Quite the opposite in my experience, but to each their own

A warehouse job never really has been a cushy one...whats changed?

Whats changed? This sense of entitlement, and sheer laziness. The term "work ethic" doesn't exist, it's "victim," now. This generation is whining cause they can't be bothered to put in an actual 40 hours. It interupts their video gaming, and you know, how deeply that effects their intentional massacre of any interpersonal skills. Wut? u hrd me:). lol.

I value myself more than them.

Thank you...

Why Facebook up there though

Because you're all sheep and you drank their cool-aid silly. There is more $$$ in data mining your data, but keep using them cause everyone else does. (Facebook: "We'll be your Jim Jones baby:), don't you worry 'bout a thang..." oops we forgot to encrypt millions of users personal info, and wow! Look who has it now! How did that happen? lol

Let's see. Amazon provides it customers with pricing that usually is as good or better than its competitors, combining this with excellent service and innovative solutions. It's main fault is that Amazon could treat its employees better, but mainstream media and its (rich) shareholders apply little pressure to Bezos to work on that aspect of his business. Apple, on the other hand, has deviated from the very principles that Steve Jobs leveraged to dramatically increase market share and profitability: vision and innovation combined with services and products that gave its customer the best user experience possible for a modest premium. Today, Apple arrogantly gouges its customers, relying on insane profit margins and planned obsolescence to increase shareholder returns and maintain profitability, and has destroyed decades of goodwill that Jobs cultivated over his storied career. Once, Apple dared to fly a pirate flag over its campus, proud that it lead the personal computer revolution. Today, Apple has become yet another behemoth corporation espousing the conservative but greedy mindset that goes along with that, an instance of 1984 it once railed against. It comes as no surprise to me that Amazon is the stronger brand today, even though Apple benefits from a huge number of customers that are generally satisfied. Yet, these same customers just don't get it, don't demand excellence from Tim Apple. I, on the other hand, do. Why? Because I drank the Kool-Aid and for decades relished passion for (nearly) everything Apple. So, if I sound bitter, know it's because I know better. I know Apple can perform much better than it does today but chooses not to. I demand excellence from Apple. That's what differentiates it from the marketplace or, rather, once did. But there is hope. Cook will step down one day and perhaps the new regime will look back at what made Apple great, then return to its roots. I will be there cheering it on should that happen. Or sadly lamenting for what were the greatest moments in the technological revolution.

Standing ovation...I swear those are my exact words and experience, until they blacklisted my 9,1 iMac cause it couldn't run Mojave. So I decided Apple was just moving forward in tech, and I happily bought a new iMac, but it was almost $3,000 for the same functionality my 9,1 had. Then Imagine My Surprise....when my new iMac didn't come with Mojave on it. Ya I'm one satisfied Apple zealot...

This. Amazon have got to the top by exploiting their workers at the bottom. Their service is great but what most customers don't realise is that behind the scenes they treat their workers and delivery drivers like something at the bottom of their shoe.

To them their workers and drivers are just numbers and are seen as disposable 'assets'. Poor working conditions at low-rate pay with little job-security all the while the customers innocently get their package the next day and Amazon puts a facade as to how great a company they are.

Knowing this, i quit buying from Amazon since a couple of years ago.
And deleted my credit cards details from the account.
I am not a compulsive buyer anymore and now prefer going in "real" stores, even if prices, sometimes, might
be higher than on Amazon.

Hmmm, I know it’s anecdotal, but I’ve never had an issue with Amazons customer service. In fact, quite the opposite. Anytime I’ve had an issue they have been quick to resolve. YMMV.
Agree completely. I've never had a problem with Amazon. In the past ten years, I've had to contact Customer Service twice (a bit hard to find but that's understandable) but when I did, the phone was answered quickly, and problem solved with that one phone call, and always in my favor.

You know Amazon have a fulfilment centre in every major European country, right? Not to mention they have a European headquarters in Luxembourg.

Still not known in many places. Like the Netherlands hardly anyone knows or uses it since we have local suppliers who do the same but better.

Sadly I heard they are working to come to the Netherlands which if they can make it work would be a big hit for the local economy... This kind of companies tend to destroy lots of jobs for local suppliers which is bad for everyone. Especially cause they tend to do their best at avoiding taxes like Apple.

The same for me. And the 30 day return (60 during Christmas holiday period) is amazing. Usually when I return something my credit card is credited within a few hours of dropping of the item at UPS, days before Amazon receives it to inspect.

I think that Apple may experience a fall from grace as well. Maybe their pivot to services will go well.

As far as the Mac Pro recreating the base, that's a bit of a stretch given the steep price. Yes, it's a lot of computer for the money, other than the base model. But why do you think professional grade hardware would translate to more base. Apple has transitioned to a consumer electronics company and is focusing on trying to build services. The Mac Pro is none of that.

Because back in the day when Apple almost failed as a company I recommended Apple to co-workers, friends, and family because of the great tech they provided to Pros like myself.

For the last 5 years I have not made one Apple recommendation, and have even guided co-workers, friends, and family away from Apple. Why, because all they have been making are Teen Toys. If this is a change in strategy back to the old days of supporting both "easy to use" and "technologically advanced" users, then I'll change my tone, provided that their quality goes back up. While I don't influence a lot of people, the more Pros that are happy with Apple the better the more recommendations from people in the know.

So it is not the Pro user base, it is the Pro user base influence.

Makes sense, people default to buying from them now, especially Prime deals.

I don't get why AT&T is #10 on this list.
You don't know how your cell service is going to be until you buy. People buy AT&T just cause they trust it. Otherwise, you buy something cheaper and risk having bad service, like store brand vs name brand.

For me Amazon is the lowest of the low for online sales. They can do a ton of volume but the quality sucks, customer service is a nightmare and all the Amazon branded products are cheap junk.

If you can criticize something of Amazon is how they treat their workers, but not their customers. Their customer service is top notch as many have said here, and my experience with Amazon has been so.
Considering you mention the Amazon branded products", I highly doubt you've bought and tested "them all" as you say, and if they were junk you could have returned them anyway getting your money back, hence making it a good customer service thus contradicting yourself.

Workers can leave any time they want. McDonald's by me is always looking for new crew members.

Option 2 is to get additional education and skills needed for higher paying jobs. That is the route many take to escape entry level jobs.
That means that the warehouse jobs shouldn't exist if the solution is to retrain to change careers. I am sure Amazon and other sectors will be ok by not having seasonal workers.

Not at all. It means that workers have choices. If they want to work low skilled jobs, they should not expect the same pay as someone that works a high skilled job. And if they want the higher pay, they need to add skills. It is all about choices you make.

That is such a simplistic outlook on labor and workers retraining. In the not too distant future, a radiologist's job will be in danger because a computer can read the images better than the radiologist's eye. But yeah, the radiologist can restrain to become a quantum physicist because he can build next generation of computing.

If you are comfortable sharing your line of work, I can fairly easily concoct a situation where you have to retrain to something outlandish. Let's try that experiment.

Amazon is killing it with Fire TV, Fire tablet and to an extent Echo line of products. Many including myself have dropped Chromecast and Apple TV in favor of Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire tablet in place of iPad but will likely stick with Google Assistant smarts so that means Google Nest Hub Max, Lenovo Smart Clock, etc.
