No they won't!
Amazon stuff is pure cr*p!
The Apple TV has top quality components - everything in it is quality.
This Amazon rubbish doesn't even have a dedicated 110-240V power supply. AS usual, the cheapest of the cheap is fitted in these Amazon throw aways!
It's like a Ferrari owner being jealous of the guy in the siege Ford Focus because it may have one or two more highly marketed 'mainstream' features!

Seriously, these Amazon pieces of mass produced rubbish are no match for the quality in Apple products. Anyone who doesn't realise that, really does not deserve to own an Apple product. An Apple product is of a pro grade that happens to be sold to everyone.

It amazes me how the masses will buy anything that's fed to them.

Like Apple high priced Products. IOS11 and especially we like updating our Apple software every other week.
I'll be honest - if Amazon keeps sending me stuff with OnTrac, I'll be done w/ Prime when the time comes in Jan.

They are incredibly horrible. Yesterday I had to go pick something up from them, again, because they didn't even bother to try to deliver on the day they were supposed to.

What sort of delivery service doesn't do the "delivery" part?
OnTrac far worse then USPS in my area. I called Amazon customer service, said I would appreciate they limit my OnTrac shipments by using other options. So far so good, no OnTrac deliveries this year. Fingers crossed!:D

Ugh...This is the type of post that makes people label us Apple users as "Sheeple".

I have a 4K Apple TV and this new Amazon Fire Cube is VERY interesting to me. I do already have my Echo and my Harmony Hub linked but this is an all in one solution that sounds like it might work even better! I also have the Nvidia SHIELD because until recently it was the only device that could stream HDR and Atmos audio.

Agree with you on that guy's post!

I also have Echos and a Harmony Hub. I tried a Firestick but didn't care for the user interface. It threw you into the Amazon content immediately and you had to navigate out of that to get to other channels. I ended up switching to a Roku and quite happy with it. I used to have an Apple TV, but at the time they didn't support Amazon content so Roku checked all the boxes. The Roku has so many channels also.

I have a few Roku devices and bought a TCL TV with Roku built in. It's still my streaming box of choice actually. I'm actually waiting for those tvOS features to come out before I use my AppleTV 4K again. :p

Why? Apple is an AV1 supporter and has joined the AV1 alliance.

And their web site is still not using Apple's logo, months after the "announcement" by Cnet. I believe the news was merely to tell HEVC patents holder to act and do something.

AV1, as it stands, is still not bit stream frozen ( The news was rushed for NAB Show, or if you prefer, they lied ), and disparate its achievement in in PSNR and VMAF, subjective testing shows it barely edge out HEVC. and you are trading those with 1000x the encoding time.

Needless to say HEVC is here and it is better. Amazon hasn't show much interest in AV1 or forcing AV1 on their Amazon Prime. Only Netflix and Google 's Youtube are forcing this.

There’s uncovered stairs to my front door (that is covered). Ontrac will get out, walk all the way from the road to the stairs, and leave the package halfway up the uncovered stairs on a pouring day two steps away from being covered. I’ve had so many packages ruined by them.

On the topic:

I do like the idea that Amazon presented, I’m not interested in a stand alone speaker or such but if Apple baked in Siri to an ATV I might bite.

Amazon Prime Video is mostly geared toward kid’s entertainment. I know people who have little ones that love it. But, for me, there’s rarely anything that I’m interested in. On top of that, Amazon’s prime shipping has been really slow, lately. I’ve been shopping on Amazon a lot less. So far, I have no interest in the Alexa ecosystem. Which is why the Apple TV is still the winner. Even though it needs a complete overhaul. The Remote app sucks. Why can’t I see my music and playlists, like in the old iTunes remote app. But, I digress...no thanks, Amazon.
Plus, it would just be confusing. I would call Alexa, Siri...and vice versa. Ugh! o_O:confused:

How about discounts at Whole Foods? That’s another plus for me with Amazon Prime. The shipping is still pretty reliable, though I rarely need two day shipping, and the items that offer it seem to have diminished. That said, it’s a god send during the holidays which easily pays for itself for the whole year, perks notwithstanding.

I like a lot of programming on Amazon right now. It’s how I get a lot of cable programming, as I don’t have cable and have cut the cord, though I mostly watch it on my Apple TV 4K.

As far as Alexa, I thought I’d never be interested, but she blows Siri out of the water. My brother gave my mom one for Christmas, and she uses it far more often and far more reliably than Siri on her iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It’s sad really that Apple screwed the pooch so badly with Siri. I wouldn’t be opposed to having an Alexa device for the purposes of voice commands on whatever devices she can control. I must admit Siri is so unreliable that I’ve pretty much stopped using her anyway. I might as well turn off hey Siri on the devices it’s enabled — which of course is not the Apple TV, the one device where hands free voice commands would come in handy.

You may have made a good point...for those who have a Whole Foods.

I have 5 echos in my house but I have one lone google home mini in my living room. My tv has chromecast built in, so it is much more beneficial to have google assistant there. Alexa does have some rudimentary controls, but google is much better experience

Is there content available yet?

Netflix, iTunes also has movies in Dolby vision. It may not be a whole lot but why put out something that doesn’t have the capability of stuff that’s already on the market?
