So the new iPhone is coming out and all I'm reading on the forum are people complaining about it. I need someone to put things into perspective for me because from what I can see:

1. Brand new billet aluminum or steel unibody just like their laptop process (also, is there even another manufacturer that does this?)

2. A larger screen for more real estate, and no more video cropping

3. LTE

4. Quad core A6 (most likely)

5. Improved speakers

6. Smaller proximity footprint on face from pics (good for white version)

7. Thinner

8. Larger battery

9. iOS 6 with long awaited turn by turn

I'm just a little confused with what appears to be Apple creating a whole new manufacturing unibody process, larger screen, all new chips inside (not to mention probably starting from scratch on the custom silicone and organization for the internals), LTE, faster etc, and all I hear is complaints.

I just don't get it...

A lot of people don't "get it" when Apple releases a new product (Intel switch, iPod, iPad)....yet they're still the most successful company in the world.

I agree. The iPad 3 launch was a serious flop. I seriously went into the apple store on launch day and they had hundreds of unsold iPads whereas it used to be completely sold out.

I expect the iPhone ?5? launch to flop even worse. Apple were just a trend and it's falling quick.

I used to be a fanboy but now apples BORING.

I really had to smile when I read this! Apple plans the best roll out of a much anticipated product, ensuring that everyone who wants one can have one, rather than waiting and having to camp out at their stores every day and you call this a failure!! Also selling out of pre-orders because people are used to having to wait for the demand to catch up with the supply. They get it right this time..... I mean really... some people are NEVER happy. Let me guess, unless you have to wait for something and can't get it when it hits the stores, it's a flop....

It's more fun to play russian roulette with your shopping time? Jeez maybe if I go in next week I might luck into one?

Eh.. I wouldn't call it a flop BTW. It offered nothing worth of excitement. iPad 2 was a great change. Slimmer, better battery, great speed, and so on. iPad 3 is pretty much identical to iPad 2, with improved display. It was simply not impressive enough to gather hordes of people.

It's not going to be Quad Core because of LTE. It will be Quad-Graphics like the iPad.

This is simply fascinating . . . the OP is complaining about a product that isn't even released yet.

The headline is 'Am I missing something?'

I'd say he/she is missing A LOT.

Yes, but the state it was bought in has nothing to do with what it is right now. I can use same argument and say that OSX was not developed by Apple.

And Apple just bought Siri on/around the 4S release, and I'm sure it will improve as well.

These kinds of arguments can go back/forth all day long.

Then explain iPad 2 launch. Specifically no early preorders online, no preorders accepted in any store, 5pm launch time. Apple wanted a zoo after seeing empty Verizon stores for iPhone Verizon launch, and they got it. They artificially created these lines to remind people that "Hey, we are still cool"

It's not a secret that Apple is losing their edge. They cannot gain any market share in PC market. They already lost to Android in phone market share. As much as anti Apple that I am, I hope they pull some serious trick out of their hat for iPhone 5, because they've been playing catchup for quite some time already, and iOS 6 was a true statement to that. Look at 4S vs 4. Slapped same chip they have in iPad 2 and added Siri. They couldn't even do Siri themselves, they bought a company. On Google side of things, their voice search is inhouse developed.

Apple launched the iPad 2 without having enough stock. The stores sold out quickly and then the rest of the product seemed to be allocated slowly.

Apple just hit 12% marketshare and has hit their numbers for what 23 quarters now?

Stopped reading the rest of your post. If you cannot be trusted to provide correct info my time with you is done.

The have gained market share in the PC market every quarter for 6 straight years.

They already lost to Android in phone market share.

I didn't realize the competition was over. What did Android win?

(It's funny to see Android fans bragging about the market share title while Apple and iOS users enjoy all the prizes.)

There are more Vista installs than OSX any versions combined. In fact, according to this site, OSX lost marketshare.

But no, Android didn't win, but neither did iOS. And frankly, I do not want any of them to win. As long as both environments are at each other throats, I will enjoy fruits of competition.

Umm... did you even read the post? I'm baffled by OTHER people complaining about it...

I'm actually probably going to be impressed with the amount of work put into it. From the looks, they have probably had to start over using a unibody approach, with all new chipsets and custom silicone etc...

Pulling random statistics out of your rear doesn't prove your point. OS webshare for one month is not the same as PC market share.

Check it yourself. There are number of respected sites that will show you OSX graph is very steady holding as a horizontal line. And very close to the bottom of a chart.

Now you're contradicting yourself. You said they were losing ground. Now they're holding steady?

I checked 4 different sites, and all are showing the OSX has gained from this time last year; steadily.

Its like Democrats and Republicans arguing over budgets, and deficits. They both think they're correct.

Can I see some links?

Or people actually, I don't know, need to work, instead of dick around?

If OS X or iPhone or iOS doesn't work for you...use something else.

Apple is not one of the most profitable businesses on the planet because their products aren't valued by huge numbers of people.

But if you don't like them, don't use 'em. Why you waste your time posting on this message board is another question, but hey: more power to you. Must have a lot of free time.

:)

To answer the OP's question. The reason everyone here appears to be complaining is because lately the place is full of Android users and Android posts. It is not the Apple fans that are doing most of the complaining/hating lol.

Apparently the mods have a 'fix' for this issue but as of yet nothing for them on what they plan to do. I glance at the iPhone forum each day, see all the android related posts and think "nope still the same" before closing my browsing tab.

It's not a very enjoyable place to be anymore but maybe I'll be a little more active on here again when (or should that be IF) they clean the place up a bit.
