Those of you who can't seem to get used to it, switch to the lowest "1" setting rather than the default "2" setting. It feels more natural like a physical home button. The default "2" is actually too strong IMO and hence unnatural.

In actual in-hand use, I much prefer it, greatly to my surprise. However, sitting on a table, it's very difficult to tell that it's been pressed - and this is something I do fairly regularly. I really wish they would give a setting to wake the phone just by touching the button. We needed it before with iOS 10. I think it's nearly essential with the new home button.

It took two minutes to get used to it (people are going way over the top with it, it's almost feels the same as before) and yes I love it.

Agreed; far more responsive and love the feedback.

It is ok but try using it one handed now, just holding bottom of iPhone. It's almost impossible now since the actual button does not move.

I also find it annoying how much I feel it move now for just pressing a fake button. Turning that option off helped.

Do you have a 7 or 7 plus? I have one problem using the home button one handed with my 7.

Tried all there settings in a shop today, could quite easy live with either setting, but to get it to activate you have to actually press quite hard, so might as well just have a button. If it activated with a lighter touch it would make more sense. Hopefully version two on the 8 will be better.

I had no problems getting use to the new home button. I have it on 2. Reminds me of Macbook track pad.

I don't find it better or worse than the 6s home button, just different.

I have to give Apple credit, after the preorder debacle for IUP users they did their best to make things right and I was able to reserve a black 128 gb iPhone 7. Aside from the switch from a Plus to a regular model, which I think was the right decision, I'm most impressed with the new home button. It feels way more responsive and reactive, and with the Taptic setting on 1 it still feels likes real button (on 2 or 3 the feedback is too much).

I've seen a lot of people slagging on the new home button but I'll bet there are others out there like me who think it's a clear improvement over the old mechanical button. If you're feeling the same way, speak up here!

Yep. You're the only one. Even the people at Apple dont liek it. You're just that special and unique. Must be nice :)

It felt really bad and artificial, at first.

I realized it was because of how I was using it (really no antennagate pun there). I was depressing the "button" with the fact that it was really a haptic response and not actually clicking in my head. Once I just started using it like I use my other iPhone, there really isn't a "fakeness" to it.

much better than i expected after reading the initial hands on previews. only time it really stands out as not being as nice as the old button is when laying on a table and you don't feel as much of the click through your single finger vs. your hand holding it. holding the phone the click feels pretty good and its obvious now the button itself isn't long for the world... next year is all screen.

How's the ID now, Faster maybe?

I had a REALLY hard time for years, as it would forget. The last few months (like 5 maybe) it seems to remember, which is amazing (sadly).

I like the idea of this button, even though I haven't seen it.

Warming up to it. I have a long ways to go before I would say I love it. But not an issue or negative for me.

I think it is fine. If it paves the way for a smaller bezel and/or bigger screen next year, all the better.

I'm still waiting for my 7+ to ship. Currently using a 6. Ever since I had my iPod touch with iOS 2 I have thought that the home button should be solid state. I have had my home button go before (it was my iPhone 4), and I am thrilled they finally changed the design.
