Apple will need a new "ATV 4K 2" to keep-up now.
No they won't!
Amazon stuff is pure cr*p!
The Apple TV has top quality components - everything in it is quality.
This Amazon rubbish doesn't even have a dedicated 110-240V power supply. AS usual, the cheapest of the cheap is fitted in these Amazon throw aways!
It's like a Ferrari owner being jealous of the guy in the siege Ford Focus because it may have one or two more highly marketed 'mainstream' features!

Seriously, these Amazon pieces of mass produced rubbish are no match for the quality in Apple products. Anyone who doesn't realise that, really does not deserve to own an Apple product. An Apple product is of a pro grade that happens to be sold to everyone.

It amazes me how the masses will buy anything that's fed to them.

I've yet to be impressed and pleased with any Amazon branded hardware..

Maybe one of these will stick, who knows.

I really just wish this competition would get the ATV prices down and get some 3rd party Siri remote creation rolling.

I hope this encourages Apple to take a long hard look at their AppleTV lineup; I would love to see the existing model drop in price to $99 or $129 and an upgraded model with hands-free Siri and a small built-in speaker for $149/$199.

Personally, I would rather spend the $399 and get the Sonos Beam over the Fire TV Cube.

Question. I own a HomePod and was hoping that you would be able to set alarms with specific Apple Music songs, something Alexa does with Prime Music. Would this be able to set specific song alarms like the Echo does, but wakeup the TV/Soundbar it would be connected to to play the alarm?

This box needs to be a soundbar, like recently announced Sonos Beams. Also, I think Echo design language is getting rather dated. Looks very plasticky.

I’d like to know if it has the capability to change channels through Alexa voice commands within TV streaming apps; DIRECTV NOW, YouTube TV, Hulu TV, etc.
My firetv with Alexa voice remote can with directtv now. I was intent on buying an apple tv til I found out my dolby Atmos system wasn't supported.

It always amuses me how Amazon suddenly drops these interesting neat products with no fan fare or nothing. Just one day it shows up ready to buy.

Apple on the other hand is always about pomp & circus with press previews, pre orders, delays, back orders and in some cases, no product actually showing up for a year.

Nothing about the subject of the thread itself, but that's a pretty interesting MacBook Pro they have in one of the pictures. Also, I've been looking around for a similar box, thanks for the link!

Whoa! Thanks for catching that "all-touch-screen MacBook Pro" in the HDMI Switchbox images. I was able to find the original image. It's not some prototype Mac, it's just an idea a guy mocked up when the touch bar came out. https://www.behance.net/gallery/51014667/MacBook-Pro-2018

On top of that, Amazon’s prime shipping has been really slow, lately.
I've been noticing a lot more items that are Prime but say "Ships in 2-3 days" or similar. Then when it actually does ship, I see that it came from one of the nearest distribution centers in my region, so no real reason it took that long.

Amazon Prime Video is mostly geared toward kid’s entertainment. I know people who have little ones that love it. But, for me, there’s rarely anything that I’m interested in. On top of that, Amazon’s prime shipping has been really slow, lately. I’ve been shopping on Amazon a lot less. So far, I have no interest in the Alexa ecosystem. Which is why the Apple TV is still the winner. Even though it needs a complete overhaul. The Remote app sucks. Why can’t I see my music and playlists, like in the old iTunes remote app. But, I digress...no thanks, Amazon.
Plus, it would just be confusing. I would call Alexa, Siri...and vice versa. Ugh! o_O:confused:

I use Amazon Prime Video a lot and it has a very broad range of films and tv shows. It is most definitely not geared towards kids entertainment.
[doublepost=1528392036][/doublepost]No sign of this on the Amazon UK website, so it looks like it’s US only for now sadly.

Like Apple Products at a premium price point. Goes both ways. I have both Apple and Amazon products. Good results with both. What best fits my needs the product I purchase.

I'll be honest - if Amazon keeps sending me stuff with OnTrac, I'll be done w/ Prime when the time comes in Jan.

They are incredibly horrible. Yesterday I had to go pick something up from them, again, because they didn't even bother to try to deliver on the day they were supposed to.

What sort of delivery service doesn't do the "delivery" part?

Am I the only person who doesn't really like the Fire TV interface? I use an AppleTv on my main tv and bought a firestick for my bedroom tv, and it is fine but I don't really like the interface.

For the person asking why Amazon stuff sells and that the masses will buy it, the price points are a lot cheaper and many people have Amazon Prime so there is already some content you can automatically get when you get a Fire TV. I'm not saying the equipment is better, but a $90 device that even works for a few years is easy to replace without debating with a newer version in 2 years.

FWIW, the Echos have a much bigger penetration into the market than any HomePod device. I own neither, but haven't even seen an HomePod while I see Echo devices everywhere.

My brother bought two Fire TVs, one for the living room and one for my parents’ bedroom. My family doesn’t really care about the user experience much, as long as it is cheap and has youtube. It works for them.

I, on the other hand, do not like the Fire TV and its interface. I prefer my Apple TV. The Fire TV remote is very plasticky and creaky, like when someone is scratching a chalkboard and you cringed upon hearing the sound. I’m fine with plastic, but that remote does not feel solid compared to plastic remotes designed by other companies. The remote for the Apple TV feels a little tricky at times, but overall, it’s a better experience.

Yep, this is exactly what I would want from an Apple TV. A little Siri box. But it’s never happening.

Regardless, I bet we’re going to see deeper Siri integration with Apple TV next year after Apple gets bombarded that there’s still that little detail missing. “Hey Siri play [show] on living room TV” needs to happen!
