Not totally surprising. Echo's exist so Amazon can sell you more products. I bought a HomePod and have found it to be a much better experience, from sounding amazing, to Siri hearing me from upstairs and over music, to HomeKit automation. I sold my Echo's and have been happy so far. I'd like a couple mini HomePod's for around the house.
I have yet to find a post from you when you are critical of Apple. Usually you only talk very positively about Apple which I find little unusual. :)
Regardless, Homepod is the same problem. If someone hacks in your Homepod you have a massive problem and having that device at home is a big risk.
I like the idea of Homepod at home but not with a microphone. If Apple releases one without all the ******** and gives me just a good speaker then I'll get one but I'm not buying a device with a microphone.

Pure lazy people who don't have the intelligence to do things for themselves.

Interesting perspective. Do you use Google to look up information? If so... why? You could always use a phone book or go to the library! The greater truth is that technology makes access to information easier. Some of us are early adopters... some of us are not. That doesn't make us lazy just like that doesn't make you ignorant. We just see technology from a different perspective.

I really don't see what the desire is behind having these sorts of devices in your house. I don't think the benefit is worth the risk of them getting hacked or just having a freak bug like in this case.

Yes. Explains the level of obesity, diabetes, cancer & heart disease in the USA and western world! Along with all of the pollution that causes cancer from manufacturing this rubbish!

Man, I'm not sure whether you such increase your dosage or just change meds altogether...

I agree. However, around here, it breaks down like this:

Unquestionably Fake News:
  • Anything that implies anything negative about Apple or Apple products
  • Anything that implies anything positive about companies or products that compete with Apple
  • Anything that implies that Apple is second or lower in any contest where first is considered best
Absolutely Valid News:
  • Anything that implies anything positive about Apple or Apple products
  • Anything that implies anything negative about companies or products that compete with Apple
  • Anything that implies that Apple is first in any contest where first is considered best
We don't even question the "valid" news, but we'll rip the "fake" news to shreds.

To quote that great Sonny & Cher on the collective consistency: "the beat goes on.... the beat goes on" ;)
Actually seems to be exactly the opposite on this forum these days lately.

yeah cause Siri doesnt work period................

Juste because you cant get it to work for you, does not emphatically mean its broken. I use it daily for numerous task and have very little issues. As do probably millions other people.

No “Device” with a microphone, hmm! All the good smart speakers have away to turn off the microphone. User choice option.

That is not the same as not having it. Turning it off won't solve this. And I would dare to say that hacking a smart speaker is probably much easier than an iPhone so yeah, I don't trust these things.

siri kind of sucks to be honest. but i can't use alexa. I had one and it just kept reading random sports scores or movie reviews or played random songs constantly. alexa is trash.

She contacted Amazon and was told that the "device just guessed what we were saying."
"I didn't really understand the directions, so I'm just going to take an apparently random action rather than ask for clarification."

I've seen humans do similar things...
