was a mixed bag and my old one was better in some ways. I've never had this experience before.

Thanks. Good to know that there are options out there when its time to upgrade:)

Ok well I stand corrected. I stand by my statement that *most cases* it's not noticeably improved. But, here's a shot with some direct sunlight facing the lens, which isn't too big of an edge case. 14P did handle the glare a lot better. I don't think I need to clarify which is which...
