Jeff Bezos couldn’t even protect his phone from Saudi hackers yet millions of fools would trust him with the data collected by Alexa devices.
Well, Apple trusts him with your iCloud data so... hundreds of millions of fools amirite. :p:D
To be clear, that's not a criticism of Apple. I'm making fun of your corollary between Bezos' phone and Alexa data.

Why does not a single company make them waterproof and only a very few include internal storage? ESPECIALLY if they're aimed for fitness. These are just another of the same.

I'm gonna miss Bragi.

What year is this? 2013? Internal storage within the headphones is something only a small percentage of people would use when there is Spotify and Apple Music to stream from. It just isn't worth the cost to build in. People think nothing of carrying their phone while working out (or wearing a watch capable of streaming or that has internal music storage).

As far as waterproof - the AirPods are pretty good in my experience. I run very long distances in them often and shorter distances regularly. I've even used them in the rain. I've had mine for well over a year and they're going strong.

Will they call them FirePods?

Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if Amazon came up with something similar with a name like that. I think you might be onto something with your title. You might want to patent that.

All of this time, effort and expense wasted on these stupid earbuds when you could have just left the headphone jack in your phones.

I would much rather use wireless earbuds than ones with wires. So much better when doing any kind of physical activity.

Didn't people have their iCloud accounts hacked and pictures stolen but yet millions of people still use Apple and iCloud?

In a year: Amazon discontinues headphones because they don't know how to attract customers to that market with their cheap products.

Well, to be fair, Amazon S3 and Google Cloud Platform (which they also use) can do jack crap with your data unless they have the encryption keys. Maybe that's why Google is working so hard on quantum computers, lol. Imagine the data they could mine if they broke iCloud encryption! Then you would also have to imagine the lawsuit from Apple…

I welcome this personally, I use Alexa for everything. IMO Siri was never able to compete with it.

Siri actually overtook Alexa by the end of 2018, according to rigorous testing. This is doubtless due to Apple poaching Google’s lead AI guy.

None of those iCloud accounts were hacked. Those users were tricked into giving their passwords away via phishing schemes.

Good luck.

Again, they aren't competing with AirPods if they can't run on iOS. They are competing with Samsung Buds and other Android offerings.

If someone with an iPhone is in the market for wireless headphones, they are likely going with AirPods and wouldn't want an Alexa enabled spyware product from a company that collects data.

Alexa may work better but I'm still concerned that it is uploading voice data to the Amazon servers while Siri stays on the device. I just keep hoping that Siri gets smarter.

That may be the case as far as functionality goes, not sure but when it comes to ease of use the echo is ubiquitous and I suspect one of the reasons we're talking about it with Apple. I can spend $50 to $100 on an Amazon device and stick them pretty much anywhere and it works with all of my Amazon services.

Good, maybe they will make them with different size tips to fit different size ears.

Only Apple would think they are smart enough to make an earbud that is one size fits all. If Apple made shoes, then they'd all be right foot and size 10 - and sadly they'd think they were genius for lowering manufacturing cost by only having to produce one model. I should delete this before someone at Apple reads it and they realize they could just be making only right AirPods.

To be fair to what? I was pretty clear that I was joking about his Bezos/Alexa quip... which to be fair, have nothing to do with each other.:)

Where exactly could you fit even an SSD in an AirPod? It’s amazing enough that they each have a battery, a mic, a driver, and a BT chip.

As for making them “waterproof,” it’s completely unnecessary. The only liquid one would expect to come into contact with AirPods is sweat, and they have no problem handling that. Hell, I ran mine through the wash and they were perfectly fine after they dried.

It has nothing to do with thinking they’re smart...it’s just easier and more elegant to ditch the fussy rubber tips. I’ve had multiple pairs of BT headphones with rubber tips, and they’re all terribly uncomfortable no matter which size I use. Versus AirPods that I can leave in my ears for hours on end.

My AirPods are just over a year old and now last 2-3 hours. I'll probably get the Pods replaced soon but it's going to be $100. If Amazon can deliver me a similar experience (minus the W1 chip of course) for near half of the cost I'm totally game.
