For those who can't wait for Full of Win's post:
I can't prove it , but it is clear that Apple has at least 5 million ipads 1.5 in their warehouses, so they can make all the sheep fanboys stand in line for the next 5 weekends.
Typical for Apple they just care about dominating what you think and do.
Amazing that people still fall for the hype of this underpowered device without Retina display.
Apple has the ipad3 done already, but they want to catch the media attention and siphon off more of your hard earned money.
Pity..... pity .....that all of you can't think for yourselves and figure this out.
BTW: To be fair to Apple I bought 2 ipad 2's
Apple should address the world's hunger problems instead of grabbing peoples money with electronic garbage that doesn't work.
I'm very confused by this post ("*criticism*, *criticism*, *criticism* ... but btw I bought 2 of them"). That aside, I respectfully disagree with your opinion that Apple is somehow evil for delivering an iterative product to market ("iPad 1.5", they are withholding the iPad3, etc). Apple has a track record of delivering great updates when they can. The iPad 2 is a decently-updated version of the original iPad; it's up to original iPad users to decide if they really want/need the new version, and obviously a new release helps keep Apple competitive in attracting new customers. It would do them no good to release an "inferior" product (iPad2) when they have a better one "done already" (iPad3) ... unless the newer iteration simply isn't viable (i.e., prototyping is nearly complete but the component cost or something similar is too high/risky/unavailable to deliver en masse). Your criticisms aren't necessarily unreasonable (i.e., sure, the display
could be better), but it would be unreasonable to focus tablet criticism only at Apple when other table products -- such as the Xoom -- could also be considered lacking in some areas.
Please understand that I'm not trying to argue or start a fight, but I will use your post to respond to a very common sentiment throughout this thread, which is that Apple is purposely trying to create delays/hype/long-lines/etc.
Yes, they
clearly want to build hype. It's what they do. It's a known aspect of Apple, love it or hate it. Yes, they make a big deal of launch days; it's also what they do, love it or hate it. But would a publicly-traded company intentionally withhold inventory from a
very clear demand for the product? I have a
very difficult time believing this. It makes no business sense, and Apple is a business that has a bottom line and must report to a board that must satisfy stock holders, etc, etc, etc. Now, are they strategically managing their supply chain by delivering to larger markets, "preferred business partners", etc first? Maybe; I would accept that as a viable
business decision despite my own personal frustration at not being able to obtain an iPad 2 quickly.
That's my two cents, anyway
