Looks like the problem has been fixed. Ship date on 2.0 model is now May 8, 2006.
Checked again and its back to 2007!

Annoyed...

Well it's been 24 hours since Amazon charged my car and still ITEM NOT SHIPPED... so I'm guessing it was an error... Amazon sucks... this thread is complete proof that they have had nothing but issues the entire process. What's funny is they keep referring to the MacBook pro as software... I think that's where the release date issue comes into play cause I've seen and received "We Can't Sell Then Before the April 13 'release date'" and "Rest assured we have many copies on order and your copy will ship as soon as possible" and "We don't have any copies of your item in stock yet".... comon amazon, get your sh%^&^& together...

Big News - Macbook Pros In Stock In Apple Stores!

I finally said f#$%^ amazon, if they don't want to sell me a Macbook Pro then I'll go to the apple store and use my education discount. I called this morning and they had BOTH the 2.0's and the 1.83's in stock. Picked myself up a 1.83 and it's BEAUTIFUL. You wouldn't think 1/10th of an inch slimmer is a big deal but it's a HUGE difference... amazing...

Anyhow, I took myself out of the Amazon que... I figured if I ordered one Jan 12 I should have it by now... but whatever... lol... I got mine for $1799 at the apple store, which with tax and all is about $100 more than the amazon price with rebate, but hey, what can I say, technology whore\instant gratification, I'm happy.

The 2.0 still has the 2007 shipping date! Do any other retailers other than the Apple Store have them yet?

Just got off the phone with someone from Amazon.com. The March 2007 ship date for the MacBook Pro 2.0ghz is based on the information Amazon.com currently has. The rep told me that there are 507 "pre-orders" for the MBP2.0 and the ones in the front of the queue have a 2006 ship date. He said the next batch of MBP2.0s will ship out March 20, and after that they aren't scheduled to receive any more from Apple until 2007, which explains the ship date for everyong near the end of the queue.

The 2007 date doesn't mean anything though. You're going to get them in 2006, obviously. :)

507 seems a small number to me for someone the size of Amazon...wish we could have any news on the 1.83 Ghz machines, I ordered one on Jan.19 and absolutely no news of them yet...has anyone that has ordered at amazon had his/hers shipped yet?

I think the March 5 2007 date is extremely misleading. I thought this was next week so I canceled my order with Apple - that's what I get for ordering at 4 in the morning. They should have used an arbitrary number in the future. So I guess I'm back at the end of every line. I'm obviously not waiting until 2007 to get a MBP or April of this year even.

I too canceled my Amazon order and then reordered, thinking I'd get my MBP by March 6th 2006. But looks like I'll have to wait util 2007...

When I spoke to the Amazon CSR yesterday to voice my complaint, she said there were about 200 people in line of a MBP, not 500. She also said that there was nothing she could do, claiming that Amazon is not even allowed to ship out any MPB's until at least March 20th; meanwhile, plenty of people have already received their MPB from Amazon (according to some of the posts I've read). Not sure what in the hell to think. It's extremely confusing.

I just received another email from Amazon. They said that there is an error that is causing the 2007 shipping date to appear and they are working to fix it now. She said that they should begin shipping March 20th. Of course that's the same date I received from Apple originally.

They must be getting a few in at a time, but are expecting a large shipment on the 20th. That would explain the few that have trickled out. But, I don't understand why I was given a date in May yesterday.

I too am cotinually amazed bt Amazon's response to all the calls they are receiving. I have received my macBook Pro 2.0 from them. I got it 2/28/06 so I know they have shipped some

I would be satisfied with this date (I ordered on Jan 29th), I guess I just need to stop reading these posts for a while. Some times, ignorance is bliss. Unfortunately, reality is that I will continue to check Amazon's site each day to see if I can catch an earlier shipdate and also check this thread each day to see if anyone else gets new information.

Seems like everyone gets a different answer from Amazon. That is definitely not the answer I was given. I was even encouraged to cancel my order and purchase from an Apple store because they wouldn't have any available for a while (after the initial lot is sent out on the 20th).

Same here teerexx52. I ordered on Feb 25 and received my system on March 1. I am not certain how Amazon can continue to say they are not shipping until March 20th when multiple people have received systems. It also doesnt make sense that some were able to order last weekend and receive a system, while others have been waiting since Jan  ?

I am new to the Mac world and I understand this was a major announcement, but is this the trend (all around - Apple store, Amazon, etc.) for Mac mobile rollouts? I say mobile only because the new Mac mini is already available for delivery.

It is certainly confusing and very unfair to those who ordered early!

My wife got hers by signing up at our local Apple Store. They hold it for you until the end of the day. They seem to be getting some every few days, They held one for a guy who came down from Canada to get it.

Rebate

Well, hopefully they get a large shipment on Mar 20 and can get the MacBook's out the door. When I ordered my MacBook, I assumed that the $150 rebate on a new, in demand, item was for the inconvenience caused by Apple not telling Amazon exactly when shipments would be made to Amazon. I'm fine with $150 off to get my machine a month late. However, what mildly irritates me is that they shipped Macbook's to new orders this weekend and don't even know that they shipped them. I don't mind standing in line, as long as the line is fair.

Just my thoughts...

Someone said in this thread that they got a 5% discount because of this mess. I ordered the 1.83 and I don't know of anyone who has received the 1.83 yet so I can't try to get the same discount but you should be able to if you ordered the 2.0.

Mine was supposed to arrive today, but was delayed due to weather.

The kick in the pants of it is that I was Amazon Prime, so I should have gotten two-day shipping. They shipped it ground (since it was in Sparks, NV), which should be two-day delivery...but due to the snow, the truck got held up and my baby is a couple hours away for the WHOLE WEEKEND!!!!!

This is a sad, sad day. I even moved all my files around on my external hard drive last night, getting ready for a joyous weekend of loading and tweaking my MBP til my little heart was content. Grrrr!!!!

I have to say that I am pretty suspicious of this claim. I've known Amazon to work hard for customer service, but just giving a customer $200 or more off seems EXTREMELY unlikely. The margins in these things is just not that high.

-FYI

I was refunded $40 (delivery charge) since my overnight delivery was botched. I think they are understanding they didnt handle this rollout very well.

Ordered my MBP 1/14/06 from Amazon. Received it 3/1/06. Love the new green LEDs.

BB
was it the 2.0 Ghz model? I think they haven't shipped a single 1.83 model out yet...
