but all I want is a small bezel and this is going in the opposite direction of that

"which is lower than the 1080p HD display in Samsung's flagship Galaxy S5 and less than the projected 1334x750 display that Apple may use in the iPhone 6."

Such an odd resolution. Why not just do 1920x1080 and be done with it? You’re going to force developers to work anyway. HTC One from last year had a 4.7” full 1080p screen so I know it’s possible. It’s not needed but the LG G3 will have a qhd display (2560x1440). So I’m really surprised if Apple goes with that resolution.

likely has to do with the fact that you can't actually see a difference between those numbers of pixels on such a tiny display and most people would rather have a couple hours extra battery life than a display that isn't even possible to see that its better

You're on an Apple forum, full of Apple "fanatics" - that must suit your desire to troll and cause arguments, quite substantially; it's not hard work, just keep posting in your current manner, and you'll get MORE people's backs up - that's not clever, that's something a toddler can do.

Eh I'm an apple fan not a fanatic

Amazon Smartphone Release Date

E-mail sent out within Verizon Wireless states: Amazon is planning to announce the 3D smartphone in June. Amazon is targeting a late September ship date of roughly 600,000 units, hoping to compete directly with iPhone sales.

Again -- This is all verified information directly from an e-mail I received through my current employment position with Verizon Wireless.

Eh I'm an apple fan not a fanatic

The word "fan" in this context is derived from, and is a simple shortened form of "fanatic." That said, if you consider yourself a fan of Apple, you shouldn't take offense to being called a fanatic. But don't take my word for it...

From wikipedia:
Merriam-Webster, the Oxford dictionary and other sources define it as a shortened version of the word fanatic. The word first become popular in reference to baseball enthusiasts. (Fanatic itself, introduced into English around 1550, means "marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion". It comes from the Modern Latin fanaticus, meaning "insanely but divinely inspired". The word originally pertained to a temple or sacred place [Latin fanum, poetic English fane]. The modern sense of "extremely zealous" dates from around 1647; the use of fanatic as a noun dates from 1650.) However, the term "fancy" for an intense liking of something, while being of a different etymology, coincidentally carries a less intense but somewhat similar connotation to "fanatic". The word emerged as an Americanism around 1889.

I... I'm not sure if the poster is being blindly sincere or simply sarcastic. If this was posted 4 or 5 years ago, I would say yeah it could be the "next big thing", but that was 4 or 5 years ago.

3D will be amazing, one day. You just have to look at "Star Wars" to see that. Or real products in development like the Occulus Rift. But I do accept that many of the current 3D products are pretty gimmicky.

The big difference is that Apple is at it's core a consumer electronics company who has been in the business of making great consumer electronics for many years. Google is a search advertising business at its core. The whole reason Android exists is because Google saw the mobile revolution building and needed a platform and an audience away from the desktop to SELL MORE ADS against. Amazon, as much as I like it, is an online seller of everything under the sun and affiliate advertising whore at its core. The only reason the Kindle Fire and this phone will exist is to SELL MORE STUFF through their storefront. Fine as that may be, I prefer Apple's position of advertising, affiliate marketing, and eCommerce revenue coming as a bi-product of their great hardware than vice-versa.

I can see where you're coming from. This post is probably what you should have led with. Your first post seemed very... well.. "fanatical" towards apple. "they do no wrong".

But I can understand your opinion on this. And generally I do agree as well. I've longed to move to the iPhone itself. But the ~4" historical form factor and a few other limitations of the devices have just kept me away from such. (I do use other Apple products). the iPhone 6 to me might be the ticket. We will have to see though. I'm generally not a huge fan of closed ecosystems though and it's a hurdle i personally would have to get over.

If you ignore the case, you'll see a black phone with round corners. I know people like to make fun of Apple for copywriting these things, but it was a distinctive design when it came out.

A black phone with rounded corners was certainly not distinct. The iPhone design was distinct. But every black slab of phone is not a clone of the iPhone. But I would expect as much from some MR posters.

The reason for my comment was for the fact that what you said about 3D being "the next big thing" was what was said about it 4 years ago. Here we are today and the gluttony of 3D Blu Rays has turned into a trickle. Most new tvs are not 3D. Star Wars in 3D on a theatre screen is amazing, I give you that, but on a 5" screen is not worth it. Also 3D, right now, is most effective with movies. Unless you're talking about the holographic message which I see as still being gimmicky. We still haven't gotten Facetime as flawless as we want it. All these products are bulky and occulus rift is totally different from what is being offered with the Amazon phone.

Go back and read my posts, I never said clone. I said form factor. There's a difference. I know reading and comprehension are hard, so go ahead and take a few minutes.

From the picture in the story, the phone definitely looks like an iPhone 5. I know little about its internals, display, or features. If I had said those things were the same as well, then we'd be talking about clones.

The only thing I mean to suggest is that this Amazon phone looks like it borrows its overall, physical design from Apple.

Unfortunately, Apple's implementation of parallax was not well received at all.

Agreed. To me, one of the best things about iOS 7.1 was the ability to turn parallax off without having to go into the very basic mode. Now I can use my iPad without feeling seasick. :)

There's nothing wrong with being "late to the game".

Again, both the first iPod and iPhone were released years after MP3 and "smartphones" already existed.

Personally I'll still stick within the Apple ecosystem myself, but let's give them a chance by being positive towards this technology.

I'll admit it does sound interesting- with as many cameras as they're using, it might actually produce good results. But I think the Kindle Fire would be a much better platform to showcase it than a phone...
