I'm definitely not a pro user with strict requirements, but that dual 2 GHz seems to be at a fairly decent price point for what you get. No?

I think it's a pretty sweet price point, especially when my school is paying for it! :D

That always helps! Are you getting a monitor with that as well? Possibly one of the $799 20" Apple displays?

That's one of my debating points... I only got the $$ for the 2.0 DP suped up a bit, (1GB Ram, 250 HD, 256 Video card, Final Cut) and an off brand 17" flat screen monitor... however, perhaps with the price cut and some "school district pricing deals" i might be able to figure something out for the 20"... But I'd rather have the upped tower than the display... (plus it gives me something to request next year :) )

Good thinking. You're not buying your RAM from Apple though, I hope? Apple charges a huge premium for their RAM, and it's always advisable to buy third party to save you some extra $$$ which you can put toward something else.

There are lots of other nice monitors out there comparable to Apple's so definitely don't feel obligated to buy an Apple display. ;)

If at all possible I'd do 3rd party... But one of the bad things about buying through the school district is the non flexibilty with $$... They like to have one purchase order with one grand total! Two P.O.'s might make their heads explode! :D

Ah well, guess you'll have to weigh your options then and see what will save you more money. In the end though you'll have a nice new PowerMac so it'll all be good!
