Quite the opposite in my experience, but to each their own

A warehouse job never really has been a cushy one...whats changed?
I value myself more than them.
Why Facebook up there though
Let's see. Amazon provides it customers with pricing that usually is as good or better than its competitors, combining this with excellent service and innovative solutions. It's main fault is that Amazon could treat its employees better, but mainstream media and its (rich) shareholders apply little pressure to Bezos to work on that aspect of his business. Apple, on the other hand, has deviated from the very principles that Steve Jobs leveraged to dramatically increase market share and profitability: vision and innovation combined with services and products that gave its customer the best user experience possible for a modest premium. Today, Apple arrogantly gouges its customers, relying on insane profit margins and planned obsolescence to increase shareholder returns and maintain profitability, and has destroyed decades of goodwill that Jobs cultivated over his storied career. Once, Apple dared to fly a pirate flag over its campus, proud that it lead the personal computer revolution. Today, Apple has become yet another behemoth corporation espousing the conservative but greedy mindset that goes along with that, an instance of 1984 it once railed against. It comes as no surprise to me that Amazon is the stronger brand today, even though Apple benefits from a huge number of customers that are generally satisfied. Yet, these same customers just don't get it, don't demand excellence from Tim Apple. I, on the other hand, do. Why? Because I drank the Kool-Aid and for decades relished passion for (nearly) everything Apple. So, if I sound bitter, know it's because I know better. I know Apple can perform much better than it does today but chooses not to. I demand excellence from Apple. That's what differentiates it from the marketplace or, rather, once did. But there is hope. Cook will step down one day and perhaps the new regime will look back at what made Apple great, then return to its roots. I will be there cheering it on should that happen. Or sadly lamenting for what were the greatest moments in the technological revolution.
Yup, worker peeing in bottles, low wages and worth the read is this book.Big shout out to all the Amazon employees working in terrible conditions without whom none of this would be possible
I want to see how Amazon does if VISA were to shut down!

Yeah think all Boxing Day games will be on thereOh I didn’t know that. I will tell my husband about the matches he will be happy lol
This. Amazon have got to the top by exploiting their workers at the bottom. Their service is great but what most customers don't realise is that behind the scenes they treat their workers and delivery drivers like something at the bottom of their shoe.
To them their workers and drivers are just numbers and are seen as disposable 'assets'. Poor working conditions at low-rate pay with little job-security all the while the customers innocently get their package the next day and Amazon puts a facade as to how great a company they are.
Agree completely. I've never had a problem with Amazon. In the past ten years, I've had to contact Customer Service twice (a bit hard to find but that's understandable) but when I did, the phone was answered quickly, and problem solved with that one phone call, and always in my favor.Hmmm, I know it’s anecdotal, but I’ve never had an issue with Amazons customer service. In fact, quite the opposite. Anytime I’ve had an issue they have been quick to resolve. YMMV.
You know Amazon have a fulfilment centre in every major European country, right? Not to mention they have a European headquarters in Luxembourg.

I think that Apple may experience a fall from grace as well. Maybe their pivot to services will go well.
As far as the Mac Pro recreating the base, that's a bit of a stretch given the steep price. Yes, it's a lot of computer for the money, other than the base model. But why do you think professional grade hardware would translate to more base. Apple has transitioned to a consumer electronics company and is focusing on trying to build services. The Mac Pro is none of that.
You don't know how your cell service is going to be until you buy. People buy AT&T just cause they trust it. Otherwise, you buy something cheaper and risk having bad service, like store brand vs name brand.I don't get why AT&T is #10 on this list.
For me Amazon is the lowest of the low for online sales. They can do a ton of volume but the quality sucks, customer service is a nightmare and all the Amazon branded products are cheap junk.
That means that the warehouse jobs shouldn't exist if the solution is to retrain to change careers. I am sure Amazon and other sectors will be ok by not having seasonal workers.Workers can leave any time they want. McDonald's by me is always looking for new crew members.
Option 2 is to get additional education and skills needed for higher paying jobs. That is the route many take to escape entry level jobs.

That is such a simplistic outlook on labor and workers retraining. In the not too distant future, a radiologist's job will be in danger because a computer can read the images better than the radiologist's eye. But yeah, the radiologist can restrain to become a quantum physicist because he can build next generation of computing. Not at all. It means that workers have choices. If they want to work low skilled jobs, they should not expect the same pay as someone that works a high skilled job. And if they want the higher pay, they need to add skills. It is all about choices you make.
