I had the free trial of Prime. Very few of the products I ordered were delivered when promised. Most of the time I got a notice that the shipment was delayed. So I never signed up for the payed version. IMO, since their entire business model is built around shipping, I shouldn’t have to pay extra to ensure that they do their job.
I live in a rural area, so that sometimes happens to us as well with delays or not as promised ‘same day’ delivery. If you’re more in an urban setting, I think there’s less likely of shipment delays.

Something else I noticed Amazon really doesn’t do much anymore of, is when you did have potential shipping delays that extended well beyond the promised date, they used a issue like a courtesy credit of like ~$10-$20, now it’s just an apologetic email without the credit.

I as well signed up originally for the "free 2 day shipping". In the beginning it was exactly that, things would get delivered in 2 days.. These past two years more than half of my orders were delayed or lost altogether. I kept it when the price went from $99 to $119, because I was using prime video.. Now everything I want to watch isn't included and I'd have to pay even more.

Usually when I order its over $25, so free shipping anyway. I just canceled my membership as there doesn't really seem to be a point (for me) to keep paying more.

Like many of the big the big tech companies, deep down Amazon is just evil. Greed layered upon greed, by either Bezos or his henchmen or the stockholders. Plus it has awful business practices, noticing great products, then making its own at discounted prices to shut down little traders. I try to use it as little as possible – and I always steal the 30-day free trial and binge watch Bezos' TV. Ha.

You guys act as if you’ve never heard of inflation before. This is still a good price for all the services included. I would LOVE to see the ones complaining start a business while keep that same energy of never needing to increase prices lmao. Get real

It’s still a good deal for me. $12/month for video streaming+ music + the discount at Whole Foods. Oh, and I guess they do free delivery of online purchases still?

Not surprising. Price of everything is going up.

Prime members order 4-6x more than non-members, so it's certainly in Amazon's favor to offer such.

While some will cancel, folks at Amazon who do price modeling know they'll lose X amount of subscribers but more than make up for it with the price increase. All large companies do the math before rolling out increases.

You can expect to see Netflix and many other services increase in price this year too.

We watch a lot of stuff on Prime Video, I usually find a kindle book I like with the monthly Prime First Reads, and we use the shipping quite a lot for small orders since it saves a bunch of time vs schlepping around town looking for this and that.

So while I'd rather not see a $1.67/mo price increase, it's not a big enough deal for me to make a change at this time.

As a Prime customer, I really only ever signed up with them for the ‘free two day delivery’, and in some cases one day delivery. But it’s reaching a point, where I don’t necessarily need things ‘next day’ anymore, and to keep justifying these price hikes, is not really attractive to me, when I really don’t use the likes of the movie service or the other services for that matter.

If you’re somebody that frequently orders from Amazon and you really need/want the two day delivery and that would exceed the value of your membership costs, then I could see this being non-issue for some customers.

As inflation continues to rise in other areas in our economy, I suspect that will force consumers to second-guess their renewal. But again, it really depends how much they actually utilize all the services combined.
Exactly. $139 for one/two day shipping isn’t worth it especially if you don’t use all the services that come with it.

They’d probably lose money, but to be more consumer friendly they should split the services into individual products, like Apple One tier subscriptions does.

It is insteresting to know where Amazon get's it's profits from because everytime the UK tax regulator goes after Amazon for them to pay the correct amount of tax Amazon always responds with 'we made no profit this year'.
