Why does not a single company make them waterproof and only a very few include internal storage? ESPECIALLY if they're aimed for fitness. These are just another of the same.

I'm gonna miss Bragi.
I suspect the firePods will turn out to be amazingly similar to the Bragi Dash, and as I recall Bragi was recently bought by a mysterious entity.
Regardless, while you can argue sound, the dash isn’t as good in a technical sense as Airpods, and I doubt shoehorning in Alexa will be that great. At least not without significant redesign.

Another Apple products to wither away soon. Amazon will definitely dominate this market very very quickly, if it ever releases it.

PowerBeats Pro will be waterproof.

Why stop there? Why don’t we just stop innovating altogether?
You can easily innovate and still give people choices. The headphone jack never stopped anyone from using or "innovating" wireless headphones.

You know though, the AirPods actually sound really good for what they offer. They have decent bass and the sound is crisp, and they are just loud enough. I doubt for the majority they complain about the audio with the AirPods, when there could be improvements in other areas. (I.e Water resistance, noise isolation, etc.)

I really like mine. The most Apple like product they have come up with for a while.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be shocked if Amazon came up with something similar with a name like that. I think you might be onto something with your title. You might want to patent that.

Technically this would not be patentable. You can’t patent words. Just FYI. :). Does this make me the legal police? IP police?

After today's ABSURD news about Android TVs from Sony getting a forced "sponsored content" section on the sets as a pilot program, I can easily say to this idea NO NO NO.

I welcome this personally, I use Alexa for everything. IMO Siri was never able to compete with it.
The reason why Siri is often found lacking is Apple is spying on your entire life. And what exactly would you he using Alexa for? I would like to know examples of how its made your life better, and I'm not kidding. I gave used Alexa 3 or 4 times before unplugging it a year later. I found I could do everything on my phone or iPad.

AirPods are the new iPod. Give them internal storage and the ability to work with Siri for playback controls offline, and they're a full on iPod replacement.

Beyond the functionality, AirPods are the 2019 status symbol as iPod's white earbuds were in the early 2000's.

I'm not surprised to see other big names coming in to compete with arguably Apple's most popular product right now.

AirPods and related wearables do have serious potential to alter social norms. I know a few people who are kind of minimalist, and would be happy with AirPods, a cellular Apple Watch, and an iPad Mini as their main computer, with no phone in the equation at all.

Add to the "AirPods are the new iPod"... So many people thought iPods were dumb/pointless/never going anywhere. Remember all the grousing about how dumb AirPods looked when people started wearing them in public? Now it's like a status symbol. Not at all shocking that there are competing products that are also white earbuds. This is why I just laugh whenever people say the newest apple product is "the downfall of apple." For all of their questionable hardware/software/tech choices, for better or worse, they're still THE tastemaker in general consumer tech.

I would try the Amazon version. My new AirPods w/H1 chip isn't any faster with connecting. The latency is worse/slower when compared to my old AirPods. The batteries last a tad longer but then again my AP's where fading over time so heck if I know for sure.

Today, while in line at an ATM; a guy asked me if they were worth the upgrade and I told him no. However, they do provide convenience, and I do like them.

I do not believe there are worth $200. Apple gets away with this pricing because other companies have not yet produced a viable alternative. Now, if greedy Tim Cook would allow a one-time replacement for a lost/damaged AirPod, then yes; $200 would be a fair deal.

Amazon must also compete with the Beats buds ... that jumped right in with a 2nd-generation design based on everything Apple learned in the first AirPods generation. I don't envy the Amazon design teams
