Consistency from Amazon

Well, I guess we're starting to get some consistency from Amazon now.

My 1.83 MBP was ordered on Jan 22nd, and now has a ship date of 30 March. Annoying to say the least.

I spoke to Amazon this morning about my order, and when they'll actually be sent. I was told that the 1.83s will be available after 20 March. She offered to move my ship date up from 30 March to 20 March, and sent me a $10 gift certificate for my troubles.

Of course, none of this makes sense. If Amazon actually did get these in stock on the 20th, why wouldn't they ship them out immediately? They can't bill customers until the product ships, so why would they purposely sit on accounts receivable?

I'd seriously consider buying from another vendor at this point, but I don't believe anyone is shipping immediately -- everyone has a queue.

-FYI

I was refunded $40 (delivery charge) since my overnight delivery was botched. I think they are understanding they didnt handle this rollout very well.

Delivery charge I'll buy. I've had them do that for me before too. But not $200 off the product itself.

was it the 2.0 Ghz model? I think they haven't shipped a single 1.83 model out yet...

Sorry -- not possible. I have a 1.83 in transit to me now.

I ordered on 2/20. It shipped on Thursday.

Rest assured, however, if they accidentally sent me a 2.0....I won't tell if you don't!

Hey. Would you be willing to PM (private message) your order number? Maybe I can get the Amazon customer rep to expedite my shipping date.

Arrrrg, MacMall is Shipping....

Since MacMall has started shipping in quantity, Amazon has to be getting a shipment in soon. I would think that Amazon has to be as high up in the food chain as MacMall (if not higher).

Yeah they just sent an advertising email saying they are shipping and my rep said every order will be fulfilled this week.

Even thought they said they were working on fixing it last Friday, my ship date still shows March 6, 2007. Now that I've convinced myself the 2.0 is the way to go I can bring myself to cancel it and go to my local Apple store to pick up a 1.83.

I ordered on Feb. 28 (macbook pro 2.0) and have a ship date of May 1. I can't wait that long. grrr. It's soooooo tempting to cancel and order from the apple store.

Hurry up guys..

SAW-EET! Thanks, dude.

Called about 6:15PST and they had 2 left. Place my order over the phone, selected overnight shipping for $29, and I'm going to have it tomorrow. Cancelled my 1/19 Amazon order. I can't believe I'm going to have it tomorrow after staring at Amazon's 3/30 delivery date for the last 6 weeks!

Thanks again!
Tony

Shipping Update

For those waiting on Amazon, they have updated the shipping date on new orders for the 2.0 model to March 15-22. Mine still shows March 31st so I called and spoke to a CSR who couldn't update my shipping estimate to an earlier date.

I will probably regret it but I don't think I am going to re-order it, and hope I still get mine shipped earlier. The CSR also quoted me the same release date that many others have mentioned of March 20th.

what is so magical about Mar/20th?

I really don't understand Amazon at all. If indeed they can't ship till mar/20th, why tell customers that est ship date is between Mar 15 to 22nd? They should be honest and say that It won't ship till 20th on their website. Or is the Mar/20th ship date apply only to the previous orders?? Which in that case, makes absolutesly no sense!

Amazon is messed up

Venting time...
This morning I did a click trough on the MacBook pro and got a date estimate of March 16-23. Head proceeded to explode. Called amazon, their computer system was "undergoing maintenance", so the CSR told me to call back in 2 hours. Not a good idea to let me stew for two hours. Called back this afternoon. They told me that the current estimated ship dates on the web are wrong. I just don't understand how they can go from March 2007 to March 16-23 and not even get close to the correct dates. She also told me that the date of March 20 is the magic date that they will be getting supply from apple. I think she could tell that I was very unhappy. So far I've decided to keep the order with amazon, but if they screw this up again, I doubt I'll ever order anything other then a paperback novel from amazon.

Here's what my experience has been so far. I ordered a 2.0GHz model from Amazon on Jan 18th and got a March 23rd ship date. I've talked to a CSR twice. The first time is when I heard people started receiving their MacBook to see what the status on my shipment. The CSR gave me no new info, but did bump my shipment from super save to 2-day shipment at no extra charge. The second time I called, two days ago, is when I placed another order for the same model and it gave me a next day ship date. I asked the CSR what was up and she said the second order was wrong and I would receive an e-mail that the ship date would be delayed. She did say I was number 4 on the list though. Today I noticed my available credit on my credit card go down by the amount of my order, so I think my MacBook should ship real soon now.

I ordered the 1.83 MBP and also received a bump in shipping from super saver to 2nd day after calling a few times to ask about the shipping date.

Now, why can Amazon (in some cases) ship these things faster than Apple?

Welcome to Amazon's super secret shipping center located under your home, how may we help you?
