Well I consider myself a pretty good typer and I find the MB/MBA keyboard pretty easy to use and easier than my old iMac G5 keyboard but I don't know how good it is to play games on though.

I don't need an update. :) I'm not excited about the rumored chiclet keyboard. I cannot function with those style keyboards and they would ruin the professional look of the Macbook Pro.

Please... not the chicklet keyboard on the MBP!! It's just so damn cheap looking, not upscale at all. And, it's kind of pointless, actually. Where's the advantage, other than being cheaper to produce? Count me out. Rather than excited if this is true, I'd be not interested in upgrading to this form factor.

While I've become used to the chiclet keyboard on both my MacBook and my wireless keyboard, I have to say I much prefer the current MBP keyboard. I was browsing our wedding pictures on a MBP from our photographer the other night and it was fantastic. So much so I have talked my wife into getting a new MBP and giving her my MB...and I'm not sure I want to wait for Tuesday.

Although I can't be certain that its the case with your experience, everyone needs time to adjust to a new keyboard, so you can't discount it after an hour.

Saying your not excited about a updated mac product on a mac enthusiasts website is a little odd. Maybe cause you can't buy one, you're not interested, which is fine, but who cares then? It doesn't contribute to anyone else well being as it only pertains to you. We might as well have a conversation about my last bowel movement.

as much as many people do not want the chicklet style keyboard on the macbook pro. I think it's safe to say from the rumors and leaks that the MBP will have one.

I've used both keyboards for a long period now and to be honest i don't have a problem with either.

And that for me raises an important question: why does Apple want to transition everything to the chicklet style keyboard? I don't see any advantage it has over the macbook pro keyboard really.

And if they did it because it's better to type on then OK..at least there is a valid reason.

But i don't see any. Again, I am happy with either but just not sure why Apple would do it if it upsets a lot of people who don't like it. :confused:

I like everything from the MBP except the keyboard. A MBP shell with the MBa keyboard without the black key's would be perfect.

Maybe the option of which keyboard you want with it when you built it, or buy it at an Apple Store.

Definitely something like that; everyone's happy then! Hopefully......

trust me wait

if the new 1s suck then buy a previous gen. at a big discount. so even if you dont like the new ones, the old ones will be for sale cheaper.

The same reason Sony did. It's, wait for it...

THINNER. Yep, it's a more compact design since the keys have less travel, and being countersunk means no screen imprints. The new KB means they might be able to shave a mm or two off the case height, which is oh-so-important.

I'm quite excited about the update... even though I'm won't be upgrading for at least another year..

As for all of the hate for chicklet keyboard... it's called muscle memory (or finger memory?) and of course your going to suck at typing for awhile, Give it some time. Besides, Apple obviously is going to change the keyboard if you like it or not. So it's would be best to accept what coming because it's never going to change back. I for one like the chicklets because they don't require any pressure to press a key, and Apple changing all of their keyboards to one style gives us uniformity when working between a desktop or a notebook.

So now that the new pics are out, what do people think about the new MBP?

I think the new MBP looks hideous. It looks like a Compaq or Toshiba with that black glossy bezel. And glossy only? I feel the value of my Santa Rosa MBP rising.

Add me to the list of people not excited about the MBP/MBA refresh.

I already have an Air. I want a Mac Pro refresh and for work, a Xserve refresh. With a Mac Pro refresh, I will have the Mac Pro Air combo.

I just spent an hour typing on my friend's MBA. I found the MBA keyboard really annoying to use, it had that click that makes the whole computer feel fragile. Also, I realized that I'm not very precise on landing my fingers when I type fast; on the MBA my fingers would often hit the empty space between the keys. For example, in typing "reason" on my Macbook Pro, I essentially press down R-E-A simultaneously and just gently slide my hand towards the left, and voila "rea" gets typed in an instant. Think of it as similar to legato on the piano. But I have trouble doing that on the MBA keyboard. I don't actually press down and lift each finger.

I hate the AIR keyboard myself

Really do,

A step backwards imo. I've always wanted aluminum keys (either chiclet or preferably Pro)...something is just wrong w/ the look of this thing but I guess I'll have to see it in person, the spy pix are rather weak.

Everything I wanted looks like its not happening:
* keep Pro keyboard (or at least make it aluminum)
* matte finish
* 2 FireWire ports
* no black bezel

The deal breaker for me is the 2nd FW port not being there (even as BTO). With my luck in these predictions/rumors there won't even be a speed bump.

To only way to assess is to wait until they are actually unveiled. Once the features and specs are out people will be able to make a decision.

So many people have waited for these things to come out. Overall, I hope for their sake it will be worth the wait.

I'm not impressed by the looks of the leaked pics, but I'm in no hurry to upgrade so the new design may grow on me by the time I need to.

I had a similar reaction to the blue and white G3 when it was released, but it was my first Mac and served me well for many years.

I'm sure it will have the same obsession with thinness at the cost of performance, it will have VERY poor graphics for something that has a "Pro" in its title, it will be very hot, because it's so thin, and it will still be insanely overpriced.

You guys asked for it. ;)

*cries and throw things*

;)

well apparantly you guys arent the only ones not to hyped. if your following the giz or engadget blogs theres alot less reporters than usual.

I just saw a blip on msnbc saying "apple is releasing a new laptop, we have the info for you in just a bit".

:( Why isnt there an actual tech news channel, all we have is idiots claiming "new" for updated and will probably just report on how pretty it is.
