I live in charlotte NC and i have maybe had one dropped call. Also when i travelled to NYC and boston i didn't experience any problems their either. But then again i'm not like some people trying to use my phone in a basement  or something :D

The complainers far outweigh those of us who are happy with their AT&T service.

With that said, I've owned each line of iPhone's, even though I sold my original 1G iPhone, went to Verizon, then came back to AT&T for the 3G. I have had a few dropped calls here and there, but nothing worth complaining about. I live just outside Philadelphia, and even when I'm in the city, the service isn't that bad. The only time data is atrocious is when I'm at a Phillies/Eagles game, but that is to be expected when you have 40,000-60,000 fans (most of which have cell phones). So needless to say, I'm happy with AT&T.

I'm in OC Ca and been having problems for the last half of the year with dropped calls and no 3g data/slow data speeds.

Iphone 1g never had any problems but since I got the 3gs its been crap.for the first half it was great. But lately its just been really fusterating.

Hopefully Iphone 4 will remedy this problem.I thought I was the only one not having problems but lately I've been an ATT hater.

I always hear about dropped calls, etc. but it seems like the complaints always come from people in San Francisco or NYC. I'm in the metro Detroit area and maybe it's just a coincidence, but I have basically no issues with my iPhone and yet my Verizon Blackberry I use for work drops calls on a pretty regular basis.

Ive never had issues, and the only place I have had any is in south western michigan, near my cottage, I only get a bar or two, but verizon is even worse.

Rhode Island

I live near the Providence area and have never had any issues or dropped calls. I always have full bars and 3g. I also visit my inlaws frequently in the middle of no where Redding CT and have full service there. I have not noticed any difference bewtween AT&T and Verizon (which I had for 7 years).

Not a fan of AT&T coverage. I've seen dropped calls in an Apple store even! Not a very good way to showcase a product! It's sad that such a fantastic piece of hardware is weighted down so badly by it's service provider in certain areas.

Interesting. I also wondered if I was the only one who had no problems. I moved from Sprint to AT&T to get the 3G when it came out. Sprint gave me nothing but problems. In almost two years, I have not had even one call drop that was not easily blamable on the other non-AT&T end of the call. Not one.

I'm also in the Dallas area so I guess we just have it good.

I've just come to the conclusion that "Your Mileage May Vary" doesn't apply anywhere better than when discussing phones and carriers.

Dropped calls are not so much an AT&T problem as they are an iPhone problem. I switched from Verizon Worthless to AT&T for the Motorola SLVR and was delighted at not experiencing the number of dropped calls I had with Verizon. Enter the iPhone and dropped calls return. I've owned two different versions and both have more dropped calls that I should have had. I can sit an iPhone beside any other make of phone on AT&T and the other phone will have a much stronger signal. I think the design regarding the antenna placement on the iPhone has been faulty; I think Apple has been aware of this problem and I think that's exactly why they drastically redesigned the antenna in the iPhone 4.

My service has been pretty good I'd say. I've had like 3-4 dropped calls(in my house only) on my 3GS and I used that Mark the Spot app and seen an improvement big time. Works for some but not for others I'd say it's worth a shot though.

Near Allentown, PA and I've had AT&T for almost 10 years and never an issue with coverage or dropped calls! Now customer service is a different story! ;)

No you're not the only one without any problems--I've never had any issues with ATT and have 3G service pretty much everywhere I go.

Central PA here and in 2 yrs not one issue...well other than the cussing match I got into with the local at&t store moron two days ago.:D

I'm in NYC and had almost perfect service up until a few months ago. Now I can't seem to make any phone calls in my office anymore and the data is really spotty. It's 100% fine in my apartment though (both in Manhattan) - I call people for hours at a time without any issues.

Even with not getting reception in my office it's still better than the quality of service I had with Sprint. heh.

I've been pretty happy with AT&T, other than the limited 3G areas. Reception is no worse than my previous carrier.

I have daily issues... will have full 3g and drop to low signal edge in all sort of areas in Illinois

I was that way for years (been an AT&T/Cingular/AT&T customer since 1993); the last 4 months or so have been a different story. At home (St. Louis), I suddenly started having dropped calls, signal strength fluctuating all over hell, endless problems. Everything was reported faithfully using the Mark the Spot app, and when I really got good & pissy about things, I'd call in to customer service. I was always told it was a "known issue" & that it would be resolved.

I've been down in central FL for the last month and signal strength seems to fluctuate quite a bit here, too. I've got 3 bars of Edge right now but had 3-4 bars of 3G for most of the day. I've been sitting in the same spot the entire time. I've given up trying to determine the rhyme or reason (or lack thereof) of the problem. FWIW, dropped calls are still a relative rarity, though. I think I've had maybe 3 since being here.

I've been with ATT for almost 2 years now. I have 0 complaints. The only time my service sucks is when I already expect it to, like when I'm going through a tunnel or going to a very remote town in the swamps.

Around home and pretty much everywhere else I have full bars 99% of the time. I've never had to deal with their CS so I can't speak to that. I have been with Sprint and T-mobile and ATT kicks both their asses where I am.

Been using iPhones from almost day one in 2007 and have no issues with coverage. I am in Louisville, KY.

I get spotty coverage when travelling in & out of Louisville on 64. My signal goes from four bars to nothing pretty much all the way to West Virginia on the interstate, which is a four hour drive.

I've been very happy with AT&T for years. I get stellar 3G coverage & speed. About the only thing I notice is the poor quality of the phone module Apple has used in the first 3 generations. Finally Apple got serious & improved the phone in the iPhone 4.

I know it's the iPhone, since I also carry an AT&T BlackBerry Bold and it's phone is exceptionally clear & never drops calls.

Yes, you are the only one

Ouch. I hate that! Whenever we go to Red Sox games/WVU games my text messages take forever to send/be received.
